Right in the heart of Athens, this quiet and extremely safe residential district is home to many Greek artists, actors and writers.
Streets are shaded by flowering trees, lined with neoclassical houses, and filled with the scent of jasmine and bougainvillea: Mets is a taste of old Athens, full of pre-World War II houses with tiled roofs and charming courtyards. The newly renovated neoclassical house dates from the 1870s and is a listed building - as such it has retained all the original characteristics like the tiled roof, thick stone walls, wrought iron door, inner courtyard, etc...
Wonderful hosts! House was in a perfect location and appointed with everything we needed. Would definitely stay again!
Great location to see the sights in Athens and the lovely national park is near by. Helpful advice from Elissavet about good places to see and eat. The house is old and full of interesting and authentic pieces. The only thing we would suggest needs improving is the mattress is a bit old and doesn't offer great support for the back.
Amazing apartment, clean, well looked after. A real apartment and not a hotel. Really friendly and helpful hosts who met us at the apartment and gave us advice on transport and things to do, and quickly answered all of our queries before we arrived. Internet is fast and the location is central. Couldn't have been happier. Just wish I'd gotten to stay longer.
Consigliato!
Tina and Elissavet were wonderful about communicating with us regarding how to get to the home, telling us exactly where to catch the metro, bus, and to walk to after getting off the bus.
Elissavet was at the home to greet us when we arrived even though our flight had been delayed and we were later than expected. She gave us lots of info regarding the house and the neighborhood along with a very handy notebook of information. She told us to use anything we found in the kitchen and make ourselves at home.
We spent 2 fantastic nights at Tina and Elissavet's listing, "Traditional House" in the Mets neighborhood of Athens. They were very easy to communicate with and fast to respond to us. Ellisavet met with us and gave us a tour of the house and many recommendations for activities and restaurants. The elegant apartment is in a nice quite neighborhood, but it's only a short walk from the Acropolis and city center. There are a number of cafes and shops nearby. Also, a nice little bar on the main road called 'Bodega.' We highly recommend this listing! We also took Tina's Alternative Athens tour which gave a great overview of the city's history, neighborhoods, and lesser-known landmarks. We gained a better understanding of the city's architecture and layout too. Very worthwhile!
wunderschöne Wohnoase im Mets-Viertel, 15 min zu Fuß zur Akropolis, sehr nette Gastgeberinnen
