About This Listing
Spacious room located at the heart of JOO CHIAT and KATONG!
WE HAVE 1 DOG AND HER NAME IS KOPI!
(#kopitales on Instagram and you'll see her)
Expect a very hospitable, hip and trendy host!
We love to travel and meet new travellers and if you are looking to experience the real Singapore with a 'modern' family, look no further! We are a mother and daughter duo (with our precious dog, KOPI) living in this walk-up apartment.
(NO ELEVATOR SO YOU GET TO WORK ON THOSE CALVES!)
The room that you will be staying in is a QUEEN bedroom. There are 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in our apartment. Needless to say, we provide bedding, linen and free hugs during your stay. ;P
What makes our place unique? THE HOSTS!
We promise to show you the REAL Singapore and not just the touristy stuff!
You will have access to a shared bathroom that will be used by our Airbnb Guests (1 other person). If there is a specific timing that you would need to use the bathroom, just let everyone in the house know and they will accommodate and leave it empty for you to use. We have 2 listings on Airbnb so if the other room is vacant, you will have the bathroom all to yourselves.
Interaction with Guests
Both my mum & I live in the apartment and we love to hang out with our guests whenever we can. Of course, everyone needs some alone time once in a while but if you ever feel lonely or need someone to talk to, we are always there to have a conversation!
The city, airport and beach are all a 10-minute cab ride from our apartment. We're also just a stone throw away (5-15 minutes walk) from East Coast Beach, shopping malls like Parkway Parade, I12 Katong, City Plaza and lots of really really good local food. The BEST durian stand in Singapore is located right outside our apartment! Macau's Tycoon, Stanley Ho, often sends his private jet to Singapore just to pick up the durians and have them delivered to him! A couple streets down is the acclaimed Katong Laksa, 5-star Chicken Rice, Banana Leaf Hokkien Mee, Kim Choo Peranakan Food and Beach Road Prawn Mee! You will never feel hungry when you stay here! There is just too much amazing local food around! Don't even bother watching your weight during your stay!
Kembangan and Eunos MRT are both less than 15 mins away by foot and 5 mins away by car. A cab ride there will cost you less than $4. The MRT train is the best way to commute around every part of the city. Most tourist attractions will take you 30 mins to get there by Train.
Bus stop (with Bus Number 15 and 155) is right downstairs our apartment and you can literally see it from the window! No need to wait in the scorching heat for the bus! These busses will take you to Toa Payoh, Eunos, Katong and Siglap.
There is also another bus stop with Bus Number 33 only 2 mins away from our house. Bus Number 33 will take you to Chinatown.
FROM THE AIRPORT
You can take the MRT to Kembangan station then take a cab which will cost you less than $4 to reach our home. If you are on a budget, you can take the MRT to Eunos station then take Bus 155 to our door step. The bus ride will cost you less than $1.50.

Charlyn and Cecilia were fantastic hosts! They were very inviting and happy to share their home and their food. The place is in a very residential neighborhood which made it nice and quiet but with easy access to the MRT and restaurants/bars. The pictures are accurate. The room was spacious, had a lot of light, and was clean. I would definitely recommend staying with Charlyn and Cecilia.
Cecilia and Charlyn are wonderful hosts. The room is in a nice neighborhood with public transport, stores and a park and beach close by. I had a great time staying there.
Definitely ask them for restaurant recommendations!
Listing is accurate. Neighborhood is great, with grocery stores, eateries and the East Coast Park. If you need a taxi in the morning, that might prove very very difficult.
Hey Enrico, the taxi problem during the peak hour (8am - 11am) is a country wide problem and the chances of you hailing a cab off any street is very slim as you would have to book a taxi in order to get one. Next time download apps like GrabTaxi, HailO, EasyTaxi or Uber so you don't face that problem :)
Thank you Cecilia and Charlyn for your superb hospitality. Though brief, I enjoyed my time spent at your apartment. I look forward to reconnecting with you during my return visit.
The glowing reviews were accurate: spacious room, great location, very accessible public transportation, great food nearby and most importantly great hosts.
Look no further and book your room today!
Charlyn and Cecilia are great hosts, always very friendly and ready to advise on the best places to eat and visit!
I had the most pleasant stay at their wonderful appartment, which was perfect for my first stay in Singapore. Always bright, spacious and very clean. The room is just like depicted on the webiste. Very spacious, with a very big window and a comfortable bed. The shared bathroom was also very nice and clean.
The location was great, there's a bus stop right downstairs, and 2 MRT stations within a 15 min walk.
Lots of nice places to eat in the neighbourhood, and East Coast Park is just a 10 min jogging distance away...
Cecilia was always around, very kind and generous. She made sure I had everything I needed and was even kind enough to let me try some of her cooking!
Thank you Charlyn and Cecilia for making my stay so comfortable and pleasant!
Wish you all the best!
Thanks Cecilia and Charlyn for the hospitality. It was a busy week traveling for me but it was good to have a place to stay. The room is simple but comfortable. The bed felt also very good. Cecilia is very careful to always make sure you will have everything you need. You are welcome to help yourself to some tea coffee and hot water. A bath towel is provided unlike some other places I heard. The place is conveniently located en route to the airport so if you travel a lot this can be a great place to settle as home base.
Cecilia makes you feel at home and will tell you everything you need to know about Singapore.

About the Host, Charlyn
Wanderlust by day and dreamer by night. If you are booking a reservation for the walk-up apartment in Singapore, you will be greeted by my look-a-like, Cecilia, a.k.a Wonderwoman a.k.a my mum! She usually does the check-in while I handle the all the bookings online.
My mum and I are avid travellers. I personally have travelled to more than 30 different countries and counting... I am also very passionate about music and play the piano, guitar, ukulele, bass and drums. I lived in the US from (phone number hidden) years in NY for college and 2 year in Los Angeles to pursue my dreams to work in the music industry. During my time there, I was working as a Digital Marketing Manager and had some really interesting clients, some of them you may have heard on the radio.
Now that I have moved back to Singapore, I am working and helping out in my family's supply chain business. Apart from that, I still do some social media freelancing on the side (IT'S MY PASSION!) and run my own social enterprise at the same time.
If you hate socialising, my mum and I are not the right host for you. We love making new friends and if we are available during your stay, we will show you around our hood, Joo Chiat! There is no place like the East of Singapore. We have good food everywhere and a unique Peranakan culture. Don't forget to get ask us about THE BEST PLACES TO EAT when you stay with us! A food adventure in our sunny island is a must!
We look forward to hosting you in our humble abode!
The world is our playground... Never stop exploring, dreaming and discovering the world around you!
Best indie cafe along Telok Kurau! It is my favorite hangout spot. There is WiFi and good food.
MUST TRY: Brownie Popsicle, Wasuga Wings, Iced Lemongrass Drink
There is an ATM right outside the hospital building.
Bike rentals are available here!
Been eating here for more than 20 years. Always miss having a bowl of delicious Prawn (Shrimp) Noodles whenever I am away from home! If you haven't tried this, you haven't been to Singapore!
Great place for Happy Hour! 1-4-1 beers @ $11
Probably one of THE best and well-known mexican restaurants in Singapore. A little pricey for the budget traveller but if you need Enchiladas, this is the place to go!
Laksa is one of the many favorite local Singaporean dish. Another one of the "If you haven't tried this, you haven't been to Singapore!".
This is where you can take a cab to our apartment for under $4. You can also take a 15-min walk down the canal to our apartment.
24 hour wanton noodle stall
Mee Pok (Noodles) is good. XO Fish Bee Hoon is great but the Roasted Chicken Rice is awesome and sells out by 1pm.
This is where you will take Bus 155 to our door step.
