Hello, we’ve lived in this wonderful villa for 15 years and are making available the granny suite with autonomous entrance, sleeping 4-5 people. Fantastic view over sunset valley, great location near Rome and access to pool area as well.

Homenearome is unique as a self-contained apartment in a large villa, with private entrance and a huge panoramic window over the sunset. Featuring bedroom with two single beds and a sitting room with a double sofa bed it can comfortably fit 4 people. If you are a couple we can move the double bed to the bedroom if you prefer. Bathroom with shower and bath and fully fitted kitchen with gas range and fridge. Private small balcony overlooking valley and private parking also included. There is no air-conditioning but we will provide fans if you request them.

Access to private parking and small pool area and sun deck in the back of the house. Free wifi also provided. The front garden and half of the rear garden are our private spaces and we would appreciate if you would keep them off limits. Also, no absailing off the balcony :)

We will welcome you when you arrive and be around to answer questions (we live in the main floor) but will mostly leave you on your own to come and go as you wish. Breakfast not provided.

We are located about 2km outside of Sutri in a private residential complex with all single villas or semi-detached homes. You will experience extreme silence, surrounded by nature and a general feeling of safety and tranquillity. Most of our neighbours are professionals.

It is recommended that you have a car available. Private parking is available for you. Both Roman airports (Ciampino and Fiumicino) are about 1 hour drive away. The closest bus stop (Acotral) is a 10 minute walk, but buses are not frequent nor do they go directly to Rome. There is a better bus stop with direct service to Rome within 2km and a train station about 8km away.

We’ve really liked living here and we’d love to share with you all the little secret places to go and discoveries that we’ve made in these years. For example, where can you buy great Merlot, or Verdicchio at less than 3€ per bottle? Where is the best pizza place with a genuine Neapolitan cook? Where is the cheapest place to fill up on gas? How do you get into Rome without going crazy and what can you see in one day? We’ve got tons of advice that we're glad to share.

We think Sutri is a very special place from which to base a great holiday. We’re in a private condominium, which means no traffic, only villas and neighbours that you’ll never see. Good food available everywhere, fresh fish daily. We’ve lived here for 20 years!

Sutri itself is a gem. Built almost 3000 years ago (the times of King Solomon!) and inhabited ever since, so you can imagine the history and charm. Sutri is an ancient Etruscan settlement, which means it was founded before the Roman empire ever begun. It is on the Via Francigena which means it was a main stopping place for all pilgrims on their way to Rome. The place is literally “bursting” with history: Etruscan, Roman, Medieval and Renaissance. Walk the little streets or sip an expresso in the piazza. Eat a pizza on the terrace overlooking the necropolis on the Cassia. Visit the amphitheatre that is dug into the mountain and where scenes of The Gladiator were shot. Find your way into the Mythreum or into the fascinating Crypt below the Cathedral. Need more ideas? Sutri is a 15 minute walk from our home.

Careful though, you may get so caught up with Sutri that you forget that you are only 30 minutes from Rome…What needs to be said about Rome? That it is one of the top destinations in the world? That it has ruled the world militarly, culturally and then religiously? That you can find everything in terms of art and history from ancient, to medieval, to renaissance to modern? That it hosts the best museums in the world, music auditoriums, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Catacombs and some of the best Caravaggios? Or, more modestly, the best ice cream and pasta matriciana on the planet?

Viterbo is relatively unknown but well worth a visit. It is also called the “City of the Popes” as it was for some time a papal residence. A real gem in terms of medieval ambience and great little piazzas to discover. If you happen by in September you can watch the spectacular “Trasporto di S. Rosa” in which 100 men carry on their shoulders a 28m tower thorugh the tight alleyways dedicated to the patron saint (Saint Rosa). Otherwise see the dates for San Pellegrino in Fiore, a wonderful floreal display in the medieval town If your bones are aching after long tourist walking in sunny Rome, the a day at the Terme dei Papi is what you need, the thermal baths with therapeutic waters used by the popes. Viterbo is only a 30 minute drive north of our place.

When summer comes, it gets hot, and a place to cool off is often just as desireable as a all the art of the world. From our place you can choose. The Vico Lake is a great place to cool off and get some warm sun or rent a canoe – only 15 minutes away (you can run there or bike around in about an hour). If you prefer the sea, the Mediterrean is about a 45 minute drive away, but when we go we prefer to go a bit futher down south to Sabaudia (about 1 hour, 30). Check it out, you’ll love it. If the kids are bored, then Fontevivola waterpark is just a 5 minute drive from our place. Nice pools, three fun waterslides and a good restaurant with lots of fun games. Of course, there is also our own small pool at the back of the house to cool off in.

For day trips, there is Tuscany which we border on and you can come and go to Florence and back in a (long) day. If you fancy Umbria, then that is also just on the other side of the Tiber river. Tarquinia and Orvieto are 1 hour
Perugia, Assisi and Spoleto are 1-2 hours. If you fancy going south, Naples, Capri, Pompei and the Amalfi coast are 2-4 hours by car.
