Some of our guests comments:
"Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday! The house was gorgeous and had everything we could wish for: beautiful views, heaps of space, great pool, veggie garden, close to town. All of the beds were so comfortable with feather doonas and pillows and the kitchen had everything we needed in it. We would definitely stay here again. Our hostess was extremely accommodating and the town is one of the best in Australia."
"Absolutely wonderful place to stay. Loads of space, incredible, peaceful views particularly outstanding from the master bedroom. The swimming pool, lounging area and outdoor shower made relaxing here easy and the kids loved it. The well equipped kitchen, cosy lounge and fireplace and plenty of places to relax helped make our family gathering a great success."

The house was exactly like the images - beautiful views and very spacious. We were only a 3 min drive away from town centre and 15-20 min away from Splendour in the grass.
Joanne was a great host and left really clear instructions for the house. She even came to visit us while we were working at Splendour.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to others.
We stayed at Mullumbimby Heights for a relaxing winter weekend with family and friends. It is only a 15 min walk into town for coffee and the Saturday market, a great house to stay with everything you need and the fireplace was lovely in the evening. Would definitely recommend it and we would certainly stay there again.
Couldn't be happier with our stay at Mullumbimby heights. We found the property fairly late on Friday, and it was free for the weekend. We got hold of Joanne and she had the property ready for checkin Sat.
Amazing fireplace and master bedroom which opens out to bliss. Great location for day trips to climb Mt Warning, Byron Bay and Minyon Falls.
Perfect weekend away.
The reservation was canceled 30 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The house was in a beautiful setting and very spacious, great for 3 couples. Unfortunately there wasn't any additional heating in any of the rooms (apart from fire place in the lounge room) which made it very cold in middle of winter at night times. There also was a problem with hot water and pressure in the loft room (even though the hot water booster was on for a whole day before using water).
Unfortunately we also weren't told about the $1000 security deposit until a couple of days before we were due to stay. The money was deposited back to us on the day of departure which was good.
The house could have done with a good clean.
All in all we had a good stay here and was beautiful to wake up to the views offered by the house.
It's unfortunate to such a review but also useful. This is the first time we have had a compliant about not having heaters. When we lived at the house we always enjoyed the fire and wore extra clothes as necessary. We provide plenty of extra doonas and blankets and firewood. However, I have since this review I have brought heaters tot he house. As for the water pressure, that is an unfortunate thing that our shire doesn't provide better water pressure to our neighbourhood. In response to the security bond, it is stated on our site in the location that airbnb provides for that item. And lastly in terms of the cleanliness of the house, it is professionally cleaned and with that point I disagree.
Joanne's place was beautifully located and a great size for a group of eight friends, giving us each our own space, but plenty of areas to spend time together.
We had chosen Joanne's for a long weekend of cooking and eating, and were appreciative of the local markets and the beautiful gardens filled with citrus and herbs. Sadly, however, the oven wasn't working and to use the BBQ as an alternative we had to supply our own gas.
The only other hitch to the weekend was being asked to supply a $1000 bond on arrival, which was returned on inspection after departure.
Joanne was pleasant to deal with, however, even kindly posting back some forgotten items.
We were alerted by Beck that the oven was not coming up to temperature full temperature, and have since replaced with a brand new oven. As for the barbecue not having gas, we do supply that and normally there is a spare bottle which we had at another location but it is back in its place now. I wish Beck had let us know as we were only a few minutes away and would have brought it over right away. We really want our guests to enjoy their holidays and do try to keep everything running well. Sorry Beck that you and your friends had the weekend when the oven broke down and the large gas bottle for the barbecue had run out.
WOW- what a beautiful weekend we had at Joanne's house! It was equipped with EVERYTHING we needed and it was so spacious. The loungeroom was such a great place to relax and sit by the fire. Joanne was easy to communicate with and very accommodating and welcoming. We will most certainly come back next time we need somewhere to have a girls retreat weekend. Thanks Joanne! :)
PS- the gardens and views are beautiful :)

About the Host, Joanne
I'm from New York City but have lived in the Byron Shire for 24 years. I live with my partner Jeff Dawson who is the photographer for our wonderful local news paper The Echo and has lived in the area for 30 years, together we hold a wealth of local information. I have been a yoga teacher, a market gardener, and work on the production team of local festivals. We love to travel, garden, surf, spend time in our beautiful home and cook using herbs and vegetables from the garden.
We also love to attend the many festivals and cultural events in the area.
