This newly remodeled Baja Room is bright and interesting! It has beautiful Mexican crafts, many from Baja and art collected on my extensive travels around the Loreto area and the SIerras on mule rides to the beautiful Gran Mural cave paintings.

The Space

This newly remodeled Baja Room is bright and interesting! It has beautiful Mexican crafts, many from Baja and art collected on my extensive travels to the Loreto area and the SIerras on mule rides to the beautiful Gran Mural cave paintings of Central Baja. Sleep like a baby in the new bed with beautiful linens.

Why not come to stay and enjoy this beautiful property in Northern California's Sonoma County? I have prepared a document called, WHERE THE LOCALS GO, that is emailed to every guest who books, so you will be prepared on arrival for exploring this glorious gem, Western Sonoma County. And read below for a fabulous weekend itinerary for a birthday or reward for yourself/yourselves!

Great wi-fi connection. Two bikes to has 21 gears and the other has none.

I have soft coolers, beach/stadium chairs and more for you to use. Plenty of shampoo, conditioners, lotions...... Leave these things at home and save the air baggage charges! Even if you live close by don't lug these around unless necessary. Ask me if there's something you need.

These Fall days have been really warm and sunny. Our nights are cool from the marine influence but this just heightens the experience of sitting in the hot tub under the stars and getting so toasty warm. The days are still gloriously warm and the gardens are getting ready to rest but still so beautiful. Large groups of birds are eating the bird seed and Hummingbird nectar I put out as fast as I can replenish it. This is a beautiful time of the year in the garden.

The house and garden here and the nearby winery gardens are always beautiful! The house is private, far back from the road and the yard and gardens are beautiful & super quiet. Enjoy the outside seating areas that are very relaxing for sitting & reading in the morning or afternoon sun or shade. Sit on the patio and the six friendly resident hummingbirds will hum by and feed at the many nectar feeders. We have nesting swallows and bluebirds in the Spring and Summer. There are Red-tailed and Red-shouldered hawks and Barn and Great-horned owls around every day and night year-round.

The Baja Room is newly remodeled and painted a rich burnt orange like the sunrises and sunsets of Baja California. It has a comfortable high quality double mattress. It has beautiful antiques and crafts and art from Baja California. I was a sea kayak guide there in the 1990s and still spend time there often each year. I know much of the peninsula quite well and can advise you about driving down or exploring by car, kayak or mule. I love "talking Baja". I do slide shows at West Coast REIs for the Loreto outfitter who I have worked for over the years.

There is a second bedroom next to The Baja Room, called The Hawaiian Room. The Hawaiian Room has a full bed, beautiful antiques and Hawaiian themed art and linens. The sea green walls reflect a color that will fill you with the ambiance of beautiful Hawaiian beaches.

Rent both rooms together for a discounted price at my other airbnb listing....."Rent 2 Bedrooms in Wine Country w/spa" These two rooms are often rented by friends traveling together and they are at the opposite side of the house from my master bedroom so it feels very private.....your own wing of the house.

Continental breakfast available upon request and for $5 per person. You are welcome to use the kitchen for the microwave to heat up your prepared foods....but no large meal preparation, please. There's an electric stainless steel kettle for heating water and a coffeemaker, and you may help yourself to coffee beans, the grinder and a variety of teas. Bring your own dairy milk as I have non dairy milks only. If I am traveling you would have unlimited use of the kitchen but I then ask that you leave the house in the condition found and may charge a cleaning fee .....can be totally reimbursed if the house is left as found.

You will share use the luxury bathroom. Just off the bathroom is a patio with a hot tub under the stars.....bring a bathing suit. There are 2 other rentals on this property. The tenants are professional and not intrusive, The one bedroom house is rented by a young couple who are relocating to the area. A young man lives in the second small room/house in the garden behind the main house and he shares the large bathroom in this main house for the commode only. He is super quiet and respectful. We all knock for the bathroom. He has his own shower at his house. I rarely run into him as he works a couple jobs and spends time away from home. Sharing the bathroom has been easy.

My cat is lovable and sweet. She has a cat door to the outside gardens from the opposite side of the house through the master bedroom. And she has automatic watering and feeding. She is felinely independent and sleeps 95% of the day.... expert rester and super soft for cuddling! She does not go in either The Baja Room or The Hawaiian Room so they are pet-free. She stays on my side of the house primarily.

Sebastopol has historically been a farming community. There are wonderful farms with local vegetables, fruits, mushrooms, various local cheeses, berries, hayrides, wool. Many farms are organic and some are U-Pick farms, see FARM TRAILS SONOMA COUNTY online. There is a Farmer's Market on the Sebastopol town plaza on Sundays from 10-1pm.

We are in the middle of the Wine Country in a small progressive town with interesting people & events. There is a local Sebastopol stage theater, Main Stage West.

As well Sonoma County has beautiful hiking, biking, birding, big redwood trees, coastal trails, swimming, canoeing, sea kayaking, hot air ballooning, antique shops, Open Art Studio weekends, Celtic Music Festival, Apple Festivals Parades & Festivals in Spring and late Summer, Petaluma Victorian home tours, theaters and great restaurants! There are over 100 wineries within a 20 minute drive and many more within a half hour drive. Most wineries have lovely picnic areas for public use.

Sebastopol has a few wonderful wine tasting shops, my favorite is The WIne Emporium on Main Street. If you want to tour wineries and can have someone else drive (this is the best idea) then you can see a few wonderful places and sip glorious wines. Or you can try Wine Country Journeys LLC from $99/pp door to door. For balloon rides see BALLOONTOURS online. Do both of these trips and have a fabulous wonderful weekend of fun! Why go anywhere else? Sonoma County is THE TOP! Every time I travel and return I think, "(email hidden) I live in this paradise!----my home and this beautiful area!."

There are superb restaurants nearby, both budget and gourmet. Many use local, organic vegetables. Sebastopol has 3 Japanese restaurants, 2 Thai restaurants, the best vegetarian restaurant in the county, Slice of Life, and numerous muy sabroso Mexican taquerias and gourmet restaurants. As well we (email hidden) restaurant, The French Garden, and another organic California cuisine establishment, Peter Lowell's. The famous wood-fired brick oven gourmet bread bakery in Freestone, Wild Flour Bread, is nearby on the road to Bodega Bay where you can buy cheese, olive fennel and other savory breads as well as sweet ginger, pear and other sweet whole grain delicacies. People flock here from all over the Bay Area.

This is an affordable and pleasant accommodation for visiting friends and family, workshop attendees, wedding guests or someone on a temporary work assignment, like a nurse. And this is a great stopover for people traveling or those wanting to explore Sonoma County or the San Francisco Bay Area. The Golden Gate Bridge is 55 miles south on 101, the Russian River resort area & the Pacific Ocean/Bodega Bay is 1/2 hr drive & Santa Rosa is a 10-15 minute drive. We're 4.5 miles from Route 101, off Route 116 West.

Total cost for The Baja Room is $69-89/night and a minimum of 2-3 nights in the Summer. The cost is $69-$89 for either the Hawaiian Room or The Baja Room or $140-$160/night (minimum 2 nights) for both rooms depending on the number of guests and $559/ week for either The Hawaiian Room or for The Baja Room or $975/week for both rooms.

I look forward to sharing this beautiful property with you! Welcome!

  • My first experience with Airbnb was so fantastic. Vicki is such a pleasant, easy going person, her house is amazing, and her relaxed and trusting nature made me feel like an old friend staying for the weekend rather than a solo traveler, as I was. Her house and room were as described. Very clean, comfortable and cozy! I picked lettuce and herbs from the garden for my lunches and watched hummingbirds enjoy her abundant garden as much as I did. Thanks so much Vicki for making my stay so relaxing after my busy days at Tribal Fest. I hope to bring my family back with me next time.

    Response from Vicki:

Yes, I hope to see you another time with your family or alone. Hope your drive home was OK. Glad to see you made it. Be sure to email me your address so I can mail back the necklace I found in your room. Maybe you didn't get my email about that? Take good care. Really enjoyed your easy friendly spirit!

  • We had a great time this weekend at Vicki's place. She is a warm and generous host and this made the visit special by itself.

She's very familiar with Sebastopol and environs, Baja and kayaking so you can benefit from her knowledge.

We would enjoy coming back in the future.

  • Staying in Vicki's home was a wonderful experience: warm, inviting, cozy, beautiful, quiet, and comfortable. I stayed just one night, and would return again. Vicki is welcoming and helpful, easy to converse with, interested in many of life's adventures!
I am grateful to have had such a comfortable home to nest in for the night!

  • Vicki was an amazing host. I mean just wonderful. She is fascinating, kind, funny and caring with her guests. The bed was so comfortable that I inquired and am now looking forward to getting a mattress like that for our home. My husband usually wakes up stiff and in pain, but for the two days we stayed at this gorgeous home nothing! Also, the pictures for her house really just don't do it justice. It is in a beautiful area, with a gorgeous garden and humming birds that whir past your head at every turn. The house has gorgeous art and is a visual treat.

I also need to mention that Vicki recommended the perfect places for us to go on my birthday, they have become a collection of unique and gorgeous memories that have increased the value of my time here on earth.

  • My wife and I spent a night at Vicki's in the Baja room. She's an easy going and welcoming host with a beautiful property. The bed was very comfortable and the house is very clean and cozy, and very artfully decorated. It's in a quiet neighborhood, and we saw an amazing shooting star while in the hot tub outside. Vicki gave us great advice on things to see in the area, like Armstrong forest for giant sequoias and the town of Jenner by the sea for a great day of sightseeing. Two thumbs up!

  • Vicki is the warmest and sweetest host you'll ever have. Her home is home away from home. Baja Room has a very comfortable bed, it's blankets warm and it's pillows are perfect.
Vicki allows the use of her hot tub. The use of it was a great addition to a fun weekend. I highly recommend Vicki and her Baja Room to you.

  • Vicki's place immediately felt like home....warm and cozy, just my taste in décor, comfy bed....if I had hung out with her, i am sure I would have enjoyed her company. she even feeds the birds with many feeders, and has built a contraption to keep them from flying into the big glass living room window ....I never ran into anyone else on the property, and we had total privacy during our entire stay, including a good long late night soak in the hot tub. a great bday--thank you!!!!

Happily retired from construction. Love sharing my Sonoma County home with visitors. Been traveling lots in the last years when I am not volunteer teaching English and playing and performing ukulele. I'm a proud Mom and Grandma and am appreciating my 3 childrens' growth into lovely humans. I am open to exchanges especially with people who have stayed here already. I especially like to travel to Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico (that's one place but a mouthful!). I kayak in Baja and in the SF Bay Area. I do publicity for the company that I worked for as a sea kayak guide in the early 90s and love telling anyone about Baja, Paddling/Saddling South, the outfitter who I represent and kayaking and riding mules up to the Central Baja Great Mural Cave Art.....beautiful! I also like to trips in the last few years include Ireland, The Amazon, Amsterdam, England and Wales, Baja California, Costa Rica, Dominica, Belize, Vancouver, Yosemite, Hawaii, Cancun and Tulum, Mexico City, San Miguel de Allende, Puerto Vallarta, Phoenix and Sedona, Big Sur Coast, Vermont. My latest passion is playing the ukulele and singing with local groups at jams, practices, sing-a-longs and performances. And I love hosting folks from airbnb.
