This pretty cottage is everything you could want for a relaxing break in friendly Co Wexford. An ideal base for touring the Sunny South East.
Kirby's is a traditional Irish stone-built cottage set in green, tree-lined pastures in the South East of Ireland. It is one of three cottages in the grounds of 300 year old Fruit Hill House where Susan and Richard live with their family, and are on hand to help and advise about things to do and see in the area. Wexford, Waterford and Kilkenny are all within easy driving distance, as are the 14 sandy and unspoiled beaches of the Hook peninsula. The cottage is bright and airy, fully equipped to a high standard, and decorated with stylish simplicity.
Accommodation consists of one double bedroom with a 5 ft king size bed, and a pretty twin room; shower room; kitchen/living room.
Wifi signal available from the greenhouse. Electric storgage heaters, an open fire and well-stocked book shelves together with tv and dvd make for cosy evenings at any time of year.
Nearby is the award-winning restaurant, Aldridge Lodge, and there are shops and pubs a couple of miles away in Campile village. Nearest town is New Ross with its historic ship, the Dunbrody, the Ros tapestry, and from 2013 a fantastic new public swimming pool.
JF Kennedy Arboretum is a lovely park for a stroll with magnificent trees and views, and the Hook Lighthouse, Europe's oldest, is well worth a visit.
This is a welcoming place to stay, and a friendly and interesting part of the world to explore.
Please note that prices quoted per week/month are for the low season. Rates vary, but are always competitive. Please ask for a quote and see.
Guests are free to wander through the grounds, bearing in mind that it is a working farm, and children should be accompanied by an adult.

The owners are present on site - a short walk through the garden.
Wexford has got to be the friendliest County in Ireland.
Public transport is of very little use. Fruit Hill, while not remote, is off the beaten track.
Basic good manners will cover the house rules, but we're not keen on smoking in the house.
We came when it was already dark and we couldn't find Susan's house. But I wasn't worry about that because I had seen in the commentarys of the others that Susan is very friendly and comes fetching her lost sheep :)
She fetched us and we had also a warm fire and some nice scones in our house. It was good that we had everything we needed in the house: Tea, washing and cleaning products, toilet paper, towels, the beds were ready to sleep in and the biggest point for the kids was that there were toys (2 big fire cars, books, puzzles, films,...) :)
The house was nice with little lovely things. There is a lot of green around - no stress :)
There are some nice things to visit around: The beach, the hook lighthouse, Waterford, secret valley (farm for children),...
We had some nice days!!!
(Some further bullet points from Manuel, Stephie's husband):
• Susan and her husband are super nice and welcoming
• Susan showed us the cottage/the rooms and has a short page explaining the basic stuff
• The cottage is only 10km away from the beach (in Duncanon) and the little ferry that crosses the Bay (Arthurstown/Ballyhack)
• Susan had us go to her house, with a very welcoming Kitchen, where we had tea/coffee and they gave us a few tips of things to visit, like the Hook Lighthouse
• There are toys for kids in the cottage and outside as well, which was awesome for our kids! Not to mention green everywhere around!
• It's (we think) super safe to let the kids play outside alone, since there are no roads around!
• The necessary (toilet paper, dish washing liquid) is in the house, no need to buy it.
• Plenty of books and DVDs ensure all evenings will be good.
• Two power adapter from Irish to European were in the house — very convenient since many of us (...) might have forgotten that "detail"
Thank you, Susan!

It has been a real retreat from our stressful day to day work staying at Susan's and Dick's beautiful cottage!!! The hosts are unbelievable friendly and were always there for us whenever needed. The cottage was lovely decorated and well equipped. There was even an open fireplace which guaranteed cosy evenings. When we arrived we received a warm-hearted welcome goodie: home-made scones with butter and marmelade, an absolutely Yummie!!! We were even allowed to walk through Susan's "fairytale garden" and around the whole property. We felt very welcome and in good hands and were surprised about Dick's talent to rebuild old heritage Irish "buildinings" as he himself restaurated the beautiful old cottages (there were three on the large property) with his own hands. Mocha the cat visited us only once but is so cute and lovely either!!! The locals were so friendly and there is not even one "Minus" during our stay. If your are looking for a romantic breakout this is the place to rent! We definately will recommand this place to our friends and colleagues and for sure come back. A huge Thank You to the lovely and warm-hearted hosts!!!
We had a great stay in this beautiful old cottage. It has a very nice atmosphere. From the living room you can overlook the fields. It is a very nice place to stay. Susan is a very good host and she makes delicious scones ;). She makes us feel very welcome. When we go to Ireland again, we will certainly stay at this place.
Susan and her husband and son made us feel very welcome. They were warm and we really enjoyed their company and assistance. The listing was very accurate with respect to the cottage. It was a quiet setting, with beautiful country side.
Really lovely cottage in a peaceful spot. A part of Ireland definitely worth visiting and a host who can help you find the best places to see. Really enjoyed our stay.

I live in a big old house which was a ruin when we moved here in 1995 - with trees growing in it. We have a family of six, mostly teenagers, so we can cope with just about anything. It is lovely to share this place with people, and we have enjoyed meeting visitors from all over the world in our 12 years in the accommodation business. I look forward to meeting you. Susan
