I have one large, furnished, private room in a two-bedroom apartment and shared bathroom. The apt building is in an excellent location in the heart of Long Island City/Queens near museums, boutiques, bars, restaurants, coffee shops. The apt is 2-3 blocks to the subway: E, M, 7, and G trains. 15-20 minutes from midtown Manhattan.
The room and apt:
-The apt is on the 1st floor of the building
-Equipt with gas heat, electric, wi-fi, cable (dvr, AC- cable in your room)
-Room has a queen bed, dresser, bedstand, wardrobe, tv and tv stand... there is room for a little more.
Who I am:
I am a young, 43 year woman working in Manhattan. I'm a College Administrator at Hunter College-CUNY. My students keep me young..most people think I'm in my early 30's (very up on pop culture ;-) I work M-F, 9-5, but I'm social so I may be out a few nights a week- usually at the gym or yoga. I'm pretty chill though- like to relax and watch tv (I heart sports too).
Dog-lovers only! :-) I have a gorgeous 9-yr old Olde English Bulldogge named Cody. He is the sweetest most well-behaved pup. He will immediately treat you like family but he is very obedient. My bdlg is pet friendly so if you are traveling with any animals we can chat about you bringing a pet too-my boy loves other animals (cats, dogs) they would preferably get get to meet first, but I realize this may not be possible. (There is a dogpark 1 1/2 blocks away). I also have two fabulous dogwalkers so you could use them as well, if needed.
Pre-war..lots of character, friendly neighbors, amazing super. Laundry is in the building behind us or a few blocks away. Free, quick laundry pick up and drop off service in the neighborhood. There is ample long-term parking on the streets surrounding the bdlg.
Sorry, no smoking in the apt. Linens, towels, hair dryer and iron provided.
BEFORE YOU BOOK, PLEASE NOTE:
Please make sure to check the MTA Subway Train Service Advisories before booking as there have been changes to the train schedules in my area lately. Search for MTA Subway Service Advisories on the web and choose the E, M, 7 and G train lines.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Your own set of keys! Come and go as you please. :-)
It was a nice time with Lori and Cody ! She was really helpful when we had questions or if we needed something ! :))
If we will visit New York again we will stay at Lori's house for sure! :)
Lori's apartment was perfect: a nice, comfortable room with plenty of storage space, a super gracious host, all in a neighborhood that's both interesting in and of itself and also easy access to any number of places in Manhattan. I'll definitely be back to visit Lori and Cody!
Lori said "my home is your home" and it was true, we felt like home!
Our stay was great, everything was faithful to the description. Cody is adorable! It was our first experience with airbnb and if we have to come back in New York it will be at Lori's house for sure! Thanx for your sympathy and your help, we're delighted!
Great stay...Lori is such a kind host. We have stayed there for 5 nights. Everything was fine and clean. All what we wanted to know about the City, Lori told us. And Cody...well, we would say he is the craziest dog we have ever seen :)
If you wanna discover NY, Lori's apartment is a good address to stay. We recommend this offer!
Staying at Lori's whas very comfortable and Lori and Cody are very friendly.
Its very near at two subway stations and getting to the major city attractions is at 15-20 minutes.
See you soon
Accommodation at Lori´s apartment was one of the greatest we´ve ever had. Everything was great and the room was so clean and nice. We feel there little bit like at home. It was only a few minutes to get to the Manhattan. And even we met Lori´s and her doggie Cody just for a while, it was a big pleasure to meet them.
What you are watching on the photos is the truth: the room is very comfortable; Lori and Codi are the best company you could find in a big city like New York. I loved chatting and sharing my adventures with Lori: she is nice, smart, fun and a good friend.
If you want to try this kind of trip, if you want to go to NY...believe me: Long Island City is the best choice! It is 2 stops from Manhattan and you'll be close to everything, from Brooklyn to Central Park, you can go everywhere you want.
I'm gonna miss Lori, Codi and New York: I hope to see them soon!
Have a good journey guys!
Lori was a great host! She was always really helpful for me and my friend, and gave us a lot of tips for our time in NYC.
The flat is well-situated, we've been in Manhattan within a few minutes with the sub. As we should feel like home, Lori allowed us to use the kitchen, TV.... So we could really enjoy our time in NYC!
Since we first stepped into Lori's home, we really felt we found "home away from home". Feeling you are like in your home even if you are far away from your country, is a very good ingredient that guarantees your happy traveling : )
Lori is a very welcoming host and her apartment is very warm not only for the nice temperature, which made it lovely to come home when outside was freezing, but also for the way she takes care about you and your well being. She prepared for us everything we needed and more: a very detailed welcome pack with instructions about the house and the area; a nice and comfortable bed in a quite big room for us; plenty of towels at our disposition if you needed them; lovely strong shower to wake you up in the morning; kitchen at our disposition; leaflets and guides we could read or borrow and more. We also enjoyed the company of Cody, her very friendly dog. He is a real gentleman-dog, very well educated, that loves to play with you but also respects your privacy. We were really impressed by his good manners :)
I am sure that if we stayed longer we would have taken him around with us to visit New York City while Lori was working! It is lovely to visit and discover NY from this strategic base-point as the metro station to Manhattan is very near and you can reach it by 5 minutes on foot. And then, you arrive to the heart of the city very quickly! The area is quiet, well connected, near to a park by the waterline where you can see Manhattan Skyline. Shops and restaurants are nearby as well.
To sum it up, we had a great stay at Lori and Cody's place. She is a very good hearted person and staying at their place added a plus to the great experience of visiting New York. Thank you and hope to see you and Cody soon in Barcelona : ) A lot of hugs.
My husband and I stayed with Lori for about 2 weeks and we really enjoyed it. The room is spacious with good storage space for all your things, plus a TV. The rest of the apartment was also lovely with a good sized living space and big kitchen for NYC standards. Lori was an amazing host, extremely accommodating and went out of her way to help us when we needed it. We spent many nights just chatting and enjoying each others company. Last but not least, Cody the dog is perfect!! We fell in love with everything about him, he is very very friendly and would love to have a play if you are up for it, but he's also happy to laze around and be cute!!! Location is convenient and close to transport and restaurants.
