The house is on the top of one of the hills of the village, very closed to the centre. To go to the main street (Corso Umberto) by walking you have to go down a lot of stairs, but the view of the city from some points of the top is spectacular.
The house is spacious, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The only negative thing I could note is that the mattresses are not very comfortable.
Giovanni was very kind and attentive.
The room is very nice, everything was clean and i liked the location of the house. It's up the hill, and you can walk through beautiful narrow alleys to the center, it took me about 15min walking. I had a short stay, less than 24hours, but it was great as there is a really good restaurant (Colonello) just 2min away from the place. I liked also the not too touristic area around the house, and loved the local bars. Giovanni was very helpful, communication was great. I coudn't meet him though.
Giovanni was responsive to all my requests, despite it being the holiday season. Bed was comfortable, heater in the bedroom kept that room warm. Wifi worked well. The apartment is in Alta so best if one has a car or enjoys walking uphill! There is a bus but, in this season, it is a long wait.
The house is in Modica Alta, which I found out was just an 8 min local bus ride away if, like me, you are using public transport for moving around and get deposited in Corso Umberto, which is the main drag in Modica Bassa. Once you are orientated (and up for it), the house is in fact only a 20 min climb through picturesque and panoramic streets (passing S. Giorgio), and located near the villagey S. Teresa corner of Modica, so there is an option of staying local if you don't want to do too many descents into town, and where you will find a take-out, a Conad mini-market, and a few bars and restaurants to satisfy your feed needs. Modica's only cinema is in the neighbourhood too. The house itself is clean and neat, and maintains most of the features of its era, but equipped with mod-cons, including WiFi. You may be sharing the kitchen with guests on another floor (which needs to be understood by both parties or communicating doors may be locked by mistake!). Modica was wonderful even with contrary November weather and my stay went relatively unhitched. I found Giovanni an amiable and obliging host, who communicated the means for my arrival and departure fairly well.
