Amazing sunlight-filled house in South Austin. Two bedrooms with queen-sized beds, an office, a yoga room, an incredible sun room, and a beautiful backyard. This house just feels good - the natural light inside and the great patio and chiminea in the backyard make it a great retreat. Wireless internet, and AppleTV, but no actual cable here. We're big on records and vintage record players and you'll find a pretty extensive collection of vinyl here that you're welcome to listen to. You're just a few minutes away from the shops on South Congress, and a 10-15 minute drive from downtown. Parking here is easy, two cars fit in the driveway and street parking is totally safe here, too. If you have more than four people staying, we have two sofabeds in addition to the proper beds to accommodate more guests.
There's a washer/dryer you're welcome to use. And we're a family friendly house, so feel free to bring the kids!
No smoking in the house, please. If you have any questions, just call!
Charlie's home is warm and welcoming nestled in a family-friendly neighborhood. There are restaurants, grocery stores (Sprouts is a must), and service stations nearby. Prior to my trip to Austin, Charlie took time to recommend music venues/musicians. She was right-on! My next visit will be at Charlie's place because nothing can beat a "home away from home."
This was my first Airbnb experience. I stayed here with my husband, our two-year-old and my sister. We loved it! Charlie made us feel right at home with a friendly note and was very easy to contact. She even gave us great recommendations for food, music and grocery locales. The house was just as described. The neighborhood was quiet and an easy drive to everywhere we wanted to go. I'd definitely recommend Charlie's house. It's a beautiful space full of character. We would stay here again.
The house is comfortable, quiet and the beds comfortable. However the house lacked many necessities I would have expected.
There was only a single roll of toilet paper in the house, so right after arriving had to walk a mile to the grocery store to purchase some. There was no dish soap, dishwasher detergent nor sponge to wash dishes. The listing said shampoo provided, so I assume the nearly empty bottle of shampoo and 1/2 used bar of soap in the shower was meant for guests?
I had the feeling that the owner did not have the time to properly prep the house for renting and left in a bit of a hurry.
I'm so sorry about that! I was out of town this past month and had a cleaner coming and a friend prepping the house between guests... but I guess she didn't think of those things. I'll speak to her today. Again, so sorry! I promise to make sure that won't happen again.
It’s an adorable, cozy little place, as you walk into the house; it’s rather roomy and has an openness as you can glance across the way thru the large windows in the rear of the house where you can see all the way through to the back yard.
Nostalgic and reminiscent as you see the old turntable with shelves of albums sitting above, the piano placed to the side in the back room and a display of an old typewriter.
There were three bedrooms and which was perfect for accommodating our group size. Overall, it was ideal and very relaxing while spending quality time with family.
Pros: Bright, nice sofa, great wifi, good AC, Charlie is very accommodating, convenient location & close to shopping, spacious living area for spending time together. Ideal for family quality time vs a hotel.
Cons: No cable, insufficient amount of plates/bowls for our group (5), no dish sponge for washing dishes, not enough toilet paper, bathrooms garbage full upon arrival (not cleaned previously), toilet sluggish in master bedroom (but may have been due to the excessive rain storms in the Austin area).
Thanks for being such a great guest! I apologize for the lack of toilet paper, dish soap, and sponges... I was away this past month and had a friend looking after the house for me - and I guess she didn't think of those things. I'll make sure it doesn't happen again!
I had a great experience staying at Charlie's house! Everything was clean and tidy, and the house/neighborhood is exactly as it appears online. Great location--nice and quiet area. Highly recommended!
I absolutely loved my stay at Charlie's and this is my second time here. It's a lot more spacious than described and this house is my number one choice when staying in Austin because of the location and the atmosphere. One thing that made me feel really welcome here was seeing the thank-you cards sprinkled around the house by other guests and it's really just a cozy feel overall. The listing description and photos do not do the house justice on what my experience actually was and it was perfect for my group for both stays because there were musical instruments around as well as a GREAT space to play board games (yes yes, we came all the way to Austin to play board games.. hehe). The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful and I actually really like the backyard which had a tranquil and rustic feel to it.
In summary, Charlie is a great and easy host, the house is beautiful and spacious, and the distance is perfect to downtown Austin since we only had to drive 10 minutes to the hotspots and never had to deal with traffic. I recommend this location to all my friends who are looking for a place to stay in Austin. THANKS AGAIN, CHARLIE!!
Charlie Faye made us feel very welcome. She made her house and her music available. She even gave us two of her CD's as a welcoming present. She is a fantastic artist. Her LP collection brought back many memories.
The Airbnb description of the house was very accurate.
The neighborhood was very pleasant. Her driveway was huge. It could have fit 4 cars. There was also plenty of room to park on the street. The house was private and the neighbors were not a problem.
The backyard was large and private.
My family enjoyed the house, Austin, and the people of Texas. Everyone was extremely friendly. We will be back.
