Remodeled just this year, this classic mid century modern in the Hollywood Hills on world famous Laurel Canyon is a must see. Vintage midcentury designer furniture and floor to ceiling glass throughout help show you the best LA has to offer.
Just six doors up from the Laurel Canyon Country Store and amazing Italian restaurant Pace and a few blocks above the Sunset Strip. If you are coming to Los Angeles with anything other than the beach in mind, this location could not be more convenient and central. The house sits on the corner of Laurel Canyon and a private and quiet culdesac, providing ample parking beyond the covered carport spot provided for you under the house.
Entire place is outfitted with rare midcentury vintage furniture, maintaining the perfect mixture of design and comfort. Floor to ceiling windows throughout looking out at the large kidney shaped pool and lush mountain yard.
Huge master with massive walk in closet and his and hers sinks.
Guest bedroom can serve as the ideal office for those of you on business as the tempurpedic Queen bed is collapsable if needed. *NOTE, THERE IS A BED, ALTHOUGH NOT SHOWN IN PICTURES.
Sonos system throughout the house and pool to hook up to your iPhone wirelessly, new 60 inch 3D TV with major surround sound system, extremely fast turbo wifi, netflix, hulu, flatscreen in master, etc.
NEW ADDITION: A very high end Mitsubishi energy efficient ductless mini-split AC system has just been installed. All remote controlled, like in Europe and South America.
Brand new high gloss white kitchen with island not shown in pictures.
Remodeled guest bathroom not shown in pictures.
You would have to search far and wide for a better set up in LA, especially one competitively priced like a single hotel room.

Great for hosting dinners or intimate day at the pool, put please no parties. All furniture is vintage and irreplaceable with resources no longer available like Rosewood, please use coasters. No smoking inside!
Picture-perfect home tucked away in Laurel Canyon—this house is the perfect retreat from Los Angeles' concrete jungle. We were four people staying for the week and loved the walkable distance to the Laurel Canyon Country Mart (there is a makeshift footpath that feels a little daunting in heavy traffic, but is totally doable) and Pace in the canyon (a delicious restaurant). The house itself is smartly decorated and the bedrooms are separated for a real feeling of privacy. The kitchen looks to be recently upgraded with a Sub Zero fridge and all the amenities (though we couldn't find a teapot!). Unfortunately, upon arrival we discovered that the POOL IS NOT HEATED, an oversight on our part I guess since we never asked, but we think it would be nice if this was called out in the listing's text and description (we felt a little cheated). The affable and friendly host, Mike, was uber-accessible via text, phone and email and accommodated a few snafus along the way with a locked washer/dryer unit and Sonos sound system (which never got up and running, but was addressed with a visit from an expert stereo guy nonetheless). No laundry detergent in the house meant it was almost easier to send our clothes out for cleaning (to a place next to the Country Mart... or just bring your own detergent). The beds, linens, and furniture were really comfy, however, we should note that the third "bedroom" is really just an air mattress somewhat awkwardly placed in a room that is open to a curtain-less shower stall and separate toilet with an exposed sink situation so... if you were to be the unlucky guest sleeping here you might be awakened by roomies using the shower/turning on the sink lights/etc. It's not too private. The glass windows were amazing and the mid-century decor is carried throughout with lots of cool, one-of-a-kind pieces. The record player (which we couldn't work) would have been a nice touch, but maybe you'll be luckier (or more handy) with that. Over all, a fantastic location and a really accommodating host—the perfect spot to live out the dreamy Laurel Canyon lifestyle. (Also, park on the street! We scraped the underbelly of our car on the carport "entrance" which Mike warned us about...)
the house is incredible, it's like a step into a special oasis in the middle of Laurel Canyon. everything you could think of is in the kitchen and the house is equipped with top of the line appliances for those who want to use the fabulous kitchen. if you appreciate vintage modern furniture, this will be a wonderland. so many great touches. a lovely spacious gem...
Mike's home in Laurel Canyon is extremely well located in West Hollywood… a five minute drive to Sunset Blvd where you will find whatever you need whether it be Trader Joes or Chateau Marmont for a drink. The house is nicely furnished with Danish/mid-century modern appropriate to the house. There is a great "LA feel" and the kitchen is extremely well stocked in case you feel like cooking. It was perfect for my purposes, with two private bedrooms each with bathroom, a great living area and all general mod cons. On-street parking was plentiful, a rarity in Los Angeles. Mike was a great host, responsive and enthusiastic! Many thanks
Wonderful house is an amazing location, everything exactly as Mike said it would be and he was always available for questions we had. Enjoyed our little snapshot of the California lifestyle and would have no problem recommending Mike's beautiful home in Laurel Canyon to anyone.
No problems with logistics, communicating with Mike, and getting access to his place. (He also has good sushi tips.)
I got exactly what I was after for my trip (chill 40th birthday vacation week with family and friends) and exactly what it seems from the listing -- a very iconic-LA type space curated with cool and unique mid century antiques and kitsch. The open space is great for hanging out and wows visitors. The price point is good.
The huge glass windows from the spacious bedroom facing the pool are especially inspiring for lovers of this design period.
A rarity in the Hills, you can walk to a very useful mini village of cleaner/good restaurant/corner store (the latter full of wacky LA characters getting morning coffees).
All the WeHo/Beverly Hills fun stuff is a very short Uber ride away.
Only significant downside is traffic noise, which surprised me a bit - though just two lanes, LC is busy and between the concrete surface and being at the bottom of the valley the sound resonates. I didn't really mind but it may bother some. A more secluded spot would be quieter, BUT it wouldn't be nearly as convenient for travel as Mike's place.
Other than traffic it's very peaceful and the pool vibe is private - never heard any neighbours
mike was fantastic. We had some issues with dog smell and dog poop on the rug (!) but he quickly had the cleaners come and clean the rug.
The place is attractive, nice furniture and layout.
The perfect combination of bad luck- previous renters had a dog that was not sanctioned and my all star cleaning crew was in Guatemala and not there. New maids (who i have since stopped using) missed something big. Incredibly embarrassing. I partially refunded the guest as soon as I heard and sent a legit cleaning crew the next day. This house has been rented 200+ times and nothing like this had ever or will ever happen again. Thank you Alice for your understanding.
We had a very pleasant stay, the interior was super nice 50´s. Fresh and clean, sunny etc. Mike was a great host, always within reach. Located close to sunset strip, just perfect. Would high recommend this place!
