About this listing
Our studio apartment is located in a friendly neighborhood, walking distance to the town of Middlebury, Middlebury College and a twenty minute drive to the Middlebury College Snow Bowl. We are about 40 minutes from Sugarbush and Killington. Our cozy studio apartment includes internet, cable TV, propane stove for heat, bathroom with shower, kitchenette and double bed. The space is about 350 square feet. There are plenty of great eateries, in Middlebury, but if you choose to stay in, our kitchenette allows you to cook your own meal for a nice night at home. there is a laundry facility and grocery store less than a mile from our house. We offer on site parking too! I work from home, so if there is ever a question, I am easily accessible to assist.
We don't have a lot of rules. We ask for quiet and respectful guests in our neighborhood and to treat our space as if it were yours.
Wendy was a lovely host to me and my husband! She was very accomodating, happy to answer questions about the surrounding area, and helpful in all kinds of small things throughout our stay. We had a good amount of privacy but also felt extremely welcomed anytime we interacted with the whole family. The studio is an easy walk into main street Middlebury and was a simple, comfortable place to be for our week-long stay.
My husband and I spent a wonderful weekend in Wendy's apartment this Feb. and the picture here is actually a highly accurate depiction of the local weather conditions!
Wendy corresponded with us a week beforehand, asked us for any special requirements and provided us with local eatery recommendations. Upon arriving we were greeted and welcomed into our warm and cozy accommodation. Wendy showed us where everything was and gave us the rundown of the town.
The apartment is a perfect size for two; the double bed is tucked back into a alcove leaving a nice cozy sitting area, with kitchenette and eating table. The feature of this room is a wonderful gas fire, so warm and inviting when the outside temp is -7!
The reason we came to Middlebury was to attend a sporting event at Middlebury College and this apartment was a perfect location for this purpose. It is well located in a quiet, residential community about a 10 minute walk from the town (without snow) and it would probably be around 20 - 30 min walk to the college. Driving to the Athletic Center took about 8 mins.
Despite the wintery conditions outside, inside we had plenty of warm blankets, towels and hot water. The kitchenette is well stocked; plates, mugs, glasses, silverware and Wendy provided some tasty breakfast items and cheese so we had had something to munch on before venturing off into the cold. For our last meal simply grabbed a few snacks and a bottle of wine and sat in front of the fire watching the TV.
I would highly recommend Wendy's for visiting Middlebury or attending events at the College and we are very grateful for a warm and comfortable place to stay. We loved the town; charming shops to browse and plenty of places to eat. We would highly recommend Storm Cafe and the Bagel Shop about 5 minutes walk from Wendy's for the best bagels, donuts and coffee in town and if you like salad bars don't miss Fire and Ice!
Thank you Wendy for making our weekend in Vermont and warm and cheery one!
This studio is a great place to stay if you are visiting either the town or college of Middlebury. It is a decently long walk to campus, but not an unpleasant or difficult one. The room itself is exactly what we needed, and the hosts left us some basic food supplies so we could take care of our own breakfast. The room has a comfortable bed, and stayed warm for us even on the coldest days. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in town, this room is a great choice.
This is a terrific option for those not wanting to stay at a hotel: quiet, private, conveniently located and the hosts were great. The studio has it's own entrance and is separate enough from the main residence that our coming and going was not disturbing, especially comforting since we arrived around midnight our first night.
My husband and I were in Middlebury for just one night to attend a wedding. When I saw Wendy's listing for her studio apartment I was thrilled to get something so close to the venue. Wendy was a great host and has a nice little place. She left us some nice little treats which was very nice. I would definite stay again when in Vermont. Beautiful area, fall color everywhere, and lots of great rain. Thank you Wendy for your hospitality!
Wendy Hirdler's room and hospitality were wonderful. The room was cozy, quiet, clean, and restful. Wendy was extremely friendly and accommodating. The neighborhood is very nice. We were visiting the MIddlebury campus and it was an easy walk. Wonderful place and host!
The studio was a really nice place to stay. We had a totally private environment in the studio. It has everything we need. I like the propane stove most. And Wendy was really nice to us. It was quite during night and has really fresh air in the morning. I would definitely recommend others to visit there!
About the Host, Wendy
My name is Wendy Hirdler, I am married with two boys, ages 10 and 12. My family has lived in Middlebury for about 7 years, and we feel very lucky to live in such a great town! My husband is a senior estimator in commercial construction, and I am a lecture agent (booking public speakers) for clients around the U.S. and Internationally. We love the outdoors and we travel quite a bit around Vermont during our oldest son's hockey season. We love to get away on weekends, and our favorite place, other than Vermont, is Maui! We love to have people visit, and we are excited to share all the "to dos" in our town!
