About This Listing
Stay with a friendly, local and active couple who have been enjoying Queenstown for three plus years.
The Lake House is a cozy three bedroom home with stunning and uninterrupted Lake Wakatipu and Remarkable views. Available for rent is one bedroom with a Queen bed and wardrobe. Room is comfortable with lovely shared space upstairs.
House features a large wrap around deck and BBQ ideal for warm summer evenings. Fully furnished with kitchen and lounge upstairs to be enjoyed, and your bedroom and shared bathroom in a walk-out downstairs. House sits directly next to bush on Lake Wakatipu with trail leading down to the Frankton Trail for walking to town.
One bathroom to be shared between yourselves and myself and my partner. House is kept very tidy and my partner and I work Monday - Friday days.
Incredibly quiet and convenient location with access to Frankton walking track and lake directly in front of the house. Our house borders bush, so you feel quite secluded whereas many places in Queenstown look out over houses. You can walk or ride into town along this track beside the lake.
Bus stop is outside the house to Queenstown (5 minutes away). Can catch the bus to/from the airport.
Off street parking.
The Lake House is midway between Frankton and Queenstown. 30 minute walk to town or 5 minute drive.
Me and Mum loved our stay with Matt and Maura who are absolutely lovely and got in contact with us to help with directions and made us feel very at home when we were there. The house is ridiculously lovely, with breathtaking views - I'd have been happy in a sleeping bag on the balcony looking out onto the lake and mountains.
It's a really great place to stay, and the walk into town is lovely alongside the lake.
And Matt is an internet sensation so we practically stayed with a celebrity. Thanks for the awesome stay, guys! Gabs & Sally
Matt and Maura were fantastic hosts and their home was lovely. Everything is exactly as advertised and described in the reviews. The room is tidy and spacious with a comfortable bed and big windows. The rustic home is exactly what I want for a stay in the mountains with a large porch overlooking the lake, comfy couches and a fireplace. The location is just outside of Queenstown, perfect for a walk, jog or bike ride into town on the lakeside track directly below the house. Matt and Maura are friendly, welcoming, available and very knowledgable about Queenstown and New Zealand travel in general. They provide useful guidance in a brief welcome packet and are happy to provide more tips and recommendations if asked.
We stayed for three nights at the lake house. Maura was hosting us, caring for us and made us feel at home. The room is spacious and tidy with great lake views and comfy bed.
The place is 5 minuted drive from the town center or half an hour of walking.
We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it.
The lake view was fantastic! Matt and Maura were great hosts. They were very helpful with travel advice and restaurant tips! We loved talking to them! The room was very nice. The bed was very comfortable.
Even before we arrived at Queenstown, we felt welcomed by Matt & Maura - accurate directions, a welcome mail et al! Lovely place (hope you guys manage to keep it permanently!), great views, good privacy and over and above all, we found both Matt and Maura to be warm and genuine people. Thanks for a great stay and we'll be back to taste the beer Matt!
From the moment we stepped inside, we felt at home which was a nice break from motels and hostels. We had a cup of tea and relaxed on the deck while enjoying the beautiful view of the lake. Matt and Maura's knowledge of the area was a great help to us first time visitors - so much so we need to come back!

About the Host, Matt
Over three years ago, I arrived in Queenstown for a short working holiday - like many who come to this area of the world, I've not yet been able to leave. I'm a lover of the mountains and spend my days riding my bike, climbing mountains and paragliding off of them.
