About this listing
Natalie's Room has high ceilings, long leaf pine floors, natural light and a stunning downtown view. Tastefully decorated with a full-sized bed and family heirlooms, the entry door has a built in ringer. This room shares a bath with the Oat Willie Room. Natalie Von Schenk, the room's namesake, was one of the principals of the German-American Ladies College and lived at the school. Her sister's family and descendants lived in the house for 100 years after the school closed.
Experience the century-old simplicity and ambiance of the Old School, a centrally-located historic home, whose broad, sweeping porches look out over the Austin landscape. The spacious rooms and grounds make the perfect site to host festivities. The location is easy walking distance to the Capitol, Sixth Street, restaurants like Franklin's barbeque, hip east side bars, and galleries.
A suite of three bedrooms upstairs will sleep six. The other two rooms are listed separately on Airbnb as the Inn at Old School Oat Willie's Room and Inn at the Old School (Kate's Room). Downstairs you will find the large East Room and one and a half baths. You may contact me about renting all four rooms together.
Amenities include wifi, parking, and flat screen television, large comfortable living room, inviting outdoor spaces with native plants and antique roses, spacious porches with rocking chairs, and welcoming cats. Relax and unwind in this unique space.

I grew up in South Jersey outside of Philly. My family came from Wyoming and I like to visit there and go fishing each summer. I have been lucky to mother a number of children as a step mother, foster mother, adoptive mother and birth mother. My children have become teachers, chaplains, peace corps volunteers, activists, union organizers, business persons, and parents themselves. I am a Legal Aid lawyer and general agitator for justice. I hope we leave the world a better place because of our actions.
