About This Listing
Casa de Barra is an ideal place for couples, a small family or good friends willing to share a simple nurturing life in touch with nature.
Take a two minute walk to the beach, the small waves and the water are so clear that you may see the fish in their own element, paddle the lagoon and come back to a refreshing dip in your swimming pool.
Live both indoor and outdoor with a large terrace leading into one spacious room divided into living spaces. The bedroom is on one side of the living room and the dining room and kitchen is on the other.
Enjoy the life of a magical Mexican village framed by a pristine beach, a lagoon and a coconut grove living in a white house with simplicity and elegance.
There is a housekeeper who will come as often as you like to clean the house, wash dishes, towels and clothing. In appreciation, please give her modest cleaning fee each time she comes.
The caretaker can pick up from the airport and bring you to the house for a small fee or you can get a taxi.
Located in the fishing village Barra de Potosi, Casa de Barra is 20 mins from Ixtapa/Zihuantanejo airport.
Barra De Potossi was exactly what my husband and I needed to break away from the norm and simply relax and unwind. We spent most mornings and evenings outside on the porch enjoying our surroundings. Although we took advantage of the beach, the pool was lovely to dip are feet in and cool off. Sande’s home was very welcoming and had everything we needed during our stay. The recommendations she provided were helpful and the people who lived nearby were also very helpful. I was a little bummed that the mangos hadn’t come in but there’s still plenty of fruit to consume. We had papaya every morning and the avocados were especially creamy. The local restaurants were delicious and I miss the salsa. Barra De Potossi is not touristy at all and that’s what we enjoyed most about our stay there. If we desired the city, we would hop into a cab and head over to Zihuatanejo which is a 15-20 min cab ride. As mentioned before, a great get-away spot!
Sandy's Place was really nice. Exactly as in the photos. Laura around the corner was particularly helpful. She helped us set up a beautiful snorkeling tour and kayak trip around the lagoon. Raul and his wife were wonderful as well. They met us at the airport and took us back the scenic route. Barra de Potosi was a wonderful village full of nice people. If you want to get away from places that cater to tourists and see a small slice of rural Mexico I would definitely recommend Barra de Potosi. Although we did not have a view of the ocean, the beach was just around the corner and easy to access. Sande was very flexible, easy to communicate with and accommodating. The biggest drawbacks were lack of internet. Laura had a stick that she was kind enough to let us borrow but the connection was spotty at best even when we went down to the beach. That cost me a couple days work (oh well, looks like more relaxation) and Sabrina was unable to skype with her daughter to make sure all was going well. Would I go back to Barra de Potosi? Heck yes! but next time I'll either need to schedule my trip to be away from work or find a better connection (if it exists).
About the Host, Sande
I am a filmmaker who fell in love with Barra de Potosi and this house one Christmas vacation in 2006. Now I travel around the world filming Master Zhi Gang Sha, a doctor of Chinese Medicine and spiritual teacher and healer. I would love to have others share this beautiful and romantic home and enjoy it as much as I do.
