I have tried to edit my summary but no luck. I was going to correct it to say that I now have a Queen sized bed for the front upstairs bedroom. Hooray!! No more antique double bed. Enjoy!
Charming upstairs bedroom with bath and private deck in the quietest neighborhood in San Luis Obispo, seven blocks from downtown. The room has a very comfortable antique double bed. There is another bedroom with bath if needed. The price is the same as first room but negotiable. The second room has a beautiful antique four-poster bed from the 19th century. The house is three blocks from the Splash Café and many other restaurants are in walking distance. I am very close to Cal Poly State University.

Anne's place was just what we were looking for and even better than advertised. We had the top floor (and deck) to ourselves and felt very much at home. Anne was very kind, welcoming and had helpful tips for what to do in the area. She was even kind enough to provide coffee, tea and snacks for our stay. Mr. Nickels was a very sweet cat and oh so friendly. Would definitely recommend.
Staying at Anne's was just like home. We were welcomed with a spacious room and attached full bath. The room and bathroom were extremely clean and well stocked with towels and soaps. Our room and the entire house was beautifully decorated. We slept well after a long day out and about in San Luis Obispo. She also has additional rooms for rent in the event you are traveling with friends and family. We enjoyed meeting both Anne and Mr Nickels (her lovely cat). We look forward to our next stay with Anne. The neighborhood is also lovely, wish we had more time to explore and to enjoy a longer stay. Great location to downtown and Cal Poly.
Anne was a wonderful host and has a lovely home! We felt incredibly welcome and comfortable, with plenty of space to ourselves upstairs. Location is perfect for walking downtown and it is a quick drive to Cal Poly's campus. Next time I am back I would love to stay again!
Anne was very welcoming. She met us at the door and we got to talk awhile. Anne is an excellent host. I liked the little touches - packets of coffee and tea, mixed nuts and fruit, hot water, pretty plates, interesting original art. I liked how Anne's personal view of the world and selection of art and objects were original and integrated - so different from mass produced hotel décor. I also much appreciated the kindness of a sunhat for the gorgeous warm and sunny central California January weather. Coming from the cold and snowy U.S. northeast, I hadn't thought about bringing a sunhat! The neighborhood is peaceful and convenient, and the queen bed is so comfortable and cozy.
Anne provided the perfect mix of privacy and friendliness. The bedroom I stayed in was comfortable and the bathroom connected to the bedroom felt as private as any hotel room would have. I was able to do laundry, which was much appreciated. Being within walking distance from SLO made things easier since there was one occasion when I needed to walk back to Anne's from downtown. The neighborhood felt very safe; I was able to go for a run there without any problems whatsoever. The morning muffin and other small tidbits to eat and drink were much appreciated. Overall this was a great experience and I would recommend this room to others.
Anne - thank you again for your warm hospitality and conversation while a guest in your lovely home. I hope my future plans bring me back to SLO for another stay.
I have lived in San Luis Obispo since 1974. Before that I lived in New Mexico. I am interested in the arts, books, good food and what is going on around town. I have a cat and nice neighbors.
