The Space

Dear Peer-to-peer guest! Welcome to your London home! I update my calender every day. You can book the flat and then if it is on the same day call my mobile to tell me when you would like to arrive. Normal check in is 8pm. If your booking is not the same day, then just send me a message after you have booked what time you would like to arrive. A cleaner will prepare the flat for you. Please let me know after you have arrived what else you would like to have cleaned or repaired and a cleaner and/or handyman will come the next day or sometimes the day after to give a second specific cleaning or repair.

This listing is for an entire flat. I also rent out rooms or shared room is in another flat near by which some reviews refer to. The Modern Shoreditch Broadway Market Flat has one double bedroom and small bedroom and living open plan kitchen with balcony with view to Broadway Market. The flat is in Shoreditch by Goldsmith Row, close to the Hackney City Farm and Columbia Road, where every Sunday is a flower market. Saturdays is a farmers market on Broadway Market. Love love love this location by Regents Canal, where are house boats with a book shop on it or a cafe on the canal boat or a hat shop on a boat. Just wonderful : ) and peaceful.
The flat has wireless broadband as internet connection.
The double bedroom has a normal double bed and double futon bed. The small bedroom has a single bed and a double loft bed. A single mattres can be added into the open plan kitchen. In the open plan kitchen is also a double sofa bed and a single sofa bed. The flat has an iron board and iron and a wash dryer. Every person will get a big fresh white towel and fresh white linen on the beds.
From the lounge sofa you have an amazing view over the idyllic Broadway Market with the huge window front and the transparent balcony. There is also a wooden bench on the balcony to sit. The flat has high ceilings which are left in bare grey concrete style by the architect of the building. The building has a lift. You can park outside the building for which I can give you parking vouchers. The check in time is 8pm or different if you communicate with me before and check out is 12pm.
It's a bit like a bachelor pad, but has space to sleep a group of friends on a city trip to London, a band for the summer festival time or a family over the Christmas holiday, I can add on request a TV set, but there is also a projector + DVD player in the flat which you can connect to your laptop to watch stuff. Despite there are lots of bars and pubs and cafes around it's not a noisy area with drunk people shouting on the street what you can often get in Shoreditch. It's more an area with organic shops and lots of book stores. There are 3 Barcalys rental bicycle stations around the flat. Also the bus 55 can bring you 24 hours to Soho and back. This is my absolute favorite flat to stay.

  • The apartment of Susanne was realy nice and in the perfect neighbourhood for us. We stayed five nights there. The flat has everything you need. Also bus and tube is quite near.

  • The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • Great location next to Broadway Market/London Fields. Beds a bit dodgy as they are all futons, but we were still able to get a good night's sleep! I would go back.

  • We (a 4 persons group) spent one week at the Pritchards Road flat which proved to be a very good location with pretty good links to public transportation. The flat is all right for 4 persons and full of light. Susanne was helpful providing us two keys.

On the downside it is extremely basic, not even a tea pot or a coffee machine. Further the flat required quite a bit of cleaning from our side. So we started our London stay cleaning the dishes and then had to go out to get some toilet paper, since there was not any. The palm over the bed was so dusty that we preferred to sleep on the mattress on the floor... The drawers were dusty and showed hairs which did not invite us to unpack our luggage. From the smell of cat urine we concluded that there was some cat being in the residence. I was afraid that my companion could develop some kind of allergic reaction to car hair, which she fortunately did not. I wrote Susanne about these things and recommended her to check the cleaning performance (carried out by someone else) however she did not reply.
As a non-Londoner I can not say weather 1070 €/week can be called fairly priced personally I would have expected some more cleanliness for that price.
I hope these comments help turning things better.

  • Lovely place in a great area! In the street there are few bars and restaurants. Every Saturday there is a beautiful market in the street with great vibes. The host is great and very convenient to communicate with. I had a great time!

  • We (a couple and a teenager girl) had a very pleasant vacation stay at Susanne's. The flat is quite convenient with two independant bedrooms and a equipped kitchen in the living : clean, quite a lot of day light, large open view, modern and quiet. It has been a very nice and pleasant surprise to discover the new and lively district of Shoreditch with boutiques, pubs, restaurants and all kinds of shops right there across the Regent Canal and close to London Fields park. Buses and tube to Central London are quick and convenient. Free WiFi is great !

  • Amazing apartment with the best location in London. Broadway Market, Regents Canal and only a few station from shoreditch. Art thrives here. Great accommodations in the apartment and if you get to stay with Sue you will not regret it.
Sue went above and beyond to see if we are comfortable.
Thank only bad thing is I wish I could spend more time in the flat and get to know Sue better. As a world traveller and have been in the best hotels in the world with the best rooms there is no comparisons. Money cannot but this beautiful experience and better art than Tate on the streets excluding Monet (claude).
I WILL VIST AGAIN SOON AND HOPEFULLY BUY THE FLAT NEXT DOOR!!!

    thank you for all !

About
4 years ago I went on a business trip to San Francisco for my first start up. I did not want to stay in a hotel. More in a home and make local friends. I did that the year before in San Francisco via looking for a place to stay on Craig’s list. This time I saw the link to Airbnb twice on Craig’s list and then thought that that was far better than Craig’s list because you do no need to go for a viewing. My host was amazing the place was amazing. My host took me to a night club where I met her friends and another new arriving guest from her, who also was from London. Back home in London I already had guest from Gumtree at my flat while I was away and in the empty bedrooms which I had reserved for foster children once I get approved as a foster carer. One of those guests had a couple of month earlier stayed at one of the founders of Airbnb’s spare bedroom and had just the highest regards for this community of peer to peer rental exchange. When I placed my first Airbnb booking Airbnb offered $15 discount on my next booking with them if I make an ad with them, which I did. 3 month later I just have Airbnb guests in my flat. That was very distracting from building my start up. I spend a lot of time holidaying with my guests. Now I was the one taken them to clubs. It was an amazing time. We often ran out of space, so I build wooden loft beds in the rooms and put sofa beds under, that there was more flexibility. With that extra sleeping space available I got more and more interest from bigger groups. Once I got approved as a foster carer I rented a flat opposite and let the guests stay there. This has been going on now for a couple of years and the flats have changed as they are just rented. I have met thousands of inspiring people. I also hope to give some inspiration back. The bigger successful hosts work with professional cleaning companies. I still work with the local person who cleaned my flat before I was a host. The cleaning work was more than one person could do as it is not often, but can be on any of the 7 days of the week, so we found more locals to help. These are cleaners, but more important they are local and can let you in even when your flight is delayed. These are often mums who bring their children with them when they prepare the flat for you. The flats are made to fit a small family to a touring Brass band. The kitchen has big cooking pots and enough glasses and plates for everyone, if more people want to join the stay. The art in the flat is all from a local friend. I have worked and travelled at a number of places in the world. We just have one life and should choose the location we spend wisely. I love that feeling you have when you come back to a place you have been before when you are travelling. You will always remember the area where you have stayed and get a bit attached to it. I have a number of guests who call my flats their London home and when they come back and I do not rent that flat anymore then at least they would like to stay close by. This area of London where my flats are is very special and I am proud of being able to call it my base. I would like to share this amazing area with you and will it forever stay in your memory.
