THE HOUSE

This is a fully equipped one bedroom apartment, recently renovated in a lovely, independent 19th century two-storey house – one of the few of its kind in the center of Athens.

The 67 sq.meters / 720 sq.ft flat is on the UPPER floor of the house and can accommodate 2-4 persons. It consists of one bedroom, a living room with a double sofa-bed (120X196cm), a dining room,a fully equipped kitchen, a corridor and a bathroom.

The apartment is decorated with unique items from different periods of Athens and consitutes a strong reminiscent of the city's romantic and neoclassical movements of the early 19th century.

Located on a delightful, shady pedestrian street, you will enjoy unique peace and quiet, away from the noise of the bustling city. Although you are in the very heart of Athens you could swear you’re in a village!

The house’s traditional architecture, with its thick stone walls, provides a natural shelter from extreme temperatures both in summer and winter –plus there is state of the art air-conditioning, 24/7 instant-on warm water and independent heating. Other amenities include free Wi-Fi internet, TV, dvd /cd player, washing machine, and more.

THE LOCATION

The historic district of Mets lies to the east of the Acropolis, opposite the Zappeion Gardens, just south of the Panathenaic Stadium where the first modern Olympics were held in 1896.Unique for its delightful old Athenian houses dating from the 19th century, Mets is renowned for its many pedestrian streets, gardens and parks surrounding it. Right in the heart of Athens, this quiet and extremely safe residential district is home to many Greek artists, actors and writers.

Streets are shaded by flowering trees, lined with neoclassical houses, and filled with the scent of jasmine and bougainvillea: Mets is a taste of old Athens, full of pre-World War II houses with tiled roofs and charming courtyards. It's one of the most beautiful neighborhoods to explore in the city, with excellent dining and nightlife options, from trendy bars with stunning views to the Acropolis to one of Europe’s finest jazz clubs.

  • The traditional house was just perfect, furnishings, location, neighborhood. We even had a serenade by a accordionist on our last day, a Sunday. My friend and I so enjoyed coming back to our home in Athens.
We booked 2 tours with Tina and they were both awesome and actually were the high points of our visit in Athens. Special thanx to Antonis for the Night Bar Hopping and Tina and Elena for the Alternative City Walk.
And with our Port and Airport tranfers arranged by Tina with Vassilis and Chryssa we were well looked after. Shall come back again.

  • We had a short stay as we arrived late at night and had an early departure. Apartment antique yet beautiful. Slight odour and a bit quirky, but served the purpose. • Had a great time at Tina's, everything we needed was there to make our stay that much more relaxing. Tina's communication with us from initial booking to arrival was exceptional. We also took advantage of an Alternate Athens Walking Tour with Tina's partner Nat. The tour was fantastic and so was Nat who treated us as friends not just tourists. We were both amazed at the information that Nat imparted to us of Athens and its multi layered culture. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Another tour organised by Tina for us was the Athens Food Tour. This tour was conducted by Melina, another incredibly knowledgeable guide who gave our palates the best time their lives. Melina went out of her way to show us the best of Athens hidden eateries and we enjoyed every minute! Bravo, Melina. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Tina's traditional house in Athens. The apartment is super cute and very well appointed with antiques and mementos. The neighborhood of Mets was a good location for us to walk around the main historic sites of Athens. It's about a 20-25 min walk from the apartment to the Acropolis area. Tina gave us recommendations for restaurants in the area in a binder left at the apartment. There's definitely good restaurants in walking distance but for the more hip neighborhood with nightlife it's probably better to take a taxi.

We also did the Alternative Athens Food Tour (Lisa's company) and loved it! It was a wonderful way to see the city and try lots of delicious Greek food. The only other thing I'd note is that the shower head is one you have to hold -- it's not mounted to the wall which we're a bit more familiar with in the US. Also, we really appreciated the fast wifi, coffee for the coffee maker and helpfulness in arranging transfers to the apartment.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Tina's house very much. It is a very cozy place with a great location (walking distance to the Acropolis!) Well furnished, clean, and spacious for 3 people. Would definitely stay here again.

About
Hi there! I am a native Athenian who has travelled extensively around the world. I love discovering new places and new cultures and my own city never ceases to surprise me... Three more things i love: movies, animals and authentic, delicious food! It will be a pleasure to help you discover a different Athens and get a true understanding of what this city is really about, just as I have done with numerous friends and collegues from abroad over the years.
