About this listing
Thank you for checking out my listing!
This listing is for a beautiful 1-bed garden flat with private entrance in a Victorian mansion house. The bedroom has a double bed, the bathroom has a bath tub and shower, there is a walk-in closet with some shelving and hanging space for your clothes (including washing machine), and lovely open-plan living room and kitchen with floor-to-ceiling French doors overlooking a private garden. There are original wooden floors throughout. The flat is lived in by its owner outside of renting it so it will feel like a home away from home - cozy and romantic (a little quirky too). Please note that the flat is on the ground floor (first floor in the U.S.) but there are seven steps leading up to the bedroom.
The kitchen is stocked with some of the basics that you might find useful: tea (black and herbal), coffee, jam, butter, marmalade, and plenty of herbs and spices. Fresh rosemary is grown in the garden, so please help yourself :)
The flat is in a safe and up-and-coming area sandwiched between the lively and vibrant area of Brixton (excellent food, bars, concert hall, cinema) and the picturesque and quiet Dulwich Village (some beautiful quintessential English pubs - feels like you're in a lovely little English village!). Tulse Hill has some lovely cafes, wonderful pubs, supermarkets, pharmacy and a beautiful park (Brockwell park, where you can see amazing views of the London skyline) in walking distance (no more than 5 minutes) of the flat. If you want to experience living in a real London neighborhood, then this is one of the best areas in South London.
Tulse Hill has excellent transport links. The flat is a 3 minute walk from Tulse Hill train station (overground) with frequent and direct connections to London Bridge (15 minutes) and St Pancras International (25 mins); buses serve all other mainline train stations (all 24 hours). Brixton is the closest tube station - 5-10 minute bus ride away.

The flat is for 2 persons, but I am willing to consider a third person for a supplement of 20GBP per night as I have an airbed that will fit in the bedroom or lounge.
The flat is ideally suited for single travellers/professionals and couples traveling through London who want to see a bit of authentic London. The flat is available on a fairly flexible basis so please ask if you have specific dates in mind.
Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
The entire apt and private garden at the back of the apt.
The flat is in a residential area so guests should be kind and considerate of the neighbours and keep noise levels down.
Smoking is only allowed outside in the garden.
The lounge is light and airy overlooking a landscaped garden. You are welcome to use the TV or choose from a selection of DVDs. Scrabble and cards are also here for your enjoyment.
Our main criteria in chosing this flat were: convenience of location for our family members in the neighbourhood and Tulse Hill rail station; and a comfortable place to stay. The flat met these needs very well.
Met Mary in her delightful garden flat. It was perfect for us as we wanted to stay mostly in the area but it's only 5 minutes walk to the nearest train station with very regular trains to the centre of London. Great size bedroom and kitchen living room with all you would need. Very clean and homely. And if you get some nice weather a lovely garden to sit out in. Thanks again Mary. Recommended!
I really enjoyed staying at Mary's apartment. It is in a quite and safe neighborhood and it is located 5 minutes away from the Nearest overground which makes it convenient for getting to central London. The place is neatly decorated and the outside garden is a lovely addition which you can use to have a drink or a little meal on a warm summer evening. Everything was as presented on the website and she had many great recommendations for things to do around the area. The place is also close to some parks in the vicinity so you can go on lovely morning runs. It's not in central London but it is fairly close and convenient for a short relaxing stay.
A wonderful flat, has everything you need, truly enjoyed myself. In a great area, good local links. Mary and her father were very helpful and flexible, thanks again for helping me on my last minute request! Forever grateful.
Mary was a lovely host! Her flat was perfect for a weekend in London. Lots of nice touches - we really appreciated the well stocked kitchen (including a coffee machine), the cosy front room and the quiet and comfortable bedroom. The flat is located only a few minutes walk from Tulse Hill station which has excellent connections to the centre of London. Local attractions such as Brockwell Park, Dulwich, Herne Hill and Brixton are within walking distance or a short bus/taxi ride away. Highly recommended!
Very pleasant stay in Mary's cosy flat. Mary was very accommodating & made us feel relaxed in her home. The flat was lovely & had everything we needed for our stay.
Had a very pleasant stay at this cosy and homely flat, that is fantastically located minutes from Tulse Hill station and bus stops serving central London.
Everything was well maintained and the flat was full of character reflecting its host. The bed was very comfortable and the flat also has a small garden. The host was very helpful with the last minute request and I would recommend this as a good option for 1 or 2 people.
About the Host, Mary
I'm a born and bred Londoner who recently moved back to South London to be closer to friends and family....for now. I was living in New York (Upper East Side, Harlem and Tribeca) for four years as an editor for a small international book publisher and continue to work for this company in London. I spend a good part of the year travelling to the U.S. and Europe and in my spare time love watching independent/foreign films, playing tennis, cycling, and discussing politics. I just started learning Spanish so that I can spend more time in Central and South America :)
