Private Montecito Guest Cottage

House - Entire home/apt · Miramar Ave, Santa Barbara, CA 93108, United States

The Space

Charming, private, Montecito guest cottage. Located behind our historic 1912 Craftsman home, the cottage has two bedrooms, one bathroom, living room, full kitchen, its own private garden patio, and off- street parking for one car on our gated property. One bedroom has a queen bed with Tempurpedic mattress, and the other bedroom has two twins. (We provide lots of linens and towels, including beach towels.) Amenities include a flat screen TV ( basic cable), WiFi, a well equipped kitchen, and a washer/dryer.
The cottage is a short walk to Miramar/Hammonds Beach, and when the tide is right you can stroll along the beach to the Biltmore Four Seasons and Butterfly Beach. The cottage is also convenient for the stores and restaurants in Montecito's Lower and Upper Villages, where you'll find everything from a supermarket, a post office and coffee shops, to Italian, Japanese, Chinese and Mexican restaurants, a bistro, a pizza joint, and some great little boutiques.
If you're feeling energetic, a short drive will take you to the trailheads for some breathtaking hiking trails up into the canyons. Or head into downtown Santa Barbara, which is also just a very short drive away, for more stores and restaurants, plus cinemas and museums, and the simple pleasure of strolling down State Street on a sunny day.

A note about heating: One review states that there is no heating in the cottage. In fact there are space heaters to keep the cottage cozy during cool spells, but they're stored in the closets when not in use. Unfortunately, the guest who was cold didn't tell us he was uncomfortable, so we didn't have an opportunity to show him where they were. We now encourage all guests to let us know if there's anything amiss!

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • The cottage feels very private, although it's conveniently close to town. The layout is also good; the two bedrooms and bathroom all are separated so you don't hear each other. The full kitchen was well-stocked with everyone one could want; when we needed coffee filters, Lainie popped over immediately. We arrived late and famished to find a delectable spread of goodies waiting for us.

  • Laini was great! The place was clean and comfortable and she was very accommodating of us, particularly our very late arrival time. She even gave us fresh squeezed orange juice from their tree. I'd definitely go back!

    - Queen bed was very comfortable
    - semi stocked fridge and snacks - including a gallon of water!
    - ample towels
    - Generally clean
    - Cozy decor
    - Kitchen had most appliances and utensils
    - Very private, Laini gave us a lot of space even though we were on her property
    - Parking for 1 car was perfect

  • Cute 2 bedroom cottage in a convenient location, felt very private. Comfortable, clean, charming. Tiny, dated bathroom though.
    Would stay there again.

    Response from Laini:

Sorry that Cynthia was disappointed with the "dated" bathroom. We want all our guests to feel good about their choice of our cottage for their visit to Santa Barbara, so we're pleased to know that Cynthia would stay with us again!

  • Laini was a great host, her place was clean & comfortable! Perfect location for us while attending wedding events at the Four Season! She left us some welcome treats which made our stay even better. Highly recommend their place if you are in the area.

  • We really enjoyed our stay here. The cottage was very clean which is something that is very important to us. Laini was very fast in communicating to our inquiries, and she was very accommodating to our needs. She also provided us with some basic groceries, and a goodie basket for us to enjoy. I would highly recommend staying here, and Laini we would like to thank you for a wonderful stay!

  • Wonderful location and setting. Guest home was a perfect fit. Enough room for a family of four. The added bonus was the outside space - a lovely outside garden and eating area.

We would highly recommend her cottage.

Laini was attentive to our needs and we look forward to another visit - soon!

  • We had a wonderful time at Laini's cottage. The place is well appointed, cozy, clean and spacious. Laini was a wonderful host. She made sure we had everything we needed and even left several basic food items for us to enjoy. Communication was excellent too. I highly recommend Laini and her cottage to the Airbnb community.

Peter and I have lived in Santa Barbara for close to twenty years, raising our two children here. I'm originally from England and Peter's from New York. We both love to travel but we love coming home to Santa Barbara, which is a very special place. In my professional life, I'm an appellate criminal defense attorney, doing work that I love in my own small, part-time practice. When I'm not working or spending time with friends or family, I'm involved in a number of local community organizations, plus I like to run on the beach, cook, and putter around my garden. I also read a lot, fiction and non-fiction, and I'm a big fan of the New York Times which I read every day, What else? We have two cats and a large German Shepherd, who keep us on our toes....
