Lex was very nice and helpful however, his apartment is not what I expected. The counters and bathroom were relatively clean, but the floors definitely were not. The noise from the window was astoundingly loud (as if the window were open) and the trucks, cars, horse carriages etc. were constant. The bed was not comfortable at all either, so between the bed and the noise it was difficult to sleep. Also, there were only two thin pillows and old pilled sheets on the bed which didn’t help matters. The shower had a terrible showerhead that made washing my hair an almost impossible task. The hardest part was that he had none of the comforts that most airbnbs offer, such as coffee/tea, some small breakfast items, and water. As an airbnb host with plenty of friends who are as well, we ALWAYS have these items available for the guests. On the upside, the location is great and the building is okay and there was plenty (lots) of heat, unlike many NY apartments.
I was very shocked and surprised to read Laura's review! I never had any guest before her who had complained about all that she said and I am hosting on AIRBNB since almost 2 years. And I was even shocked that she had all these complaints since I did call her on the second day of her stay to ask if everything was ok and she without hesitation answered that: ' ALL IS FINE".
The apartment is located in the heart of New York and of course in rush hour there are some traffic in the streets.
For the other comments that she post about the sheets, pillows and shower head I won't even bother with these since there was any guest in the past who had complained about these but on the contrary my guests always liked everything about the apartment and I always have good reviews!
I was also surprised when she said that as WE Airbnb hosts always provide some items like breakfasts, snacks or water. As an AIRBNB host herself she perfectly knows that these are not mandatory for an host to provide but, of course as an host I DO PROVIDE these for foreign people coming over.
The stay here was great! If you are looking for your own private place in a great location for a good price, this is your best bet. Loved being able to walk down to Broadway and Times Square easily. Never felt unsafe walking home or walking around the neighborhood. Street noise is a little loud for those not used to it but hey, it's New York City. Book this place is you are looking for somewhere to rest your feet after lots of walking, enjoy some TV while you do it, connect to the internet, make some breakfast, or pass out after a night out. Lex was reliable and great host. Definitely worth money we paid. Thanks again!
Alex's place was clean and nice and had all the amenities we needed. I really appreciated the fast WiFi and great TV channel selections. I would recommend his place to anyone who's visiting the New York City area. The location was close to many great restaurants.
Alex fue muy amable. el departamento es tal cual se ve en las fotos. esta a seis cuadras del central park y del subte. muy buena ubicacion
Overall great stay. Lex was friendly, let me check in a bit early, and was available to call if I needed anything. No frills to the apartment but it definitely had everything I needed and everything worked. Location was great, and the neighborhood felt safe. Had to walk a bit to get to the right subway, but its NYC so you're walking anyways. Try the subs in the deli below, they were cheap and great!
Great location, and the apartment was nice and clean.
The sofa was comfortable for me (6'3" guy), but it would be a very tight fit for two people. My two friends enjoyed the queen bed.
Check-in was a bit late (4 PM) but this wasn't a problem for us as we were stuck in Bronx traffic anyway.
Also, paying the cleaning fee ($50) in cash was a little bit awkward, it would have been nicer if I could pay this over Airbnb.
The apartment was very comfortable and in a fantastic location. Host was very accommodating about a last-minute addition of my daughter, and check in and check out times.
The good: the apartment was clean and well-located. The bad: Alex wasn't present for the check in. We had some travel problems and had to arrive late, and Alex's partner, Sebastien, was quite rude and put out that we were delaying check in. He was overall not friendly or polite, and I apologized several times for the delay, but my apologies were never acknowledged, let alone accepted. The phone numbers we were given ahead of time were disconnected, and every time we heard from our hosts, it was from different phone numbers.
Overall, just a pretty unpleasant and shady experience. Would not recommend.
My husband and I were very impressed with this spacious studio apartment. It was central to good restaurants, bars and Times Square. We walked everywhere from Lex's place. We met Lex at the set time to hand over keys. He was very reliable with all prior contact and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The apartment was clean, had all necessities including use of a landline which we were invited to use to make local calls. I would definitely come back and stay at Lex's apartment on my return to New York and recommend this place to other single travellers / couples.
