Hi! We're a couple with a spare private room to offer in the heart of Park Slope Brooklyn. Two blocks from the F/G and R subways, and three blocks from Prospect Park, and a 20 minute ride to Manhattan. Use of the internet connection, share use of kitchen and bathroom. The neighborhood is excellent, there are great restaurants and little shops all along the Park Slope 5th Avenue! The apartment is 20 short blocks from the brand new Barclays Center for those looking to enjoy a concert or Brooklyn Nets basketball game. A family friendly, quiet neighborhood close to Manhattan with so much to offer!
Keys should be made to fit - but those we had been given didn't. As our host Kyle was not in town during the weekend we stayed in New York City, and due to obvious miscommunication between him and his roommate, who wasn't at home to let us in as we had been told before, we had to travel all over Brooklyn with our suitcases to fetch the keys from her workplace. When we returned, the keys didn't open the apartment door so we couldn't get in until his roommate came home from work at 5.00 a.m. The next day, his roommate gave us some newly made keys which finally fit.
We would have liked to avoid being partially 'homeless', an exhaustive night in Brooklyn, taxi rides and subway rides all over Brooklyn. The least thing Kyle could do was to reimburse the first night. He finally did so but only after sending a reminder almost two weeks after we had left.
Next time, we will hopefully find a nicer place and a more capable host in New York.
We called Kyle in the morning and told him the time of our arrival. When we arrived it seemed like he had just woken up and was not very friendly. The room was clean and the bed was adequate. We did not see Kyle even when we left the place. We tried a few times to get him by knocking at his door and calling hem but he never answered. We did not feel welcomed.
Kyle's place is situated in a great neighborhood. It is very close to the subway station. It perfectly corresponds to the description. Kyle and Sophia are a very very nice friendly couple. We would definitely go again.
Great place, great people!
Kyle and Sophia are incredibly kind and helpful, and the location is handy for getting around New York (a subway station is only a few blocks away). The room has air conditioning, the bed was perfectly comfortable for me, and the whole flat was perfectly clean and pleasant to stay in.
Yes it's not the Ritz, but personally I'd rather stay here than a swanky hotel: this place is unpretentious and run by lovely people.
If you want to get to know your hosts then ask Kyle about his work, he has a brilliant passion for it, and share some jokes with Sophia.
If I'm back in New York, I'll be looking to stay here again. Thanks guys!
The apartment is conveniently located and the room very spacious. Easy access to kitchen and bathroom. We didn't see a lot of Kyle and Sophia, but they were very flexible and friendly! I would definitely stay there again
Park Slope Awesome was anything but. This was our first time using airbnb and I now realize that more diligence is needed when choosing places to stay. The brownstone is dirty starting at the front door of the building. Our room itself was not air conditioned, the bed was unspeakable ( a convertible couch with 3 inch mattress over bars made us feel like we'd slept on the rack), and the shared bathroom was not clean or safe. Two of my sisters had other places within 4 blocks of Kyle and Sophia that were palaces compared to K&Sophia's. I got the impression that they were just trying to make the rent by being on airbnb and Sophia in particular was not happy about it. There were dirty dishes in the kitchen sink...I could go on and on. Yes, I'll definitely use airbnb again but will exercise more due diligence when doing so. In this case, you truly do get what you pay for.
stayed 1 night. friendly couple. lovely exercise to get to 4th floor.
comfortable bed. great location. good bang for your buck.
Kyle's place was great! Very neat, clean and plenty of space for two to stay comfortably. Kyle was friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the Park Slope area.
Apartment is very conveniently located, clean, spacious, secure. Kyle was attentive, friendly and laid-back, but not intrusive. Kitchen and bathroom are clean, well maintained and easy to use. I would definitely stay there again. One thing to note is that the bed is a futon with a wire frame, not a true mattress; it was comfortable enough, but I'm not sure I'd want to sleep there for too many nights in a row.
Kyle's apartment was exactly what I was looking for: easy access to the subway as well as local restaurants/bars. When I arrived everything was clean and ready for me to get there. My only real complaint is that the bed was actually a futon (albeit a relatively comfortable one) that was only bothersome because I'm tall enough that my feet bump against the arms. Otherwise, good place, good location, good people
