A large room available in Thornbury.
Nightlife and shopping drags on High St are a 30 second walk away. Good live music venues, bars, cafes, 4 minute walk to Thornbury train station and 30 second walk to #86 tram line, 7 minute walk to #112 tramline. It's about 20 minute public transport journey to the cbd.
Within a few blocks you're in Northcote where you can find an entire nights worth of entertainment, with popular pubs like "the Northcote Social club" and great bars like "joes shoe store".
There's a fantastic grocery store down the road called 'psarakos' which sells well priced alcohol and across the road from that is a shop "naturally on high" where you can purchase nuts, grains and organic fruit and veg.
The house has wireless internet. The bathroom is shared but clean. Full kitchen and refrigerator available for your use.
I'm a Melbourne native and enjoy live music (bit of a music freak actually), films, shows, galleries, dining, cooking, writing, singing. Thornbury is a great area with lots to do. Loads of cafes, some groovy bars and live music venues.

I really enjoyed my stay : ) The room and house was very comfortable, spacious and clean. Naomi was friendly and helpful and full of tips when I needed them, as well as easy going and practical about sharing her space, having a chat and things like arranging to get the key. I liked the location, with some nice cafes and music venues down the road, Brunswick street nightlife a 15min tram ride away, & the train to city 20mins outside of morning peak hour or 25-30mins within it
I went to Melbourne for the Australian Open in tennis. I'd sent a few requests for the accommodation and Naomi was the first to respond my inquiry and I am glad she did. The communication by mail after booking the room and prior to my arrival was very swift and reassuring. Although at first her place seemed a little bit far from the center/venue, it's turned out to be no problem at all. There is a tram stop just outside Naomi's house and it will take you downtown in approx. 15-20 min. The room was large as described and her place is just great. There is a charming little garden at the back of the house where you can enjoy your morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evenings. In the area you will also find plenty of multicultural and exiting grocery stores, cafeteria's, bistro's, etc. You name it - they've got it. In my opinion it's a perfect 'base' when you're in Melbourne. Naomi is a lovely person and she has been an easygoing and considerate host. Enjoy Melbourne! :-)
