About this listing
Waikiki is CRAZY! Sometimes it's just too much. Those looking for a bit of respite from the madness yet still right next to the action will find this room in Kaimuki the perfect alternative. Nestled on the hillside of Whilemina Rise, this property hosts two homes, a studio, and terraced gardens. On the top terrace sits the wine barrel hot tub and lawn. A short walk down the hill will find you in Honolulu's favorite quaint town...Kaimuki. Home to some of the best Restaurants in town suiting all budgets, bars, and other fun shopping opportunities.
Your hosts Louise and Kahi can guide you to the secrets of Hawaii allowing you to experience true Hawaii. One of the best hikes on the island is just up the road and some of the best beaches are just a short ride away. Public transportation is available just a block away and can get you almost anywhere on the island as Oahu's public transportation is one of the nations best.
Grocery stores are close so you can cook your own meals using our stocked kitchen. You can also help yourselves to oatmeal, home made granola, fresh eggs from the yard, and fresh veggies when available.
The room in our house is unique from others on this website because it is an opportunity to live as a local in an unforgettable setting. We live in the house with you and sometimes the other airbnb room is booked too. But it doesn't get crowded. The property has all the seclusion you could want to just find your special spot to soak in the view, or soak in the tub, or BOTH!
Our home is your home. Cook, nap, lounge, soak, cruise, read, sleep, whatever.
As much as they like and never more than they need.
Kaimuki is the coolest neighborhood in Honolulu because it has a feel, charm, and a main street. Every type of food you could imagine is served within a short walking distance.
Fresh coffee from one of the best baristas in town is a two minute walk away.
The residential feel of the neighborhood will make you feel as though you are living as a local, which you are. Skip Waikiki overnighters and just go check it out
Yes, the bus stop is right down the road (3 minute walk). There is also the taxi service UBER, now there is Lyft, and then always the reliable local taxis too.
You can rent a car if you like. Or a moped preferred as parking is tight.
THE TAP WATER IS GREAT. You do not need to buy single use plastic water bottles. We have reusable bottles you can borrow. We run a non-profit called Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii so we are cleaning beaches often and reducing plastic use always.
Smile you are in Hawaii! Enjoy yourself. No smoking in the house. Close the doors when you leave. Turn off the waterfall if it's after 10AM and you are leaving. Make sure you turn off the hot tub after you use it and turn off the backyard lights. In other words, try to conserve energy where you can but enjoy yourself and don't sacrifice your comfort for our energy consumption reduction goals. You come first.
Even though we never met our hosts, Sarah the house sitter welcomed us very warm.
We found the whole plantation to be a gem within the city boundaries. We enjoyed the fresh Mango from the tree and the chicken rewarded us with fresh eggs after I helped catching them.
The view from the hot tub is amazing. I really recommend staying there if you are up for a hidden pleasure. Thank you some much
It was so wonderful to be at Kahi and Louise's home for a full week. Being away from the crowds and traffic of Waikiki was a HUGE bonus. Plenty of nearby trails to get to and hike, plenty of beaches to enjoy, local noms aplenty. We chose their home because of the views, their sustainability (aaaah the chickens!), and their ingenuity (have you seen their hot tub?). They're both friendly, accommodating, and fun people. Looking forward to next year already!!
Louise was super friendly to my boyfriend and I and was always very helpful. Their mangos were delicious and their view is to die for to catch the sunset or jacuzzi with the city lights at night. I loved how close we were to the freeway so it was easy going to and from downtown. Best place to live in Honolulu:)
My partner and I had a great time at Kahi and Louise's place. They are so chill, down to earth, and generous. we lucked out that we came during mango season. We didn't get to take advantage of the hot tub because it was so hot during the day and we got so sleepy early, but there's always next time! Highly recommend staying with them, they will provide you all kinds of great information about the island and places to eat. I really appreciate that they are so dedicated to preserving the island resources, so if you cook, don't forget to compost and ask them to borrow reusable bags :). Thank you for our stay!
Our stay at Kahi and Louise's house was very refreshing for our first stop on Oahu! Both were very hospitable and let us "feel at home." The fresh eggs and mangoes were certainly handy, and the view from their balcony was simply breathtaking.
Kahi and Louise were also nice enough to suggest a few good hotspots nearby, and even dropped us off at a few places during our stay (very handy if you make the mistake of NOT renting a car in Hawaii).
Both were always around when we needed it, but left us alone to ensure that we also had our private time. We couldn't speak highly enough of these two hosts.
It was great to stay in your house! Kahi&Louise are such nice hosts and they make you feel like you're at home! Shukran jazilan (شكرا جزيلا) ;-))
