  • Had a nice break at José Ignacio's apartment. Very clean, decorated nicely and being a top floor it has lots of light. It's literally 5 minutes walking from one of the beaches and very close to the center too. As a host he was very polite and responsive, and shared a couple of tips with us, I'd stay again.

Thanks Javi, hopefully you can come back to us I would greatly pleased to have you stay again in one of our apartments.

  • Hola a todos,

The thing we liked best about the apartment in Castro is the great view it offers and the comfortable feel of it, complete with new appliances (TV, new kitchen appliances). It was a really special time for us because we cooked a lot, watched a lot of Spanish TV, it was good fun. Now the only thing that worked against us was the timing, its winter in an essentially summer town so we could not walk to the beach which is literally a hop away ('coz it was freezing, very rainy most days) plus many local bars are closed on some days. Having said that, Castro is completely worth it. The location of the apartment is perhaps 2-3 kms from the Centre but there's a Carrefour right in front of the building! It's works out so well! In addition the bus station is very close, at the end of the Subida de Campijo street so we could travel to Bilbao easily.

For the price and the amenities it offers, the apartment is a great choice. The host Jose Ignacio was very kind to us and so was Mikhaella, they were always available if and when we needed them. I hope we can return!

The apartment is just as you can see in the fotos. It´s spacious, comfy and furnished tastefully. It was clean and very well equipped. We slept very well, because it is situated in a quiet residencial zone and we enjoyed listening to the (website hidden)ing of the birds in the morning. The location is ideal for travelling around Cantabria and the Basque region. There´s a bus
stop quite near from where we went into the centre of Bilbao twice without having any stress. In a small supermarket nearby we got everything we needed.
José Ignacio is extremely nice and helpful. He gave us all kinds of information that might help to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Moreover, he stayed in contact with us while we we were staying in his apartment enquiring if everything was okay with us. This place is highly recomendable and if possible we would like to go again with our daughters!

  • I stayed 3 nights with my husband and my baby. We wanted to see Bilbao and Santander so it seemed a good place in between. We were really pleased about the place. It is a lot bigger than it seemed in the photos. It is very clean and bright. It is in the penthouse, so the view of the city and the sea is beautiful.
We loved Castro Urdiales. The old port and city is beautiful, it is a 15-20 minutes walk to go there. There is also a supermarket in front of the building.
We saw mijaela, Jose's daughter. Very kind and helpful. Jose made sure everything was ok and gave us advices,
The flat is perfect for families. I recommend it
    Thank you José!

  • My husband and I stayed at Jose’s apartment for two weeks in Apr/13. The minute we walked into the apartment it felt like home to us and we were excited to be there. The apartment is comfortable, clean, modern, and spacious with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. We each had our own bathroom which was great. It had everything to cook our own meals along with a grocery store conveniently located just out the door and half a block down the street. The selection was great with fresh meat, eggs, breads, vegetables, fruit, toiletries, etc. etc. etc. and everything you would need for you stay at the apartment. We thought the bigger grocery stores downtown would have better prices but to our surprise the store near the apartment was cheaper. So we continued to shop at this store the duration of our stay, there was no need to go downtown. The beds were comfortable and it was very quiet at night for sleeping. All the windows were equipped with metal shades that could be pulled down to keep out the light for a longer sleep. I really appreciated those shades, I slept in every day except one. The apartment is on the fourth floor with an elevator and a balcony. The common area and foyer of the apartment block was shiny and clean. Unfortunately the spring weather did not allow us to use the swimming pool so we would take walks to the beach. The beach is about a quick 10 minute walk with the ocean stretching right to the horizon with waves splashing against the rocks. What a fabulous sight!!! Castro Urdiales is a quaint and beautiful fishing village of approximately 33,000 habitants. We spent a week in Santander before going to Castro Urdiales, I felt more comfortable and less intimidated in Castro then a big city like Santander. Castro suited me much better. We were able to meet Jose and his daughter in person. There are both, friendly, reliable, and considerate, accommodating to our schedule and we both appreciated their kindness. We exchanged phone numbers and we were able to keep in contact even before we arrived in Castro. I have nothing but good things to say about Jose, his daughter, the apartment and Castro. It was home to us and we were sad to leave. I would recommend with confidence Jose’s apartment for a long stay. The location is great and the apartment has the atmosphere of being a happy place. My husband and I had a relaxing and enjoyable time in Castro and Jose’s apartment added to our satisfaction. Gracias Joses. 
