The Space

Hello. Thank you for looking at my listing.

I have two fully furnished large bedrooms available in my newly remodeled 1900+ sq ft home in San Mateo, CA. (There's another listing for the other bedroom on this site. I have to make two separate listings because the calendar can only show availability for one listing each.) The house is in a residential neighborhood with ample parking, 15 miles south of downtown San Francisco. It's about 15-20 minutes drive to SF border, or you can take the bus to Millbrae BART station or walk to the San Mateo or Burlingame CalTrain stations to get to SF, or south bound to Mountain View or Palo Alto. For those days/nights when you want to explore the suburbs, nearby within two miles are downtown Burlingame and downtown San Mateo with shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. A little more south are Palo Alto and Silicon Valley. I am also two blocks from the bay trail where you can go for a run or a bike ride for miles and miles. It is absolutely beautiful and will lighten your spirit. San Mateo is below the fog line so you are almost always guaranteed to see the sun in the summer and most of winter, which is more than you can say about SF.

There is a daybed with trundle in one bedroom and a queen size bed in another. As you can see from the pictures, the entire house is flooded with light. There is wi-fi through out the house. The room with the daybed has its own bathroom and the room with the queen bed is larger, more private but has a shared bathroom. All bathrooms are new and with shower over tub. Towels and linens are available for your convenience. For those guests who are staying for more than a week, washer and dryer are also available for your use. Rentals include utilities and wi-fi.

If you are interested in booking a room but the calendar shows it is unavailable, please check my other listing. The other room may be available.

I frequently travel on business so you may have the whole house to yourself for the entire or part of your stay. I have an indoor cat and a toy poodle dog but the house is immaculate as I have a cleaning service every other week. The cat stays home while the dog goes to a sitter when I travel.

While I welcome tourists and travelers, my house is also perfect as short term rentals for those students who are doing internships in nearby Foster City, Palo Alto or Mountain View. Genentech is even a short drive to the north toward SF.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns that I have not addressed here. I hope you will come and stay with Lulu (dog) and Titi (cat) and me as we love our clean, spacious and beautiful home. But if not, we still wish you a memorable visit to the beautiful and magical Bay Area.

  • Thi was super responsive, provided all the information needed, and the apartment was great. Clean, spacious, private bathroom - perfect. Fast Wifi. We didn't have the chance to meet, but hope to do so next time!

The neighborhood is quiet - a grocery store is 2min footwalk.

  • Thi is hospitable, considerate, thoughtful and kind. Her place is very comfortable to live in - it's clean and tidy. And, she made sure I always have a place to lock up my bike. She even welcomed me to join her for dinners, and I love her cooking.

I find it convenient to get around the area with my bicycle - cafes, convenience store, downtown Burlingame and downtown San Mateo.

    Highly recommended!

  • Thi is an exceptionally kind and accommodating host. Though we didn't get to see each other much during my stay because of clashing working schedules, she made sure to communicate with me through email to ensure I was settled and comfortable. The house itself is clean and cozy, as was the room I stayed in. I will definitely hope to stay here again when I'm back in the Bay.

  • I am using airbnb since a couple of years and this was by far my best experience. The room itself was nice and clean, the same for the house. Thi is a very helpful person - she even took the time to go with me on a sightseeing trip in san francisco and went with me to a bike shop (I needed a bike to go to the next city every day).

  • My experience at YT´s was amazing. She is a lovely person. Since the first moment you meet her, you feel she is a perfect host. And she cooks really really good!
The house is soooo clean, and you feel very very confortable in it. The room is big, and bright. The bed is very confortable.
If you have to work in San Francisco or if you want to visit San Francisco the location is perfect! You have to drive like 10 minutes to the city. Next to the area there are as welll many wonderful places to visit or to go for shopping, dinner... like: Mountain View, Burlingame, Palo Alto...

  • I stayed with Thi for 6 weeks, and I had a great time. Thi is a warm, kind, gracious host, and a truly wonderful, intelligent, and fun person. I felt happy and at peace in her presence. She also made such yummy Vietnamese food, which I now find myself craving all the time.

The house is clean, the bed is comfortable, the bathroom has plenty of space behind the mirror for toiletries and things, and the shower has great water pressure and a rounded shower curtain rod. I really appreciated having the desk, the mirrored closet with shelves and hangers, and the empty drawers in my bedroom, and having the bathroom all to myself, during my extended stay.

The neighborhood is cute and quiet, and the house is just a few blocks from the 101, so it's really easy to get around.

I will miss Thi and Titi and Lulu, and I will come back to visit whenever I can.

  • Staying at Thi's house was interesting and comfortable.
Her house is really nice, there is enough space and interior is pleasant to the eyes. I liked to spend some time inside the house. as much as outside of it. The neighborhood is quiet. The bay is in walking distance, sometimes it was nice to go for a walk near the water or sit on the bench to read a book.
Thi is very good person, easy-going, friendly and intellectual. She was attentive to make sure that her guests feel comfortable in her house. We had nice and interesting talks. Also she is an expert in good places to eat, we visited a couple of places together to which I'd like to return if I have a chance in the future, hope together with Thi again :)
Also it is worth to mention the animals who live in the house - young energetic poodle Lulu and wise cat Titi, they added a lot of positive moments by acting so fun together or on each own.

  • Thi is a wonderful host and always eager to please! She's full of energy (...nothing compared to a young Lulu darting all over the place though) and I was lucky enough to sample some of her fine cooking, which included an impressive set of chili-based products - hhhot, but tasty!

The house is about 20 mins walk from Caltrain and Downtown San Mateo, which is super handy, but a car (or bike) is advisable. If driving, it's literally 30 seconds to 101!

I stayed for a month and loved every minute of my stay here. I'll be back!

  • YT is an amazing host - very generous and inviting. Room was perfect with a desk and closet space/drawers. Comfortable bed too. Everything is immaculately clean. Shared bathroom with another renter when there is one, and some use of the kitchen for breakfast basics etc.

I walked to the San Mateo Caltrain station in about 20 minutes. Biking was about 10 min door to door max. There is a place to lock up your bike in the backyard.

About
Hi. I'm a professional woman, working as a lawyer in San Francisco. I have two spare bedrooms on offer in my beautiful and clean home in San Mateo, twenty minutes from San Francisco and equal distance to Silicon Valley. I travel on business at least once a month and stay in very nice luxurious hotels, but when I travel for fun, I like to have the "home feel". I have had great experiences with Airbnb so far, both as a host and as a guest.
