About this listing
Cosy little flat, very near to the Canal Saint Martin and only about 7 minutes walk from République (transport hub). Fully equipped, it is a comfortable option for a 1 or 2 guests (sharing a bed) visiting Paris. Lots of trendy restaurants right around the corner.
Cute little flat in old parisian building. If you are looking for comfort, cosiness and practicality, my flat is a good choice. If you are looking for Parisian views, this is not for you. Unfortunately my neighbours aren't always very respectful in keeping the building clean, and the entrance to the main building can be a bit off-putting.
Quiet and peaceful, since it is in the inner courtyard, and easily accessible (first door up flight of stairs)
It is a small flat but it was built thinking it was big. So you have all the Parisian charm (fireplaces, moldings, etc) condensed in 25m. You have a living room, separate double room, kitchen and a tiny functional bathroom. Ideal for a couple.
Fully equipped with all you need for a comfortable stay in Paris (see lists at the end of description)
The building has been half refurbished and the end of the refurbishing is in stand by at the moment.
The flat is located just a 5 minute walk from Canal St.Martin, plenty of trendy restaurants just around the corner! At 4 minutes to Goncourt Metro Station (just 5 stops to city center - Pompidou Museum, etc) and 8 minutes walk to the transport hub in République (4 metro lines). So, all in all a great location.
4 minutes walk from Metro Goncourt (line 11)
8 minutes walk from Metro République (lines 5, 8, 9 and 11)
From Airports by train, get off at Gare du Nord. Switch to Line 5 (get off at République) or take a taxi (about 5 minutes ride, it shoudl cost around 10 euros)
Bus number 75 takes you straight to City Center.

Interaction with Guests
If I'm around I welcome guests to the flat, show them around, tell them about the area and tips about restaurants and transport. I make myself available during their stay, via phone or email for any question concerning their stay. If I'm not in town for arrival, I send either my boyfriend or a good friend to meet them.
The area is in full gentrification. Very near to the Canal Saint Martin, a meeting point for young people. When the weather is nice, you will find it full of people sitting next to it drinking wine and eating cheese. There are plenty of restaurants, cafés, bars, supermarkets, just around the corner from the flat. My street however is very calm and well lit up at night. It is also reasonably close to the city center, you can stroll through the marais and get to Hotel de Ville in about 35 -45 minutes.
You will find a guide that I have made in the flat, with all my favorite addresses in the area.
You have a metro station just up the road (line 11) that gets you straight to city center in just 3-4 stops (about 5 min to Hotel de Ville) You can also walk to République (around 5-7 min) where you have 5 different metro lines (lines 3,5,8,9,11) buses, etc.You also have Vélib (public bicycle rental) stations very close by.
Other Things to Note
The flat is very compact, so I can be surprisingly small for people not used to Parisian flats, specially the bathroom, which is very small, but the shower is surprisingly comfortable too :)
Leave it the way you found it :) Clean and tidy.
Try and keep the door to the bathroom open while out of the flat (specially after showering) and remember to take the rubbish down at the end of your stay. There is a trash can, just downstairs in the inner patio.
From Oct 16 - 19, 2015 the minimum stay is 3 nights.
Emma was easy to correspond with and and answered our questions immediately, before and during our trip. She was there to greet us when we arrived. The flat was nice and clean and was just the right size for the two of us. The location was great - walking distance to the Metro, grocery stores and restaurants, which we loved. We found that living in Paris means living in close quarters. The flat's windows open into a small courtyard, which meant that conversations and musical preferences were shared by all, sometimes late into the night. This may not be an issue when the weather is cooler and the windows can be closed at night. All in all a very positive experience. Thank-you, Emma!
The flat was cute and small (big enough for two people though) and nice and cool despite the hot weather. The location is excellent: close to the canal, underground and many lively restaurants and bars, and there are night buses arriving at République. Emma gave us tips about the neighbourhood and the communication was good. Neighbours can be a bit noisy at times, but all in all a great experience!
Emma and her friend Tristan could not have been more helpful in getting us set up in the apartment, giving us good tips in advance, getting us smoothly in, and getting back to us immediately when we had a problem with the street door. (Pull on what looks like the door frame!)
The place is very small--smaller than I ha thought from the photo--but the bedroom and sitting room with tiny kitchen and bathroom worked for us for a few days. Everything clean, the bed is very comfortable and WiFi is reliable.
We very much enjoyed the neighborhood which is not much touristed and felt like "real" Paris even in July. Definitely take Tristan's advice and walk over to the quay, where you can sit with your own bottle of wine or drink and dine in one of the little joints there. A very cool area.
Given that those living across the small courtyard were very close to us, I was worried that the nights would be noisy, but by 11 p.m. everybody had quieted down. All in all a very pleasant stay.
My girlfriend and I stayed at Emma's apartment in July it was great. Emma gave us awesome booklet with grocery stores, markets, bars, cafes and restaurants of the area which we used on a daily basis.
The description of the flat is correct, clean, and it has all the things you need.
The location is perfect for getting the metro with two stations only 5 minutes walk.
We recommend this place if your looking for a flat in Paris.
Lovely in every way. Perfect for our 3 day stop-over in Paris. All the necessities plus a few little extra things you would want. Emma was a great host. Would recommend to anyone.
A perfect little apartment to have as a home base to explore Paris. The apartment is in a charming neighborhood with tons of great cafe's, wine shops, and restaurants within walking distance. Emma is easy to communicate with and a great person to talk with and get the low down on where to eat and drink in the neighborhood. I highly recommend this place.
