Alice and Sunny are one of the nicest people we'd encountered during our trip. Picked their home cause we wanted to experience the whole traditional korean home and culture. Alice is a great cook! She shared alot of information with us on how to get around. Beautiful house, so glad she let us use the smaller room to keep our luggage! Alice and Sunny brought us out for dinner at Insadong for raw crab, it was so good! We had authentic korean home made tea at the cafe near their home, they actually paid for us! Thank yoy Alice and Sunny for being such great host! Please come to Kuala Lumpur and we will show you around and our turn to buy you dinner!
Such an amazing stay! Alice is a wonderful host!! I'm so glad we chose to stay in this Hanok! It's a great experience living in a Hanok and the neighborhood is really pretty! We even saw some celebrities filming around her house alley heh. The room is perfect, cosy and it really love it!! The host has a really cute son too! This reminds me a lot of a homestay and I really enjoyed it! Alice gave us a lot of help, cook for us, brought us out to great local places, giving us tips about the area. I'll definitely come back to stay in my next seoul trip! Thank you so much Alice!!! One of my best airbnb experiences!
Great experience through and through. Alice is a great hostess. Her family was very friendly also. She is genuinely interested in helping us out on planning the next itenary and gave us a lot of tips. We had a great time during our 4 night stay at her home. Would definitely come back.
If you are tired of hotels and want to experience normal Korean life, we definitely recommend staying with Alice, Sonny, and their adorable happy toddler, Junyeong. The room isn't big but it has everything you need, including complete privacy as it opens into the courtyard. The description says bread and milk for breakfast, but at least half of the days, Alice cooked a full Korean breakfast. It was delicious. Alice gave us tips, made calls and inquiries on our behalf, and really made an effort to make us feel welcome. We found the futon on the floor to be a little harder than we were used to, so Alice gave us extra padding. The neighborhood is a little less "New York" and a little more traditional - exactly what we wanted. Its a 10 minute walk to the subway, a 3 minute walk to the bus, a 15 minute walk to the Insa-dong neighborhood, and a 10 minute walk to the bottom of Bugaksan mountain, which we hiked up to the ancient fortress wall. We would definitely stay here again.
Alice our host is a very friendly and a beautiful person. She makes me feel at home. Her Hanok place situated right in the centre of Korean Cultural Heritage district, good cafe, bakeries, eateries old and new all in this area, a real sense of Korean tradition.
Our stay at Alice's house was really great. We really enjoy this experience in a traditional house.
Alice and her husband are such a nice couple and amazing host. We spent many hours talking with them.
Sunny is busy with his work so we stayed more with Alice. However, he always took time to speak with us when he could.
Alice really likes to discover new people and new culture, but she also likes to share hers. She is a great cooker, and she sometimes cooked us delicious korean food !!
We enjoy our time with them, and with their lovely baby. He is still young, very cute and nice :).
Our room was OK for 2 people, and sharing the bathroom was not a problem at all for us. At first it can be hard to sleep on a futon but after few days you will get use to it.
Besides, the location is really great. You are not that far away from a subway station, and if you don't like to walk you can also take a bus until the station.
Moreover, this area is nice because there are many things to visit.
Firstly you can visit Bukchon (a village of traditional house - which you leave in).
Secondly, by walk, you can go to 3 palaces (Gyeonbokgung, Changdeokgung and Changgyeonggung) and 1 shrine (Jongmyo).
Finally, near by you can find the street "Insa-dong". In this street you can buy many souvenirs.
We are really glad to have chosen their house for our first trip to South Korea, and if we come back in Seoul we hope to stay again at their place !!!
