Large bedroom with private bath (shower, no tub). High ceilings lots of windows, private entry, bamboo floors, eco house. Radiant heating. Very spacious. No poisons used in household. WiFi. Double glass doors open to patio and the back yard looking out at oak trees. King Bed. Beautiful room although some of the 'finished' work is unfinished. House is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in Sonoma. Walking distance to several eateries including a great beer pub, pizza, Mexican and Thai restaurants and the local coffee roaster cafe. Also walking distance to the theater, second hand store, dollar store and delicious ice cream store and produce market.
Walk or drive to downtown and enjoy food, wine and shopping. Visit any of the truly great retailers including SIGH, a sparkling wine bar or La Bogeda, just two of the truly unique offerings on the square.
The house is a green built home made of straw bales. Warm and cozy, quiet and serene.
Hosts will provide towels, linens and privacy. We can suggest many local eateries as well as wine tasting options and entertainment resources. We can recommend spas for massages and hiking trails within a short walk or easy car ride away.
You won't find a TV or a kitchen, just very reasonably priced accommodations.
Sonoma has a lot to do so come enjoy the town for a weekend or extended stay.
We have recently modified out check out time, moving it 1 hour sooner to 11am. We find this works for the majority of our guests and allows us better opportunity to manage the room.
They will have access to a room and bath that are separated from the rest of the house and not shared.
Interaction with Guests
We're happy to say hello, but find that most of the time our guests are as busy as we are and we seldom cross paths. We don't require our guests to "check in" and generally this seems to work, with many of our guests arriving quite late after a day of travel and dinner on the square.
Public transportation is mostly non-existent. There are taxi services and the town is small enough that biking is quite doable.
Quiet after 10pm, we try to keep our noise down until after 8am as well. We are early birds.
Staying at Steve's place was very convenient and a breeze to find and check into. We didn't see our host during our stay but information was left on where to eat, suggested wineries, etc. that we found helpful. We really enjoyed the open space and feel of the place. The bed was comfortable and the shower hot. Would recommend staying there if in the area.
Arrived in the evening and the room was better than anticipated. Great double doors that allow a nice breeze into the bedroom, spacious, great bathroom, separate entry which does make it feel like your own. I did not see Steve during my time but it was a great place, great location, and a great experience. Highly recommend.
My sister and I arrived just after dark after driving south on route 128 my phone gps sent me up and over a very narrow winding road (Trinity) into Sonoma valley. Not worth the short cut if you don't like those kind of roads but we loved it. The porch light was on and we were really happy to find a very private, spacious room and bath. Our hosts provided a cooler so we bought some ice to chill the wine we had bought. They also provided info on nearby restaurants, taxi services and wineries. The bed and bedding was very comfortable. I'd definitely would stay again and plan to because there's so much more wine territory I need to explore.
Steve did a fantastic job of streamlining our stay. He was flexible with our arrival time and provided copious details for finding the place and staying there before we arrived.
During our stay there was an ironing board, coffee maker, wine glasses and a corkscrew in the room. These items were invaluable and added a nice touch to our stay.
I really appreciated that we could come and go as we pleased. Lovely room with a pleasant porch and an amazing shower!
Steve was great, as was the place. Great communication (as I am thinking of buying a home in Sonoma, Steve had some great ideas in terms of people to talk to and experiences to have). The room itself is nice- very sizeable and airy (great light during the day, too!), the bathroom's open air shower is a neat touch, and the place is close to everything. I do recommend staying here!
Eco, athletic, married, 2 teens. Interested in most aspects of finance, charter schools, Waldorf education, politics and wine. I enjoy a plant based diet, hiking and traveling. Wife of many years shares same interests.
We can appreciate people seeking a very private stay in our home w/o interaction with us as hosts. As well - we also enjoy meeting new people, sharing wine or coffee and learning about them if time permits.
Same sex couples welcome of course!
4 cats on premises but will not be allowed in Airbnb room.
