About this listing
Maple Rm: Nature access amidst the 600 acre nature park of Powell Butte. Scenic panoramic city views, family farm animals and relaxed setting. We love hosting people from around the world: Germany, Japan, Syria and Korea have done longer 3 mo stays.
Enjoy panoramic views and gorgeous sunsets of downtown Portland and access to nature amidst the 600 acre nature park of Powell Butte. Our family home is a relaxed retreat with farm-like qualities as we host goats, horses, chickens, dogs and cats along with little people, plenty of bunnies and a big garden of greens that you are welcome to partake in. We have two guest rooms with Queen Beds on the top floor overlooking city views of downtown. There is a full bath on each floor and one on the main floor is always designated for guests.
Many visitors enjoy the old-growth hikes or scenic views atop the butte, biking, hiking or horse back riding. There is public transit to downtown at the bottom of the hill, and with the right route you can be into inner SE or downtown in 15-20 min. The main attraction is the retreat within the city feel.
Guests can expect to make themselves at home. We will stock the fridge with breakfast items and leave out the coffee and tea. Fresh eggs and greens are always available. We are a busy working family and often gone 2-3 times a week so there will be long stretches where the house will be yours visiting briefly in person in passing when schedules allow. Phone or text for little updates. If there are major issues, please don't hesitate to call.
On a relaxed day we invite you to join us for a cup of coffee on the back covered deck bird watching or for a glass of wine on the front porch and a sunset. WE look forward to meeting you!

Felt like family! My partner and I stayed here for one month, and in that time we made a great connection with Jesse and her family, and will surely keep in touch. Jesse was very accommodating and ever glad to share her home with new friends. We felt very comfortable around the house and always welcome. If you like nature, then this place is for you. Butting up to the property is the 600 acre Powell Butte Nature Park boasting many lovely trails for both hiking and biking accompanied by a beautiful view of Mount Hood. Thanks again Jesse, family, and friends! See you soon!
Jesse was a great host and greeted me upon arrival. Unfortunately, due to business travel I wasn't present for my whole stay. However, for the portion I was present, Jesse was incredibly friendly, helpful and the room was very tidy and comfortable. I would recommend staying here to anyone who wants a "retreat" feel inside of Portland.
Jesse's farm house was perfect for our stay. Her boys were very hospitable. Everything was as described. I wish we would have had time to slow down and enjoy relaxing there but we were out to see Portland and surrounding areas so we were up early and in late. A great view from our room. It was a perfect location to get into the city. Thank you so much for the stay! I highly recommend this Airbnb!
Words can not describe how happy I chose Jesses place while staying at one of the most beautiful city Portland! Jesse was quick in response, accommodating, & one of the friendliest person I've ever met!
She has two sons and they are very respectable and super sweet just like Jesse!
The room was perfect. I felt so comfortable and had my own privacy, in which I love. If you ever come to Portland and need a place to stay, you def need to check out Jesses place!
I was looking for a comfortable and relaxing place to spend 5 nights while visiting my daughters in Portland. Jesse's house was ideal. Were were able to enjoy this farm house and it's lovely surroundings, take in the city view from the front porch and prepare meals in the family kitchen as well as BBQ on the deck.
The property abuts a nature area with hiking trails accessible directly from the yard.
There were several other guests during our stay and it was quite nice to chat and learn a bit about those passing through.
I stayed in the Maple room which it on the second floor and has a terrific view of the city.
I will definitely go back on my next visit.
We had a great experience. Jesse was very welcoming and made us feel right at home. The house is in a gorgeous location, very forested. It feels like a getaway from the city, even though you are only about 20 minutes to downtown Portland, and even closer than that to a few restaurants and a great coffee shop.
The home is definitely lived in. If Martha Stewart housekeeping is what you're looking for, this is not the place for you. However, I found the "people live here" atmosphere to be pleasant, and gave me permission to relax.
It was an excellent experience and I would recommend it to others. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in the Portland area, this is it!
Jesse was a fantastic host with a beautiful homestead! Relocating to the Portland area, my partner and I stayed with Jesse for two months while we searched for a permanent home. Throughout our stay, Jesse was super helpful, kind, and communicative. An experienced host, she usually anticipated our needs but was also quick to respond when we had any questions. The place is lovely with a beautiful view of Portland. It also connects to a state park; a short hike will provide you with a view of all of the major mountains in the area. Highly recommended.

About the Host, Jesse
I love guests and have a desire to share the world with my children. A background in event planning, hospitality, journalism and education has given me the opportunity to host in many venues--but my favorite is here at home. As a childbirth educator/doula, I spend my spare time in the garden, hiking and reading about sustainability or meeting the flower fairies in the woods. I love local food feasts, storytelling, yoga, gardening and meeting new people.
