If you are in Panama please make time to visit Mount Totumas. Amazing place and wonderful people. We felt priviliged to have had the opportunity to stay here. The scenery is stunning, the wildlife abundant and the accommodation excellent. Jeff and Alma are great hosts and couldn't be more welcoming. Alma is a fantastic cook and Jeff is so passionate about the land and their project that it is both inspiring and infectious.
I had a great time with my three sons Rene (13), Raul (12) and Paul (7) at Mount Totuma Cloud forest Resort.
We stayed at their Cabin. We had plenty of space and felt very comfortable. Full Kitchen, Four Beds, Hot Water, etc. Great stay.
Wi Fi is very good, given we where very far from civilization.
Jeffry, is a great Host and Tour Guide. He took us to this trails around the property. A nice two hour walk, where we saw Pavas, Colorado Monkeys, a strange big bird called Manitou. We also did some trekking on our own, and discovered two amazing Waterfalls.
Hummingbirds are everywhere. Jeffry has a a great way to see Hummingbirds face to face. Check this out: (website hidden)
Jeffrie's wife, Alma, is a great cook. We had great dinners and breakfast at their cabin. Super Deal!
They are building a new bigger Cabin, that I hope I can rent some time in the future and visit them with my Dad and Mom.
Highly recommended if you want a couple days up in the mountain, away from civilization.

It was the best accomodation we had in Panama. The house and the nature is wonderful. Everything was well organized (Description to come there, the marked trails, the kitchen stuff). We love it to see the hummingbirds at their feeder. It's a paradiise. The way to come is an adventure.
Our stay at the cloud forest was amazing. The location is absolutely breathtaking with a porch to watch the clouds roll over the mountains and the numerous hummingbirds that are right in-front of the house. The house was very comfortable and has all that is required including a well stocked kitchen, we got enough food at the supermarket which is in volcan town for a week. The use of internet was very much welcome after coming back from a 3 hour hike. There are several hiking paths you can take through lush vegitation. We saw the howler monkeys as well as some very unusual birds including the quetzal. The kids were absolutely in love with the two horses that we were able to use on our hikes.....Just Amazing, we will be back.
If you go one place in Panama...go to Mount Totumas. This place is truly amazing. Hummingbirds, monkeys, waterfalls, hot springs combined with highs temps in the 70s! In my many attempts to get "off the beaten path" I do not think I have ever been so far off while still being so comfortable. The cabin was very well equipped and easily accommodated our group of 5 while still leaving one big bed untouched. The hiking trails were very well marked and the sights were amazing. Jefferey and his crew have a vision for restoring and conserving this property that is truly a word-wide gem. I hope to return in 20 years and see that little has changed!
