Experience the REAL Singapore!

Apartment - Private room · Telok Kurau Road, Singapore, 423822, Singapore

Spacious room located at the heart of JOO CHIAT and KATONG!

The Space

Expect a very hospitable, hip and trendy host!
We love to travel and meet new travellers and if you are looking to experience the real Singapore with a 'modern' family, look no further! We are a mother and daughter duo living in this walk-up apartment.

The room that you will be staying in is a QUEEN bedroom. There are 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in our apartment. Needless to say, we provide bedding, linen and free hugs during your stay. ;P

What makes our place unique? THE HOSTS!
We promise to show you the REAL Singapore and not just the touristy stuff!

Guest Access

You will have access to a shared bathroom that will be used by our Airbnb Guests (1 other person). If there is a specific timing that you would need to use the bathroom, just let everyone in the house know and they will accommodate and leave it empty for you to use. We have 2 listings on Airbnb so if the other room is vacant, you will have the bathroom all to yourselves.

Interaction with Guests

Both my mum & I live in the apartment and we love to hang out with our guests whenever we can. Of course, everyone needs some alone time once in a while but if you ever feel lonely or need someone to talk to, we are always there to have a conversation!

The Neighborhood

The city, airport and beach are all a 10-minute cab ride from our apartment. We're also just a stone throw away (5-15 minutes walk) from East Coast Beach, shopping malls like Parkway Parade, I12 Katong, City Plaza and lots of really really good local food. The BEST durian stand in Singapore is located right outside our apartment! Macau's Tycoon, Stanley Ho, often sends his private jet to Singapore just to pick up the durians and have them delivered to him! A couple streets down is the acclaimed Katong Laksa, 5-star Chicken Rice, Banana Leaf Hokkien Mee, Kim Choo Peranakan Food and Beach Road Prawn Mee! You will never feel hungry when you stay here! There is just too much amazing local food around! Don't even bother watching your weight during your stay!

Getting around

Kembangan and Eunos MRT are both less than 15 mins away by foot and 5 mins away by car. A cab ride there will cost you less than $4. The MRT train is the best way to commute around every part of the city. Most tourist attractions will take you 30 mins to get there by Train.

Bus stop (with Bus Number 15 and 155) is right downstairs our apartment and you can literally see it from the window! No need to wait in the scorching heat for the bus! These busses will take you to Toa Payoh, Eunos, Katong and Siglap.

There is also another bus stop with Bus Number 33 only 2 mins away from our house. Bus Number 33 will take you to Chinatown.

You can take the MRT to Kembangan station then take a cab which will cost you less than $4 to reach our home. If you are on a budget, you can take the MRT to Eunos station then take Bus 155 to our door step. The bus ride will cost you less than $1.50.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Great place to stay, true local feeling, close to East Coast park, Joo Chiat rd. and MTR closeby, easy to reach with Bus 15..
A shame they were ripping out the concrete drains on the road in front but I reckon by mid DEC 2013 that should be over and it's peaceful again...
If you are very sensitive to noise like me and want to sleep with open windows I'd recommend the smaller room but it's still relatively quiet if you get up early with everyone else.. (not like me).
Host was on travels but facilities are all there and working, wifi is superfast which was great :-)
    I'm coming again for sure!

  • Everything was clean and the bed was really comfortable. The air con was a little bit noisy though.
Charlyn and Cecilia were traveling through Europe during my stay, but Cecilias brother handled everything perfectly : )

  • Seriously...I didn't have good impression on SG, I failed my previous relationship two years ago there and this time, I failed again there! Can't believe its so coincident! Don't know what to do there and only planed to sleep all days there, Cecilia is so kind to take me to see the beautiful side of SG and delicious food I never tried there, really really appreciate her time!!!
Her place is very home-warm, just like a normal Singapore family's house, and is located in a residential area, very quiet and natural, you can heard different bird's songs every morning. Though there is always summer in Singapore, but the room I rent is very naturally cooling, just open the window to enjoy the natural wind of SG!
Cecilia keeps the restroom quite clean and good smell, there is refrigerator and kitchen tongues if you need(though I didn't) I will strongly recommend such a lovely place to stay if you enjoy to stay in a quiet area.

  • The room was very nice and clean with fast and free WiFi. The host was very nice and helpful. The apartment was near Eunos and Kembangan MRT. The Host, Cecilia gave us very good tips about the bus who stops in front of the apartment and also tips about good food around the apartment. I will recommend this apartment for everyone who's looking for a good place to stay in Singapore.

  • Cecilia was a really friendly and warm host. Her house was very clean and the room was spacious and bright. Sharing a toilet with the other people in the house was not a problem and the toilet was always clean. The only issue I had was that the air-conditioner was a little noisy but a pair of earplugs did the trick. I also liked the freedom of not having a curfew. Overall a great stay, thanks very much!

  • It was really a lovely stay @ Charlyn's place. The host was friendly & always pleasant, she made us feel more comfortable at her place. The location of the house is very nice, clean and convenient to locate, The host provided us with a great hospitality and felt like our own house. I would love to travel yet again when around Singapore :)

  • We had such a great time staying at Charlyn and Cecilia's place. We only met Cecilia and she was a wonderful host, inviting us out to dinner on our first night. She also provided us with great directions around the neighborhood and to town. We enjoyed staying in the location, although it takes a while longer to get into the center of town, we didn't mind. Cab fare into town is affordable. The location is also close and easy to get to/ from the airport. We recommend staying here if you are looking for a quiet, clean, local, neighborhood that is close yet far enough from the busy parts of Singapore.

  • Very nice host, very nice and clean room in a lovely neighbourhood. The apartment is conveniently located near Eunos and Kembangan MRT. Bus stops are right in front of the house.

I felt very welcome from the first minute I entered the apartment. Charlyn´s mum is a warm-hearted and lovely person who made me feel at home immediately. Besides, she has a lot of great tips and information about the city, eating out, shopping etc. I didn´t meet Charlyn herself, since she´s living in the US.

A great place where I would love to stay again when coming back to Singapore.

  • Cecilia was so kind to us.She wrote a note that how to take the bus to go to the city and gave me many tips about life in Singapore.
The room was clean and bed was big and comfortable.
We enjoyed cycling at the beach at sunset.
We will visit cecilia's place again.

Wanderlust by day and dreamer by night. If you are booking a reservation for walk-up apartment in Singapore, you will be greeted by my look-a-like, Cecilia, a.k.a Wonderwoman a.k.a my mum! She usually does the check-in while I handle the all the bookings online. 2 things that I love the most: Traveling and Music. My mum and I are avid travellers and just got back from a 90-day backpacking trip around Europe. I have travelled to more than 20 different countries and counting... I am very passionate about music and play the piano, guitar, ukulele, bass and drums. I lived in the US from 2010 - 2013, 2 years in NY for college and 1 year in Los Angeles to pursue my dreams to work in the music industry. During my time there, I was working as a Digital Marketing Manager and had some really interesting clients, some of them you may have heard on the radio. If you hate socialising, we are not the right host for you. We love making new friends and if we are available during your stay, we will show you around our hood, Joo Chiat! There is no place like the East of Singapore. We have good food everywhere and a unique Peranakan culture. Don't forget to get ask us about THE BEST PLACES TO EAT when you stay with us! A food adventure in our sunny island is a must! We look forward to hosting you in our humble abode! - The world is our playground... Never stop exploring, dreaming and discovering the world around you!
