About this listing
Waikiki is CRAZY! Sometimes it's just too much. Those looking for a bit of respite from the madness yet still right next to the action will find this room in Kaimuki the perfect alternative. Nestled on the hillside of Whilemina Rise, this property hosts two homes, a studio, and terraced gardens. On the top terrace sits the wine barrel hot tub and lawn. A short walk down the hill will find you in Honolulu's favorite quaint town...Kaimuki. Home to some of the best Restaurants in town suiting all budgets, bars, and other fun shopping opportunities.
Your hosts Louise and Kahi can guide you to the secrets of Hawaii allowing you to experience true Hawaii. One of the best hikes on the island is just up the road and some of the best beaches are just a short ride away. Public transportation is available just a block away and can get you almost anywhere on the island as Oahu's public transportation is one of the nations best.
Grocery stores are close so you can cook your own meals using our stocked kitchen. You can also help yourselves to oatmeal, home made granola, fresh eggs from the yard, and fresh veggies when available.
The room in our house is unique from others on this website because it is an opportunity to live as a local in an unforgettable setting. We live in the house with you and sometimes the other airbnb room is booked too. But it doesn't get crowded. The property has all the seclusion you could want to just find your special spot to soak in the view, or soak in the tub, or BOTH!
Our home is your home. Cook, nap, lounge, soak, cruise, read, sleep, whatever.
As much as they like and never more than they need.
Kaimuki is the coolest neighborhood in Honolulu because it has a feel, charm, and a main street. Every type of food you could imagine is served within a short walking distance.
Fresh coffee from one of the best baristas in town is a two minute walk away.
The residential feel of the neighborhood will make you feel as though you are living as a local, which you are. Skip Waikiki overnighters and just go check it out
Yes, the bus stop is right down the road (3 minute walk). There is also the taxi service UBER, now there is Lyft, and then always the reliable local taxis too.
You can rent a car if you like. Or a moped preferred as parking is tight.
THE TAP WATER IS GREAT. You do not need to buy single use plastic water bottles. We have reusable bottles you can borrow. We run a non-profit called Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii so we are cleaning beaches often and reducing plastic use always.
Smile you are in Hawaii! Enjoy yourself. No smoking in the house. Close the doors when you leave. Turn off the waterfall if it's after 10AM and you are leaving. Make sure you turn off the hot tub after you use it and turn off the backyard lights. In other words, try to conserve energy where you can but enjoy yourself and don't sacrifice your comfort for our energy consumption reduction goals. You come first.
Our stay at Kahi and Louise's house was very refreshing for our first stop on Oahu! Both were very hospitable and let us "feel at home." The fresh eggs and mangoes were certainly handy, and the view from their balcony was simply breathtaking.
Kahi and Louise were also nice enough to suggest a few good hotspots nearby, and even dropped us off at a few places during our stay (very handy if you make the mistake of NOT renting a car in Hawaii).
Both were always around when we needed it, but left us alone to ensure that we also had our private time. We couldn't speak highly enough of these two hosts.
It was great to stay in your house! Kahi&Louise are such nice hosts and they make you feel like you're at home! Shukran jazilan (شكرا جزيلا) ;-))
Didn't meet Kahi but Louise was awesome. Really hospitable, super friendly, and knows a lot about what to do around the island.
The view from the deck is amazing - the pictures don't do it justice. It's also a really spacious place to relax at night or eat dinner.
The room has a window AC unit, although in late May / early June I only had to use it once when I was forced by work to be in the room mid-day instead of out exploring.
I'd definitely stay here again.
My friend and I went to Hawaii for the first time and spent half of our stay with Kahi and Louise. We felt in love with their place. It is very cozy and charming. The place looks much better than the pictures. The house is very cute et the patio and view are absolutely stunning. The location is great, walkable to Diamond Head and beaches. Kahi and Louise made us feel right at home. They welcomed us with a little flower, which was a very nice touch. We had a great time talking with our hosts about their past trips and ours. They also gave us great recommendations on where to go and what to visit, we really appreciate information from locals. There is also a garden with fresh vegetables that we enjoyed. We also had fresh eggs. We also loved the fresh mangos from their tree. Kahi and Louise also helped us setting up a bbq and gave us a great recipe while we were cooking one night. They definitely made us feel like friends. We had an amazing stay, this home made it even more memorable.
Kahi & Louise were fantastic hosts! They went above & beyond in providing local recommendations that made for a wonderful over all experience. Their home was quite comfortable and a perfect location for our stay. We especially enjoyed their beautiful backyard/garden area.
Great location in Kaimuki - buses, restaurants and shops nearby on Waialae Avenue. Very helpful hosts. Great views from the deck!
Perfect if you're looking for a chill local place away from all the tourists.
