Abbots Lodge is located in a delightfully peaceful setting between the church and the medieval castle. An unconventional property, it makes the very most of the elevated site and far reaching views.
The woodlands around Wigmore are full of beautiful walks and wildlife.
A short, beautiful and picturesque drive to the east through Mortimer Forest brings you to the historic town of Ludlow, renowned for its food and arts festivals as well as its fine dining, and high quality local food suppliers
We had a lovely stay in Wigmore and wished it had been longer than just one night. The accomodation is beautiful and has all the thoughtful little extras we could have wished for - cake on arrival, a helpful book of local information, a handy torch for the walk home from the pub. Janet's breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed exploring the castle and almost wished the weather had not been so nice so we could have made use of the log fire! Thank you Janet and John for such a relaxing break - just what we (website hidden) when my partner left his wallet behind they posted it out immediately which we were very grateful for!
We stayed for 3 nights at the end of our honeymoon, and I could not recommend this hidden gem anymore! It was an absolute delight! The room was light and airy but also super cosy! Breakfast treats left in the fridge so you can help yourself before Janet comes and takes your breakfast order. Breakfast was delicious and served to your room which was lovely! Just up the road is wigmore castle which was great to go and explore, especially as we were the only ones there! Ludlow is just a short drive away. Janet could not of made us feel any more welcome! We'll be returning and have recommended to all our friends and family. Thanks so much x
What a treat! Recommend this to anyone who wants a quiet few nights in a beautiful part of the country. Wished we could have stayed longer.
The accomodation is spacious and extremely comfortable and Janet is welcoming and prepares some great food.
We had such a wonderful weekend at Abbots Lodge. Janet provided everything we needed for an extremely comfortable stay. The room is spotlessly clean, very spacious and beautifully furnished with hand-crafted pieces and a basket full of logs for the wood burner. The king-size bed is heavenly and the French windows allow you to lie back and take in the view from under the duvet! The shower is excellent and the kitchen has more than adequate equipment to cook some decent meals. A generous selection of hot drinks plus home-made cake and a jar full of biscuits were left out for our enjoyment. We were offered several choices of locally-sourced dish for breakfast and fruits from the garden in addition to cereals and yoghurts from our fridge. The evening menu was tempting too and we would certainly like to sample more of Janet's cooking next time! Abbots Lodge is easy to get to and well-located. Ludlow is a 20-minute scenic drive away and the fantastic The Green Cafe on the river certainly deserves Janet's recommendation! Another highlight of our stay was a short walk across the rolling fields to the impressive timber-framed barn. We are very much looking forward to our next visit in warmer weather so we can have breakfast and an aperitif on the elegant verandah and perhaps a campfire supper at the barn! Overall very highly recommended and excellent value. Thank you.
