The Space

ANNOUNCEMENT - Nashville has just become a Lyft city! What Airbnb is to hotel, Lyft is to taxi! Quick, courteous service at 20% off the cost of local fares AND a fraction of the wait time. Download the app and feel free to ask us any questions!

Cute renovated cabin in West Nashville with two young cool people who can help you find neat things to do in town! Shared bathroom, access to kitchen as needed, open to short midnight road trip crashers or long term guests.

Only 5 miles from downtown, 2 minutes from I-40 (which will take you anywhere you need to go around town), our Casita is just what you're looking for!

The Casita is a Removed 1-room guest house in our backyard with a separate entrance. Well-equipped with heat and a/c. It's still a developing work in progress; the ceiling still needs finishing (hence the low price), but you won't even notice when you step inside. The casita is charming and warm, and will provide the perfect escape for you on your trip to Nashville.

The casita will accommodate 4 guests comfortably: 2 on the full-sized bed and an optional 2 on the futon which folds out into a second full-sized bed. Both mattresses have memory-foam toppers, and are comfortable for short or longer stays. If you have more than 4 in your party, please ask about accommodations; we have an office/guest room in the house which will sleep 1 person on a twin mattress. The charge for the fifth person will be an extra $20 instead of $10.

The casita also has a desk and chair, room to hang clothes, two robes for your use during your stay, and a big window looking out into the backyard. Though there is no bathroom in the casita, you will love the shared bathroom in the main house! It features a beautiful modern pedestal tub, great for long soaks after a day exploring music city!

The casita has a Keurig and a kettle so you can help yourself to a cup of coffee or tea when you wake up to the sounds of the rooster next door.

For those who have food to store or prepare, the casita has a mini-fridge, a microwave, and a selection of hot teas. For more elaborate cooking, guests will have free use of the main kitchen by request & arrangement (so we don't plan to cook the same night!).

Check out is 10am, check in is 4pm, but we are flexible - just make arrangements at least 24 hours before your stay if you'd like to arrive earlier or stay later.

Free parking with space in enclosed (gated) driveway if you prefer. Dogs welcome; I have two dogs: a small terrier and a medium/large black labradoodle who do not have access to the casita. Big fenced backyard with firepit and lovely back porch; you're welcome to enjoy a fire outside, or in the fireplace in the living room (make arrangements in advance so we can have firewood for you - we will ask that you chip in $3 for wood).

Want to take a bike ride? I have 2 bicycles available for your use during your stay, which you can take to one of many awesome restaurants and bars within 2 miles!

A NOTE about my dogs: Lucy, my terrier, is 15 years old now, and is showing signs of some senility - including occasionally doing her business in inconvenient places, like in the paved driveway in the backyard. While I do my best to pick up after them both daily, sometimes I get busy or miss a mess. Regrettably some guests have been pretty turned off by this in the past. Know before you come - doggies mean doggie poo!

I look forward to hosting you!

Interaction with Guests

I tend to leave the interaction level up to the guest. If you're a people person who wants to go out or have dinner, let's do it! If you need time and space to work or catch up on rest, I will not disturb you.

The Neighborhood

West Nashville has all the necessities covered (groceries, target/walmart about 6 minutes away), plus great restaurants (try the Wild Hare, the Blue Moon, or the Stone Fox!) and fun thrift shopping on Charlotte Pike if you're into funky and eclectic vintage stuff. Our house is located in a super safe and friendly neighborhood, with an adorable family-friendly park (Charlotte Park) just 2 blocks up the street - great for morning/afternoon walks. Small community grocery store 2 blocks away for last-minute needs.

Getting around

There is a bus stop about 1 mile from my house. If you plan to come without a car of your own, I strongly recommend making arrangements with in advance about getting rides about town. Due to Nashville's small size and many sporting and entertainment events, getting a taxi to come out to pick you up when you're at the house can mean a long wait on the wrong day - which is why Lyft is a great alternative. I'm open to dropping you off in town or at a bus stop if you need -- just make arrangements before your stay.

  • Nashville is much prettier in the summer than Charlotte's dreary winter pictures show! The casita was just right for us since we don't mind sharing a bathroom space--and Charlotte was very accomodating. It's nice to be in a separate building, and Charlotte's put together a comfy but versatile little space in her casita, with a little desk and minifridge and wifi. I love that she included a guide to Nashville (book) and suggestions of things to do and places to eat. Cute little neighborhood full of people who love fireworks (we were there for the 4th of July).

  • First, before and during our stay, Charlotte was super quick in responding to emails.

We were originally supposed to arrive at 6pm, but Charlotte was extremely accommodating and allowed us to check in early before the official 4 pm time. The Casita is exactly as advertised, a no-frills, unfinished garage shed with a full bed, futon, microwave, mini fridge, Keurig coffee maker, and AC. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom is located 30 feet away in the main house, accessible at any time. There are two dogs on the property, a 6 month old playful black puppy and a mellow, older white dog.

The Grand Ole Opry and Downtown Nashville were about 25 minutes and 10 minutes away by car, respectively. If you are a country music fan, try to catch a concert either at Grand Ole Opry or the Ryman. If you like southern cooking, try out Monelle's or Arnold's. If you like history, take a tour of Belmont Mansion and the Parthenon reproduction in the Centennial Park. (Farther away, if you like spelunking, visit the Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky.)

  • We had a great stay at Charlotte's Casita. We booked on short notice and Charlotte was very accommodating with everything. My friend and I both got a great nights sleep.

  • We loved the casita! When we arrived, charlotte was at work but we had a lot of communication beforehand and we were able to get settled comfortably. The air conditioning was a blessing in the heat, as well as the great shower! The casita was stocked with basically anything one might need and the bed was comfortable. There was a list on the wall with a bunch of things to do around town. We got to meet Charlotte a little later and she was great. I fell in love with the dog Mowgli. Would definitely return!

  • Charlotte was incredibly friendly and gave me great recommendations on bookshops and restaurants nearby. The casita was very comfortable and cute, and I enjoyed the Keurig tea in the morning :) She outfitted the place with all sorts of guides to Nashville and a mini library - the fairy lights add a nice touch too! Charlotte's backyard, where the casita is located, is lovely and her two dogs are sweethearts. I would definitely recommend this listing to others - it was very convenient and comfortable!

  • Charlotte's casita was the perfect spot for our night in Nashville. Charlotte was friendly and helpful, and accommodated our last minute travel plans with ease. The casita itself was well equipped for our needs: comfy bed, AC, wifi, mini fridge, and coffee for the morning. The location is a bit off the beaten track, maybe not the best option if you're looking to be out late downtown. But if you're looking for rest, it's great. The neighborhood is safe and quiet, and even had a couple tasty food options close by. Would definitely recommend it!

I'm a PhD student at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.I love traveling, and am so excited to be a part of this awesome home sharing community! I love being a hostess, from baking to making coffee and finding ways to meet the needs of guests. I'm a knitter and spinner (yep! I Spins my own yarn!) and love my dogs. . I'm so thrilled to be a member of airbnb, and have loved being both a host AND guest in this community. If you're a little nervous about it - don't be! That's what public reviews are for, and email/phone exchanges make you feel better about the whole process if it's your first time. I recommend that you utilize airbnb's tools like messaging and calling, so you can get to know your hosts and the charm their city has to offer.
