  • We had a great stay! The accommodations and host Sharr was very nice. Our casa was clean and quiet while being very close to a beautiful and almost private at times beach. Highlights of our trip were having a color changing chameleon fall from the tree while having breakfast (great coffee included) and renting surfboards directly from Sharr for a very reasonable fee.

  • To be honest we didn't get to stay in the apartments at Casa Camaleon because other guests wanted to extend their stay (which I can only assume means good things) but we ended up testing out a new property Sharr is developing and things went wonderfully. It wasn't perfect because it's basically in the middle of a half finished construction site but her design and the little house itself was wonderful. I cannot wait to see how it all turns out! It was still only a few minute walk to the beach and some local restaurants, so no complaints there. Sharr was also a fantastic host and set my boyfriend and I up on surfing lessons that were a ton of fun and cheaper than anything we spotted in town. Her gardener lived across the way and was very helpful whenever we needed him and was super friendly. A huge thank you to Sharr for making our stay in Playa Grande so great!

  • If your looking to stay away from the bustle of Tamarindo and have kilometers of beach to yourself, this is the place to stay. We had such a fantastic visit in Playa Grande with Sharr. Casa Camaleon was perfectly tucked away with lots of space to keep cool and relax if the sun was getting to hot. The beach is so close and the sunsets are breathe taking!! We enjoyed reading in the hammock the most and having dinner on the front patio. Everything was clean and the space was just enough. The air conditioning was the icing in the cake. All the amenities you could need are provided and the charming grocery store "Wil-Mart" is located within a 10 minute walk in the private estates, which has everything you could need to survive and more. If you want to head over to Tamarindo a quick water taxi was our solution from either Hotel Bula Bula for $3 or take a walk on beach and catch it for $1.

Thanks so much for you valued recommendations, map and information about the area Sharr!

    Pura Vida,

We will be seeing you soon!

  • I can't say enough good things about Sharr! She took care of us from the quick response of the first email to the day we left. She welcomed our dog, Bentley with open arms! She is a fantastic host and will help you with anything you need.
The place was fantastic. Super comfortable bed, great kitchen and perfect location. Super quiet and close to the beach. Little water taxi across the river and you are in Tamarindo.

  • Wow what can I say... Sharr and her beautiful family were excellent hosts. I rented the front studio for 12 days and it was exactly as pictured, very comfortable with everything I needed. They gave me the lay of the land and I was off to explore. I traveled as a single woman and felt very safe and at home actually. I did not want to leave and now I know why there are so many expats there. I deeply enjoyed the peace and quiet of casa cameleon and Playa Grande in general. When I wanted to partake in more action or variety I was able to take a beautiful short boat ride across the estuary into Tamarindo. I also found the beaches at Playa Grande to be much better than in Tamarindo. I was looking to enjoy a more quiet serene environment and Sharr and her family provided that. I also really enjoyed getting to know Sharr. Their home and the area is truly pura vida. If you're looking for this type of experience definitely book this space. I know I'll be back soon.

  • Casa camaleon was perfect, close to the beach safe clean and cozy. Did not have the pleasure of meeting Sharr but Nathalie was very accommodating, more like a concierge, with all the answers and ideas on where to go. We felt like we were on a deserted beach. Sharr recommended a 4x4 and we were not disappointed with the decision.

  • Wow-what a phenomenal location. Just a 10 min walk and 1 min ($1) boat ride to get to Tamarindo. This location is separated from Tamarindo by an estuary (with crocodiles-no reason to be afraid unless you try swimming across). Most tourists lodge in downtown Tamarindo (too touristy!), so this location is like a hidden gem with secluded beaches, blossoming flowers, and chirping birds outside your window. Lodging was clean with a large bed and decent kitchenette. Extra shower for rinsing off outside and a washing basin too. No table for eating inside, but it wasn’t needed-we used a tray that was on our shelf and had dinner in bed-fantastic! Sharr and her husband are extremely accommodating-gave us all the know for the local area, picked us up from a drop off point since we didn’t have cars, and also had surf boards for rent ($20 same as price in town)-too bad we didn’t have time to use them. There are a few restaurants (mmm good) and a tiny super market in Guanacaste within walking distance if you don’t feel like crossing the estuary or driving around. Many English speakers around here with beautiful homes. Bring bug spray for the evenings. Wifi was good except for a power outage during a rainstorm. We always felt safe. Thanks Sharr!

  • Casa cameleon was everything we needed. Casual, friendly, accommodating and comfortable! Our hosts were lovely and very helpful. We even stayed an extra night longer than we planned since we loved it so much!

  • Convenient location if you have a rental car. Walking distance to the beach. AWESOME burger spots nearby (within walking and driving distance).

Kitchen wasn't the most convenient if you're looking to be making most of your meals (very cramped and small hot pad), but nearby lots of restaurants if that's not your thing!
