Large bedroom with private bath (shower, no tub). High ceilings lots of windows, private entry, bamboo floors, eco house. Radiant heating. Very spacious. No poisons used in household. WiFi. Double glass doors open to patio and the back yard looking out at oak trees. King Bed. Beautiful room although some of the 'finished' work is unfinished. House is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in Sonoma. Walking distance to several eateries including a great beer pub, pizza, Mexican and Thai restaurants and the local coffee roaster cafe. Also walking distance to the theater, second hand store, dollar store and delicious ice cream store and produce market.
Walk or drive to downtown and enjoy food, wine and shopping. Visit any of the truly great retailers including SIGH, a sparkling wine bar or La Bogeda, just two of the truly unique offerings on the square.
The house is a green built home made of straw bales. Warm and cozy, quiet and serene.
Hosts will provide towels, linens and privacy. We can suggest many local eateries as well as wine tasting options and entertainment resources. We can recommend spas for massages and hiking trails within a short walk or easy car ride away.
You won't find a TV or a kitchen, just very reasonably priced accommodations.
Sonoma has a lot to do so come enjoy the town for a weekend or extended stay.
We have recently modified out check out time, moving it 1 hour sooner to 11am. We find this works for the majority of our guests and allows us better opportunity to manage the room.
They will have access to a room and bath that are separated from the rest of the house and not shared.
Interaction with Guests
We're happy to say hello, but find that most of the time our guests are as busy as we are and we seldom cross paths. We don't require our guests to "check in" and generally this seems to work, with many of our guests arriving quite late after a day of travel and dinner on the square.
Public transportation is mostly non-existent. There are taxi services and the town is small enough that biking is quite doable.
Quiet after 10pm, we try to keep our noise down until after 8am as well. We are early birds.
We had a wonderful time staying here! The house is inspiring in its detail and its connection to the land. One of my favorite memories of this trip was laying on the bed and watching the clouds pass through the upper windows of the room. The room is spacious, clean, and the yard (and roof) are covered in what I think are native plants. The shower is extraordinary, a pebble tiled floor that massages your feet as you shower. Steve is friendly and fun to chat with.
The room was amazing. My girlfriend and I stopped in for a few nights during her spring break. The whole experience was unbelievably hassle free and easy. But the room was the best part. Gorgeous home, with an incredible back yard, close to everything you want to be close to in Sonoma town.
We very much enjoyed our stay and are eager to go back. Thanks so much!
We didn't see Steve during our stay but he replied to all our inquiries and everything we needed was advised via email beforehand.
The place was cozy and very comfortable. We loved our stay as we were able to checkout the premium outlets and nice wineries in the area.
My wife and I stayed here for a brief visit to Sonoma and it was great. Checking in and out was very simple, lots of privacy, and accommodations were very comfortable. The weather was perfect and we really enjoyed the warmer days and cool breezes and night with the windows open. We'd definitely stay again and recommend it to others.
I didn't get a chance to meet Steve, but the room was set up just the way he told us. He left us additional information on our bedside for the activities we can do around the area. He also gave us a list of where to eat and additional information about the room just in case we did not get it through email. He was, beyond a doubt, super hospitable and the room was absolutely breathtaking.
I loved staying here. It was quiet, peaceful and dark at night. Great bed. Wonderful large, airy, light room and a great large bathroom with a wonderful tiled shower. And my own private entry.
As soon as I walked into the room, I just felt, ah, so relaxing.
Sweet little sitting area outside from which to gaze upon the oaks and watch the birds soaring above.
I didn't meet the hosts, but I knew they were there and available should I need anything.
Eco, athletic, married, 2 teens. Interested in most aspects of finance, charter schools, Waldorf education, politics and wine. I enjoy a plant based diet, hiking and traveling. Wife of many years shares same interests.
We can appreciate people seeking a very private stay in our home w/o interaction with us as hosts. As well - we also enjoy meeting new people, sharing wine or coffee and learning about them if time permits.
Same sex couples welcome of course!
4 cats on premises but will not be allowed in Airbnb room.
