About this listing
Besides being one of the few loft buildings in the historic West Village, this apartment has a private outdoor deck. Located short blocks from mass transit, the Hudson River Park and the Highline, the apartment also has boutiques and fine dining nearby.
There's a fold-out bed in the office that comfortably berths two. The larger living room has a day-bed and a trundle that stores underneath -- as well as a separate futon. You have your own bathroom and use of all common areas including the kitchen and deck, as well as the building's rooftop garden.
Spaces can be made more private using the shoji screens.
The entire apartment, EXCEPTING my separate bedroom, is available for your enjoyment. I travel occasionally so you might be left alone, but I try to at least get you settled in and oriented with local tips.
Guests have access to the entire home, with the exception of my bedroom.
Interaction with Guests
This is a shared space, where I live. I enjoy getting guests situated and oriented to begin with. Further interaction is up to our schedules and interests.
No smoking anywhere on property.
Respect your neighbors.
No super high maintenance people.
Internet is provided, but technical support costs extra if you don't know how to use it. If it really isn't working, you won't be charged for them to fix it.
Happy to share the home with you!
Charles is a fantastic host, very welcoming. Every single time trying to make the guest feel comfortable. I felt like in home. Great times I had with his company, for all the things he has tips about what to do in Town. I am so grateful for those times.
Charles was a fantastic host. He accepted us at the last minute, and was nothing but kind and informative. He gave us fantastic suggestions for exploring his wonderful neighborhood, and his apartment was lovely. It was a pleasure getting to chat with him. My family and I would stay there again in a heartbeat! Thanks again, Chuck.
Chuck was a fantastic host! From the moment we walked in, to the minute we left, Chuck was very accommodating and generous. When my group and I woke up (4 of us) we were welcomed with toasted bagels and fresh coffee. He was always in contact with us and provided us with anything we needed. It certainly added to a wonderful experience in NYC .
5 of us stayed at Chuck's loft. It was conveniently situated as we had driven down from Ontario to spend a weekend in New York for an event. Chuck was very welcoming and was open to us giving him 1 hour's notice for our actual arrival. He didn't rush us in even though he had plans for the evening too. Chuck got us set up nicely so that 3 people occupied the single beds (a futon, daybed and trundle) in the living room and the couple took the double fold out in the office. When we woke up on Saturday, he kindly showed us how to make espresso on the stovetop and got us some bagels, which topped up our leftovers from our dinner out the night before. He was even game to try out the food we brought in from Jeepney (in the lower East side) and promised to try it out with his friends. We didn't get to go to Red Farm, his recommended neighbourhood restaurant, but we'll try it the next time we're in town.
Overall, Chuck was a very gracious host. He even raced back to make sure we got to say goodbye before we headed out for our long drive, even though he'd just completed the 5-boro bike tour. I have to add that he was a good sport about us forgetting that he had a big ride that day…sorry for leaving the stereo on at a late hour, Chuck!
Like I said in my guestbook entry, I'm hopeful our paths cross again. Thanks for sharing your space with us. It was great to have met you.
We had a great stay with Charles in his homie apartment. The apartment is very conveniently located quite close to center city but still has the harmonious feel of a residential area with nice cafes and the highline or river side right nearby. Charles has great input about things to do in the area and around NY and is a very warm and outgoing host.
Chuck is a great host! We've stayed at his place (a group of 4) and in fact were mostly out of the apartment but Chuck was so welcoming and made us feel right at home!
The welcoming was surprising with fresh coffee and we really enjoyed our stay at chuck's place. His recommendations (especially red farm) Were great.. and let's not forget the amazing location!
