The Space

Our luxerious apartment is situated in the middle of Amsterdam with its canals, in the famous district the Jordaan. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had an apartment in the same street.
Bars, shops and restaurants are around the corner. This modern apartment is situated on the ground floor, the kitchen is open, there is a big gas fireplace in the large living room which gives a very cosy feeling in the evening!
The two big sleeping rooms and one babyroom plus the two bathrooms are situated on the floor below the ground floor.
Wifi is available. Part of the roof can be opened during a hot summerday. The kitchen is big and with al the luxurious equipement. A cooker, dishwasher, microwave and oven. There (email hidden) where you can sit on. The biggest bathroom has a bubble bath with tv and a double shower. Parking is possible for only 10 euro per day. Be careful with parking in the Jordaan on saturday and monday in the Jordaan. There is market and the municipality will charge 419 euro when they remove the car.

The apartment with is right next to the Jordaan market on Saterday and Monday. The Anne Frank house and Westertoren are 300 meters away. The train and tram station are close and a bike will de available on request we will charge a little for this. Families with children are welcome as well.
The neighbourhood is well known because of the little streets. It was the labour area from Amsterdam.

  • Well if you are going to stay in Amsterdam then Jordaan is the best area by far.

Fantastic atmosphere of local living, with a great selection of restaurants and bars of all types and all price ranges within a 5-10 min walk.

Central Amsterdam is only 10-15 mins way so getting to Anne Franks house or the "9 streets" etc is very (website hidden) MASSIVE TIP - AF hse normally has 2 hr queues, but if you pre book ( we did so from the UK on their website) then you go to the front and in by another door ...schimples !!

Would highly recommend that you book a walking tour when you first get there to not only get your bearings, but help decide what you really do what to do- we used "Tours and Tickets" and ask for "Steve" - he was excellent - we booked before we traveled ((website hidden)_Review-g188590-d(phone number hidden)-Reviews-Tours_Tickets_Amsterdam-Amsterdam_North_Holland_Province.html)

Hiring a bike is great fun, once you get over the Kamikaze nature of Dutch cycling !! 5 min walk from this house is "Bike City" in Bloemgracht 68-70 and the Rijks Museum is only a 10 -15 min pleasant ride away (Bloemgracht is a very pretty canal with excellent restaurant that we could not get into called L' Invite- so look on trip advisor & book)

Would highly recommend a local Italian called "Hostaria" in Egelantiersdwars Straat ( 5 mins walk, turn left out of hse and keep going !!)

An excellent meal was had at a slightly smarter place called Brasserie Vlaming in
    Prinsengracht 193a, with excellent staff.

Final recommendation of a local place to eat was " Donna Sofia" a pasta/ pizza place with scottish manager - same street as Hostaria...good food...oh and both these are within a hop of a superb ice cream shop !!

The actual apt was all that we expected with the added bonus of the sliding glass roof, which somehow I did not see in the review- excellent for a hot summers evening, relaxing with a drink, before going out again. All mod cons except an iron which I am sure would have been made available if we could have been bothered to ask. Very clear instructions on getting in.

It is excellently placed so that coming home to charge/ recharge before an evening assault is very easy.

Only negative.. and the clue was the humidifier in the basement 2nd bedroom...yes it felt a little damp after a day or so despite leaving it on while out so if you go here with friends and you both like natural light in a bedroom, then someone will be disappointed !!

Other than that very good value, very well placed, defn recommend as an Amsterdam base....Enjoy

  • We stayed here for a week along with our teenage daughter. The flat is in a great spot in Amsterdam with convenient tram access and walking distance to most places. The flat is spacious for 3-4 people and has plenty of light.

There is a small spiral staircase that goes downstairs to the basement where the bedrooms are. So you'll need some dexterity to go up and down.

  • What a great place to live in Amsterdam! We stayed for four nights during the Amsterdam Dance Event and this was the perfect retreat to get away from the busy conference. The flat is indeed luxurious and cosy, so we ended up spending more time at «home» than we expected :)
Thanks to Mark and Natascha for this weekend - I'll definitely consider it again for me next visit!

  • Perfect place to discover Amsterdam from - although the flat is so nice you also just could stay in!

  • Large and spacious flat in a great location - very pretty street and city centre walkable in about 20 minutes. The property is a little rougher around the edges than it looks in the photos but still very good value and with excellent facilities and all the usual mod cons; the kitchen and bathrooms are new and very roomy.

Both bedrooms are in the lower ground floor and, as such, do not have windows. The larger bedroom gets some natural light and air through a glass panel into the living room above, however, the smaller bedroom has neither. This would not have been a problem in itself, however, we did have an issue with the fact that the smaller bedroom was incredibly humid (to the extent that the bedsheets felt damp) and, although there was a de-humidifier in there, this wasn't mentioned in the property listing and the first time we came across it was when we actually got to the flat and read the welcome book. Although the dehumidifier was on all day we didn't feel as if it really helped and had we known about it in advance we may not have chosen to rent this property. The neighbor tried to assist in Mark's absence but wasn't really able to so this issue never did get sorted and meant that we weren't able to sleep in the smaller bedroom which was disappointing.

Other than this, our stay was generally pleasant. Mark was easy enough to reach via text and email, but we ended up dealing with the neighbor for our issues with the humidity.

Overall, good value, spacious property but the best thing about it was probably the location.

  • Mark's place was a great stay! Loved the spacious home he had to offer. Everything was relatively close and was a great neighborhood to stay at. Will definitely be back again!
