The building is the art deco Regents Court. Originally built as gentleman's chambers in 1926 and once home to actors, painters, dancers and writers, Regents Court is a great boutique accommodation option in one of Sydney's funkiest neighbourhoods.

The apartment, located on the top floor, has a large north facing (what you want in the southern hemisphere to catch the sun) picture window. The spacious studio has been designed to offer a more comfortable accommodation alternative to discerning travellers. The apartment has its own well equipped kitchen, dining area and individual bathroom, queen-sized bed and a pull-down single bed.

The Regents Court also operates as a boutique 25 studio room hotel managed by 8hotels. This apartment is NOT managed by 8hotels.

Guest Access

Guests have access to everything in the apartment, the roof garden with its views and bbq and direct access to the best food and drink Sydney has to offer.

Interaction with Guests

I like to welcome Guests and show them their accommodation. My family and I live across the road, so I am close by if Guests need something.

The Neighborhood

Potts Point is Sydney's most cosmopolitan neighbourhood (think Soho London, The East Village NYC).

During the last decade Potts Point has become recognised as one of the most desirable places to live in Sydney. Many empty-nesters have sold their family homes in the suburbs and bought an apartment in the neighbourhood. Many young families now choose to live here, so much so that the sight of prams, once as rare in Potts Point as koalas, are now part of the diverse mix of locals. And why wouldn't anybody want to live here? It is the most cosmopolitan 'hood' in Australia. It is beautiful, grand old art deco buildings, and harbour side parks; it is a walk to the city through the Botanic Gardens; you can get a coffee downstairs, and have a drink after dinner. It is all about amenity. It is a vibrant, living, inner-urban community.

Getting around

It is two minutes walk to the nearest train station or you can walk into the CBD in fifteen minutes. There is a go-get car for hire by the hour on the street. Harbour-side parks are 5 minutes walk. The surf beaches are also a short train/ bus ride away.

Within walking distance of the Botanic Gardens, Opera House, Art Gallery, Australian Museum, central business district & most tourist sites

- Taxis takes about 20 minutes and cost about $50 (depending on the time of day).
- Shuttle bus stops at the Regents Court. This costs $13 but takes longer as it makes a number of stops.
- Train. Domestic Airport Station to Kings Cross, a one way ticket is: $15.90 AUD
- Train. International Airport Station to Kings Cross, a one way ticket is: $16.70 AUD

  • Thanks again Hugh, your apartment is a gem, beautifully presented, ideally located and your own attention to detail and discrete attentiveness is very much appreciated. Your apartment is extremely well appointed, everything we could possible need (including, in particular, an esspreso coffee machine), within 5 minutes walk there are dozens of restaurants to please every taste, a supermarket directly adjacent for those mundane needs and an exciting and colourful neighbourhood. We chose to walk to the city (15 mins to the Opera House via the delightful Botanic Gardens) but public transport is very accessible and cheap. We will see you again on our next trip. Oh, how could I not mention the wonderful roof garden with BBQ, you have everything covered, cheers, Bill & Gilly.

  • Everything went seamlessly and Hugh was helpful at the beginning and at a couple of occasions where we needed some guidance. The apartment is delightful and beautifully furnished. Even though it is a studio, the excellent layout and design of the apartment really makes you feel you are in a place with various areas to it, where you can relax and read, have drinks and eat and retire for the day. The location is superb and the building is beautifully maintained and welcoming. It has the feel of a modern London residential club but relaxed and informal. Kate Winter and Greg Khoury

  • We loved Hugh's place.Everything was perfect.Location is excellent,5 min. walk to train and an easy and pretty walk to Circular Quay. The building is old and charming, and has a beautiful roof top garden ,with a beautiful view, and complete with a very large barbie, eating area and washup area.Although the building is old the apartment was very modern !with everything you could possibly need for meal prep.
Close to airport and for $12.00 bucks per person you can book the airport shuttle.
    The best features were:

Quiet it is in a cul de sac
    Very clean and user friendly
The bed was to die for!
The charm of the older building
    Very reasonably priced
    Would highly recommend Hugh's place

  • My daughter and I had a wonderful time staying at the Potts Point Apt. It had everything we needed. Thank you Hugh for being so great!

  • Our stay at Hugh's apartment in Potts Point was absolutely perfect. The location was amazing, with tons to do and eat as well as transportation so close, yet the apartment is on a cute little street tucked away from the noise. The apartment was super clean, and checking in with Roslyn and getting the keys was incredibly easy. Hugh was super helpful in providing us with info before we arrived, as he was out of town during our stay. We were able to walk to everything super easily, most times through the beautiful nearby Botanical Gardens. Overall, this was the perfect place for us to stay in Sydney!

  • My Husband and I visited Sydney on our "Bucket List tour of Australia". This is the perfect place to stay if you want to be submerged into the city. Everything a tourist wants to see is within walking distance! The accommodations are clean and comfortable. The roof top terrace was a nice touch as well.

We are a very technology dependent couple. We have a hobby, Geocaching, that requires internet access in order for us to log our achievements online, which we like to do in a timely manner. The wifi is not strong so consider this if your internet needs are demanding.

We ate at the nearby Petrol restaurant, which was very enjoyable. The star place to eat in our opinion was Room 10, which was just around the corner. Both of these locations are also a selling point for this rental.

  • Hugh's apartment in Potts Point was perfect for our stay in Sydney. The neighbourhood is lovely and there are plenty of bars/restaurants nearby. It is also in walking distance to the harbour front and the Opera House/main attractions. Hugh was an incredible host, he provided us with all the information we needed and offered us full access to his (huge) private rooftop terrace with a gorgeous view over the city. The apartment itself is beautiful - exactly like the photos and very well maintained. Additionally, the kitchen is stocked with the basics needed for cooking as well as with coffees/teas, etc. We had a fantastic stay in Hugh's apartment and we would highly recommend it. Thanks again to Hugh - we hope to return again one day!

  • We stayed at this Potts Point Apartment in January 2014. It's in a fantastic location, within walking distance to many local shops, restaurants and cafés. Easy access to the Kings Cross subway station and it's possible to walk to Woolamalloo or Sydney Opera House from here. It's a friendly neighbourhood complete with squarking parrots!
The apartment is self contained in a stylish Art Deco building, it's clean and spacious with comfortable beds and good wifi.
Hugh and family were very welcoming and gave us plenty of advice about the local area and things to do.
We really enjoyed our stay and would have been happy to stay longer. It felt as if we lived there.
