The house was as illustrated - large, new construction, close to town... Mauricio was easy to work with and responded quickly to questions.

We stayed at Villa Santiago the month of January renting the whole place. Initially we were two older couples and for the last two weeks just one. The house is new and built to a grand scale. The owners hope to sell it but in the meantime are listing it on AirBnB. We were met on arrival and shown into the house which was immaculate. The grounds outside are well planted and maintained. The company has a large staff We primarily interacted with the housekeeper (once per week), the night watchman who met our taxi at night and walked us to the door, and the gardener who came 3 times a week to water the plants. We were familiar with the neighborhood from prior visits. It is about a 15 minute downhill walk to Instituto Allende and Parque Juarez, and 20 minutes to the Zocolo. We always took taxis home at night. There is a tienda nearby for things like milk, rolls and fruit. Restaurants, banks and pharmacies require a longer walk. The view from the rooftop is panoramic - You can see the whole town. The house has heavy, substantial furnishings. The beds are quite comfortable. Since it has never been lived in it lacks the personal touches and decorations typical in San Miguel. On the other hand there are watercolor paintings everywhere (the theme of Villas Acuarela), many available for purchase. The appliances worked well except for the dishwasher, which apparently needs to be replaced. The WiFi is good, in fact I was able to run an HDMI cable from my computer and watch streaming video from Netflix and YouTube. In all we had a good stay and would recommend it. One thing that would be helpful would be a manual in English explaining how to use the appliances including the heater, what to do with garbage, etc. The staff was always helpful but there was often a language barrier.

Villa Santiago was all it had advertised and more. The photos of the house were beautiful--the house was truly beautiful. The photos of the view were fantastic--the actual view was incomparable. The house and the grounds were very well cared for and the host and staff were very friendly and responsive. Our DVD player didn't work well. No problem. We got a new DVD player that day. The terrace off our bedroom was a great place to watch the sunset and was shaded much of the day and had comfortable chairs. Hard to beat. While not in el centro, the location was very good. It was an easy walk to the Jardin and, if we did not feel like walking back (it was a climb) we could take a taxi. Note that if you want a great view in San Miguel, it will be a climb to get to your place. For us, the view was worth it.

We had a fantastic stay at Villa Santiago. The house is beautiful and has everything you need to enjoy a few days without worry. It's very close to Parque Juarez, and in 15 minutes you are downtown. The staff was very kind and helpful. They were prompt to resolve any issues and/or requests. And they welcomed us with a delicious apple pie! A few things to note: the mattresses could be more comfortable, and the listing says the house has a washing machine but it is actually in a separate house. They would, however, do the laundry for you upon request. All in all it was a great stay and we enjoyed ourselves. Thanks!

Our family so much enjoyed the time we spent in Villa Santiago. The architecture and furnishings were stunning (I especially love the ceiling and statuary in the master bedroom). And the view was breathtaking and visible from many rooms of the house. Close enough to San Miguel to walk, but far enough to be away from the crowds. We also utilized the friendly staff, including a cook (Cuquis) for breakfast and lunch, which was very helpful and a great way for us to try some Mexican cuisine, and other things.
