About This Listing
Our home is nestled on 25 owned acres that backs up to 4,000 open acres on the slopes of Stimson Mountain in the Green Mountain Range. We are 2 miles from the Long Trail. 1 mile from the lifts of Bolton Valley Ski Resort and 0 miles from more than 300 inches of snow every year. Our house is our home when we aren't inviting others to enjoy it and you will be able to tell. It sits alone on a hill with a good size deck, living room with floor to ceiling chimney and cathedral ceilings. There are 2 medium sized bedrooms and one large master bedroom as well as a very cool loft. You will find the kitchen well set up for cooking and the dining room open to the living room and the deck.
Our home is for outdoor enthusiasts who appreciate being able to walk out of the house, take a left, hike up 1000 vertical feet and ski or ride down their own private back country. For those of you that enjoy a little more "resort" experience you can drive 1 mile to the Timberline lift and be skiing 10 minutes after leaving the house.
We love technology almost as much as we love the waterfalls and rivers that surround the property so you will find a state of the art audio/visual system, including Apple TV to stream movies, music and show your pics from your vacation immediately. There is wireless internet and a great sound system as well.
Bolton is 35 minutes from Stowe, 25 minutes from downtown Burlington and 40 minutes from Sugarbush. Waterbury and Richmond are both 10 minutes away and have all the small town charm you would expect as well as some great and fun restaurants.
It's our goal that you have an amazing experience in our home. We think of you as people we want to share with, share our knowledge of the area and give you insights to places and things to do that will help make your trip memorable in a way that wouldn't normally happen just by renting a house.
We invite you to come, relax and play.
This is our home when you are not enjoying it. We want you to have an experience of the beauty and solitude of the mountains and the comfort of our home. Please treat it as you would treat your own.
Amazing cabin that was very cozy and clean. Hosts were great, left us a bottle of wine on arrival and responded to my calls promptly. Cell signal in the mountains isn't great, but the wifi in the home is very fast and efficient for calling over skype. Overall fantastic experience, would do again in a heartbeat.
Sally was a superb host, much better than a concierge at a fancy hotel. She was communicative and responsive. Her house was wonderful, and I recommend it highly.
Lovely home very convenient to ski resorts. Well-appointed kitchen made after-ski dinners a lot of fun for our group of 6!
My family of six stayed in Damon and Sally's house at the end of the year and very much enjoyed the house and the area. Both owners were very helpful and quickly responded to our many questions over email and phone. The house is nicely decorated and spacious - it easily accommodates six or even eight people (3 bedrooms and a den, 2 full baths). Very nice bedrooms downstairs and simple but spacious bedroom and den upstairs. The kitchen is very well equipped, with plenty of dishes, plates, utensils and glasses. A broadband internet connection, large LCD SmartTV, and a stereo amplifier/speakers allowed us to stay connected and entertained after skiing. There is no DVD player, but a laptop can be connected to the TV via HDMI or VGA/audio cables (bring your own). The family room is very cozy with comfy sofas, cathedral ceiling and great fireplace (plenty of wood to use). We really enjoyed the house.
As for the area, it is great for winter activities. The Bolton Valley Ski area is just 2 miles up a steep road; in the winter a 4-wheel drive with winter tires is highly recommended in case of a large snow fall. Stowe ski area is just 25min away and Mad River Glen - 35min. The Catamount Xcountry Ski Trail (300 miles long, from Quebec to Massachusetts) is just a few hundred yards from the house.
About the Host, Sally
We love our Vermont Home. We hope you like the coziness of our home. It is set up for families that like to read, relax, explore, play, cook, go on adventures and of course, the outdoors! We have a 4 year old son that loves the "Bolton House". If you have any specific requests please let us know. As former restaurant/bar industry folks, we love creating a space for people to have fun!
