The space

Romantic hide-away for one or two. Unique charming cross between Ewok village, high tech Shire and Olympian Eyre: suitable for the eco tourist, road weary business traveler, honeymooners, bird watchers, tree huggers, athletically /aesthetically inclined artist nerd, exotic dignitaries, celebrity monks, training retreater wanting to experience nature by visit/living an experiment in social future building. Ultimate quiet and privacy with separate entrance and house privileges, kitchen, laundry, hot tub, hiking/bike trails, ample outdoor parking. WIFI, work on-site office facilities and many unusual options. The room is light filled all day with sumptuous down comforters and natural fiber linens to snuggle in for a long winter's nap. The 100+-year-old Heidi house craftsman style local redwood construction is warmed by old-fashioned fireplace of the same vintage, letting your imagination time travel to the age of dirt main streets when the Gravity train passed not far from our access trails. History buffs, globetrotters, poets, mycologists, physicists, jam with the achieved musicians and entertainers who frequent this house. The environs of the quaint southern Marin community offers many of the traditional seasonal artsy/athletic events: Mill Valley Film Festival, the famous Dipsea Race, ascending and descending the adjacent ridge, the esteemed annual Old Mill Park Fall Arts Fair, the birth place of mountain biking utilizing the abundance of hiking/biking trails - linking the Bay fronting the Portofino like Sausalito, to the majestic white sanded coast of the Pacific. Enthusiastic wind surfers and hang gliders dot the horizon. Jack Kerouac authored Dharma Bums and The Scripture of the Golden Eternity, near the trailhead outside our Canyon entrance. Access by trail to the property or ascend meandering stairs suggests minimum baggage maximum health. Smoking cigarettes is an unwelcome hazard on the mountain; the parking lot below allows. To fully enjoy the opportunity of being in this piece of paradise, 16 minutes from the Golden Gate Toll Plaza, be prepared to energetically relax. Enjoy organic gardens, honey from our happy bees, chlorine and fluoride free water, and take deep breaths of pollution free air. The makings are all here for your pleasure and appreciation. Seeing is believing. You will prefer a vehicle to get to the main road, if you don’t want to walk a mile and a half to Miller Ave., main street in Mill Valley, for public transportation. Inevitably you will want to stay longer than you have booked. Happy trails.

To stay in Faustin's Mill Valley home is an experience that I loved. I wanted to be actually in the Redwood trees and her home is on one of the few hillsides where there are still redwoods. The climb up the stairs is worth it. I felt so cared for by Faustin. She is a truly loving person. Thank- You!

Great retreat house and room located in the redwoods of Mill valley. Recommended if you're looking for a peaceful place far from the city stress.

Several things get in the way of giving this place a perfect rating like other past guests. The space in the bedroom is cozy, charming and eclectic. That said, it's also quite musty and tough for allergies. The living room, hallway room (?) and kitchen are JAM-PACKED with 3 billion things - it's almost not calming because of all the stuff. Much of it is fascinating: books, instruments, etc., but its hoarder-level existence made it clear we were in someone else's space. The owner was out of town, so Zach, a roommate, greeted us. Upon arrival, we were led up the steps and shown the cool "tram" to put our luggage on during our climb up. The climb wasn't easy to do in the dark, and Zach's flashlight wasn't quite enough to show us where to go safely. Maybe offer flashlights/headlamps at the bottom to guests coming late? (We arrived at 10:15pm). We weren't given a key, which didn't seem weird at first (bc we seemed too far up for any intruder to bother), and were told that the only other soul in the treehouse would be another Airbnb woman staying in the room below the kitchen. However, when my friend awoke in the middle of the night, she found two guys sleeping on the floor and couch in the living room. The second night we stayed, at least one of the guys who stayed was a new person. We not only didn't know there would be other people there, but felt less safe and calm, as two female travelers. Upon waking up Saturday morning, we were greeted by the sounds of drilling into the ground less than 10 feet from our glass door (which had no curtains or blinds). They worked for hours. The second morning we found ourselves with no running water for hours, and poor Zach didn't know what to do. While the room was nice, the bedding cushy, and the belongings interesting, the overall experience could have been easily improved with more communication and safer practices.

Cool place. LOTS of stairs. Privacy was nice. Faustin was very nice and accommodating. A huge limb fell on the house when I checked in so there was no power for a while and I had no internet all weekend. Not really her fault and I didnt care that much. I'd stay there again!

Not for the faint of heart! Its a beautiful site but there are many stairs to climb to get to the room in the tree tops

Wow! Faustin's home is a treasure tucked away in a beautiful forest retreat setting. Faustin is a delightful and generous host, and communication was no problem. Highly recommended. It does have a very distinct character. The style is eclectic and cluttered: think Merlin's tower in Disney's "Sword in the Stone" or something. I found it charming, but you should know what to expect. It also has a *lot* of stairs, some quite steep. The property easily connects by trail to Dipsea and the many other trails in Muir Woods. I set out one morning and hiked from her doorway to Stinson Beach and was there by lunch (though I hike fairly fast). You could easily spend several enjoyable days exploring the trails in the area.

Faustin's home was a fantastic adventure of a place to stay. Truly a unique spot, you won't find much else like it. Faustin herself is a true delight and gift to be around.

I was born in New York, welcomed by many older siblings who have since moved to locations all over the US. I have traveled extensively and I am grateful for the abundance of opportunities available to me. I have a media company focused primarily on optimizing the well being of all life through sharing knowledge, connection and the experience of living as naturally as I can in a suburban rain forest so close to San Francisco. Truth, beauty and seeking the light guides my decisions while paying the bills and getting along with the neighbors. I hope to offer a unique and fun ecco tourist experience to the AirBnB members coming to the Tree House.
