This was a booking that went badly wrong for us all and I am very sorry that Margaret’s experience was so negative. it was a great mistake on our part not to have cancelled the booking, but we did not want to cause disappointment. Due to a family tragedy we were behind with our winter maintenance program, and this combined with some dreadfully wet weather prior to Margaret’s arrival made it difficult to prepare the The Hut and its garden to the high standard which we aim for. We did do our best, but unfortunately communication between Margaret and myself was not good and this led to misunderstandings and issues that could have been addressed at the time not being mentioned.
We are awaiting the advice of airbnb on what level of compensation is appropriate and apologise unreservedly to Margaret for her disappointment that her holiday was not as special as she had hoped.
The issues which she mentions are in the process of being addressed, and we aim to have the Tea Hut freshly painted and deep cleaned in readiness for the main letting season. However, whilst cleanliness is of the utmost importance to us, it is important for perspective tenants to note that this is an old building in a very exposed location. We do have a rolling programme of improvements and maintenance, but there are inevitably some things that are a bit worn. We aim for the Hut to be a practical, comfortable and relaxed place for families who like messing around on the beach, getting away from the TV and simply enjoying the fantastic location. it is not marketed or priced as a high end luxury property.
