Cindy and her family were very accommodating, and Cindy went out of her way to make us feel welcomed. We loved the zen suite, as it was a nice and quiet neighborhood in stark contrast with the crowded, chaotic Waikiki. This was our first airbnb stay, and we are extremely appreciative of this experience and their amazing hospitality.
Prior to our arrival, Cindy always remained in constant communication and very promptly answered any questions we had. She was even kind enough to let us know there would be construction going on at her home, and graciously offered us an option for a refund. There were such thoughtful amentities (shampoo, board games, sunblock, shaving cream, utensils, numerous towels, etc) in the room and a lovely private entrance, as well as an amazing view to wake up to.
Cindy even offered to help us do laundry, which was very sweet - as well as providing awesome recommendations. The only downside is that it can get super hot in the zen suite and there is no A/C, however the fans and open windows do a good job of cooling things down. We loved our stay, hope to be back soon!
Cindy, Matt and their children are wonderful people and great hosts. Their advice on anything we asked was excellent. Zen Suite was clean, light filled, airy and cool during the night. We slept well on the bed and our son on the roll out floor-mattress, which may be inadequate for 2 adults but was fine with our teenage son. During our departure, they gave us beautiful leis - what a pleasant surprise.
Matt and Cindy are great hosts, friendly and hospitable, and their whole family, including Peanut, the dog, were lovely people.
Lodging was as described, clean and with a great sunset view. Hot during the day, but cool ocean breezes made sleeping very comfortable. Location was great. Would definitely use the Zen room again on a future visit to Oahu.
Cindy and her family are very warm and wonderful people. They made me feel welcomed right from the start. The communication before, during, and after was great and timely.
The room was just as described by the profile. They were very thoughtful with the little things, also, which included things like hooks, coffee/filters, towels, and pretty much anything you might have forgotten (first aid kit, razors, shampoo, sunscreen). I was very comfortable staying here, leaving the windows open the entire stay with the wonderful breeze flowing through day and night.
I loved this family, the room, and their little dog peanut. I would feel honored to stay with them again in the future.
Cindy is very welcoming. The family is all very friendly. This non-smoking room was clean, and all necessary toiletries, etc. were included. The host was very thoughtful and provided baby books, and toys for my 1 year old. It was a very pleasant experience. I enjoyed having a non-smoking yard for my baby to run around in and the privacy with the gated entrance to the home.
Such an amazing space! Filled with light and clean positive energy. The Hosts are smiling and sincere, with great info and advice on the area. They made sure I felt welcome and safe. There is a little dog, "Peanut" that might follow you around a bit, but never enters the rental space (I am not a fan of dogs, but this little guy is pretty chill). The neighborhood is a bit dense, but once you enter the Zen Suite area, you will forget you are even in a residential area. Sleeping with the windows and doors open in this revitalizing space, I've had the best sleep in a long long time.
I hope to be able to return for a longer stay. Thanks!
We couldn't have had nicer stay with Cindy and Matt. Setting is beautiful, and the room and porch are very relaxing. Loved having access to their beach gear. Cindy and Matt and their children were warm, friendly and most welcoming. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!
About the Host, Matt & Cindy
We are a Part-Hawaiian family who enjoy our island home.
We love our HOME.
We love THE OCEAN.
We love to TRAVEL.
We love to EAT.
We love to HOST.
We host for 3 reasons beyond the extra income (for which we are grateful):
1. SHARE OUR CULTURE.
We are OF THIS LAND. Being Native Hawaiian is meaningful to us, and we want to share our perspective of Hawaii vs the Hollywood stereotype. We love when guests come along with us and enjoy real, local experiences of eating, playing or even community service. It's priceless.
2. CREATE RELATIONSHIPS.
While our schedules don't always allow for it, we really value getting to know you. We do our best to be available to help you with plans or invite you along with us when possible. At the least we like to say hello and goodbye as we cross paths near the parking area.
3. BROADEN OUR MINDS.
You bring to us your own culture, personality, career and lifestyle. It teaches possibilities - and more importantly teaches us that anything is possible. You help make our world smaller, more connected, friendlier. We appreciate that.
