A huge, sunny room in a beautiful Harlem brownstone. The room comes with an air mattress and couch, breakfast table, desk, reading lamps, nice places to sit, and closet space. Feel free to use the huge kitchen as well! The floors are shiny hardwood and covered in pretty rugs. Everything is clean, dusted, shined and smelling good.
The whole block is brownstones, and the room is on the third floor, with floor to ceiling windows and wide enough window sills to sit and enjoy the view below, but high enough from the ground to avoid the noise.
You're right by great public transportation here. The express 2/3 trains are just blocks away, which will take you along the Upper West Side, to Times Square, through Wall Street and into Brooklyn. The express A/D and the local B/C are also a short walk away, and will take you through the heart of Manhattan.
The walk to Central Park from the room is just half a mile. You'll see the Harlem Meer and be near some of the prettiest hidden gardens in the whole park. You'll also be near the Apollo Theater, Red Rooster Restaurant, Marcus Samuelsson's newest restaurant, and soul food faves like Amy Ruth's (which has the best mac and cheese ever!!)
Hope to meet you soon!
This is the first time we travel to NYC. We stayed there for 8 days and I would definitely recommend Rhea's place. Great location! Only 5-10 min to subway stations. And the neighbourhood is quiet and nice. I love her cozy, clean and well decorated room. And we do miss her cat Tal.
When I came to NYC to stay at Rhea's appartment, she herself was away, so we communicated through email and notes which was very easy and smooth. As many other reviewees have already written: The location is great and within easy distance of the express train and a very quiet street. The appartment is spacey and light and nice to be in. There is one thing I would like to mention for people who are sensitive in this field: The kitchen was not as clean as I expected it to be according to the ad and the other's reviews. Many things and dishes (of which there are only a few anyway) are covered in really old grime. Worse was even the cat toilet; it desperately needed cleaning and smelled horribly. But maybe that was just a one time happening. Apart from that I recommend Rhea's place!
Thank you for your feedback! It is very important to me that my apartment is clean and comfortable for Airbnb guests! After your note, I hired a professional team to deep clean the kitchen. I've also arranged for my local pet store to clean the cat litter when I am not home to do so.
Thank you for helping me continue to make my apartment comfortable for Airbnb guests.
We were a couple visiting new york and Rhea's room was (website hidden) was close to the subway and we could easily visit the city. Rhea was very kind with us and we realy appreciated our stay !
Fantastic apartment in a beautiful street and incredibly quiet at night- loved it. Area is safe but if you're a bit skittish about the idea of Harlem it's probably not for you. Rhea was delightful and generous. Highly recommended place.
Although we have hardly seen each other, Rhea made us feel so welcome! A simple, but very cosy appartment, comfortable bed (always nice!).
The price/ quality is good and the warm atmosphere is the extra!
Rhea was a delight to stay with! She was extremely welcoming and kind. She provided many suggestions for places to eat, see and do with lists, maps and travel books. Her cat, Tal, has got to be one of the friendliest cats I've ever met! He took naps with us during our stay, and is such a pleasant to be around.
Rhea's apartment is located in a nice and peaceful neighborhood in Harlem. Her place is only a few minute walks away from a cute little coffee shop, food, and the subway stations, very convenient! Her place is neat, tidy and comfortable! We enjoyed our stay with Rhea and had a great first experience with AirBnB and NY!
Rhea is a reliable and really friendly host, everything was clean and tidy. Her cat is gorgeous :)
We really enjoyed our stay!
We loved staying at Rhea's and have been recommending her already! Rhea is so friendly, funny and super helpful with a pile of guides to the area. Her apartment is beautiful, spacious and quiet. Light and airy with lots of quirky decorations that are put together perfectly. The bed was the most comfortable we had stayed in in America and there was plenty of room to put your belongings and make yourself at home.
Tal her cat is the biggest friendliest Cat I have ever met!
We felt safe walking from the metro at night, and the journey is pretty quick.
Rhea was an extraordinary host on our short stay. She provided us with lots of cool information and made us feel very comfortable in her appartment.
The appartment is very clean and has nice furnishing. The bedroom is amazingly large, light and quiet. The bed comfortably fits two.
You'll find everything around: There are many restaurants, cafés, grocery stores, delis...
Going to Times Square is a ~10 mins walk and 14 mins express train ride (line 2 and 3).
We can definitely recommend staying at Rhea's and would surely do it again!
