Elena was from the beginning on very concerned about our well being, offering us food and enough to drink in the hot season. She welcomed us warmly and tried to help us with Information about everything related to Seoul. The kids are very active, so if you don't like it you better close your door at the weekends. An important things to say is, that they have no elevator so be prepared to not have heavy suitcases (like we had, hahaha)... The only thing that may be a little difficult for those of the western countriea are the bathrooms. The Shower is very simple and may jump from hot to cold sometimes.... but we were always clean xD and also the toilets: we didnt get it first that you have to put your used toilet paper in the bin... so yeah sorry Elena :/
The living room is pretty big and We enjoyed watching TV at the evenings.
Elena is mostly in her room giving you enough privacy, but always there when you need some help, dont be afraid, she speaks very good english. She and her husband dont come home very early so meeting her in the appartment is mostly only possible in the early mornings and in the kitchen XD
Well we enjoyed our stay, for us (two young women on their first frip to Seoul) it was everything we needed and more. We hope to possibly meeting her and her family one time again :) and saying a real goodbye cuz it didnt work the first time haha^^"
It was perfect for me~ I'm really happy I got to stay with Elena and her family! And I would definitely do it again. They were really kind and her two girls are sooooo cute (talk to them! They are very friendly!). I appreciate the experience of getting to stay in a real Korean home. I think this is the real way to enhance your stay in Korea. =) Also isn't the room cute? It looks exactly like that in reality!
Elena and her husband are very nice, as are the kids (ages 7 and 3). The room was great (with lots of storage space!), the house is clean and there was plenty of freedom to come and go. If you aren't a kid person, I would recommend heeding the warning--they're very high-energy and will demand a lot of attention from you, so if you aren't willing to give it, make sure to schedule weekends out or be prepared to stay in your room with the door locked. Generally it was a good experience and I'm thankful to Elena and her husband for allowing me to stay in their home!
Eleana is a great cook! I love the food she cooked! During our stay, she has prepared delicious korean dishes for us to taste. Room is reasonable for two with our luggage and shopping bags. As it is a home stay, general household items are available and several grocery and convenient stores are within walkable distance. Location is a distance away from the buzzy hongdae area, thus quiet at night, and there is much to explore around the neighbourhood. Eleana's girls are really adorable. We enjoyed their company during weekends. Overall, the stay is fun-filled and a home away from home. :)
Staying with Betty was a pleasure. She helped me any way she could - by picking me up at the station or giving me advices - and was very welcoming.
The place is really close from Hongdae station, about 10 minutes by walk, and the area is full of nice restaurants and shops. A good place to stay.
Also, her kids are so much fun to be with! One of them even speaks a bit of English so I talked with her :)
The room was clean and even though I was alone, I'm sure it would fit 2 persons without any problems. There is even a mattress with a heating pad, which is especially handy in the winter.
Maybe the only downside would be that the bathroom wasn't as clean as I would have expected for such a place, but it was nothing serious and apart from that everything was as described and I enjoyed my stay!
