SNOWBIRD SPECIAL! JANUARY FIRST TO 31ST, ONLY $1695.00 FOR THE MONTH - INCLUDES THE USE OF FREE MOUNTAIN BIKES AND CRUISER BIKES.

Lovely, inviting, and very private, our chalet is a traveler's dream. We offer location, comfort, tranquility, and a free-standing cottage for the price of a hotel room. We are situated two blocks from the attractions at Fisherman's Wharf, a ten minute walk to downtown and the USA ferry terminals, and a fifteen minute walk to the local/long distance bus stations. There is always lots of free on-street parking on our street. The historic James Bay neighbourhood shopping centre, with its myriad coffee shops, book and curio stores, and 24 hour grocery store, is also a five minute walk. The University of Victoria and Camosun College are a quick and easy bus or bike ride away.

Sunny and bright, the chalet features: 16 foot vaulted ceilings, oak floors, skylights, french doors opening out onto a large south-facing deck, kitchenette suitable for light cooking (convection oven, microwave, rice cooker, slow cooker, toaster, coffee maker, outdoor barbecue on request),separate private bedroom as well as sleeping loft. The sleeping loft has a futon mattress, while the living room couch folds into a double bed., We also offer storage for bicycles on site. Wireless internet is provided as well as a fact screen tv dvd player and a reasonable selection of movies.

Michael and Yuki (the hosts) live next door and can offer local tips on VIctoria along with restaurant/entertainment suggestions.

Please send us an enquiry even if it looks like the chalet is booked! Quite often we have cancellations or alterations that don't make it to the calendar before you do!

Guest access

Guests have free mountain bike use, use of common driveway for loading and unloading. We happily welcome children traveling with parents to use our trampoline (we live next door) and assorted outdoor toys, balls and bats (not the cave-dwelling kind!!).

Interaction with guests

While we love to share our travel experiences with guests, we also understand that you are not in Victoria to visit US!.. We are always available for a chat, coffee, or for local area information, but will never encroach on your space. Whether for a day or a month, the chalet is YOUR home, and we will respect it as such.

The Chalet was cute and quaint. A great spot- close to shops, the water, and downtown nightlife. Would definitely visit again!

Location, Location, Location! A sweet, welcoming, private little chalet in a quiet historic neighborhood so close to all the wonderful sights, shops and restaurants Victoria has to offer. We so enjoyed delightful summer days touring Victoria on Michael and Yuki's city cruiser bikes. Thank you Michael and Yuki for all your hospitality!

The place is extremely affordable but missing some simple attention to details. The place can be difficult to find because it is located at the end their neighbor's driveway, and it appears the entrance may be in their neighbor's yard. We arrived after dark and searched for 45 minutes until the host greeted us. (We called but believe the number was routed to a US number. The host would have answered if the call went through. The host is warm and welcoming.) The second bed is not a bed but an aging pull out bed or a futon mattress in a loft (great for a child). The picture shows a leather coach and wicker chair but it is a cloth coach which is showing signs of aging and the wicker chair has been replaced with a cloth chair in good condition. The linens, including the pillows, are old and need to be replaced. Only one of the beds was made up so be prepared to make up the other two. Some track lighting bulbs are missing and some shower shelves need to be added so guests can put their shampoos and soaps down (I used the toilet seat cover) while bathing. I was unable to connect with Wifi. However, it is a great value for the price. It is perfect for a younger couple looking to save money and can put up with a few missing things. This place would be a gem with a little work!

Response from Michael:
Just a few points of clarification. There are simple directions attached to the booking sheet which Chris had obviously not read. They were not able to phone me because their US mobile service provider did not work in Canada. The chalet is located in the back of OUR house (we own two side by side houses). We actively promote the idea of the chalet as being perfect for couples or small families as opposed to groups of adults trying to save money by bunking in together. We have never never had a leather couch in the chalet. The couch as pictured was replaced with a classic (not aging) hide abed that is of excellent quality. We are constantly striving to upgrade the furnishings. And finally, the third bed is a very comfy futon in the upstairs loft, which somehow Chris missed accessing. Put it down to being tired after a long trip! Chris and Gio were nice to chat with, but I would advise them to get their facts straight before writing reviews.

This was our first time using airbnb but I will definitely be using it again. Michael provided extensive information prior to check-in regarding directions, everything we needed to know about the home, and even a list of nearby attractions and amenities. We only got to meet Michael once but he was very friendly and even offered my son the use of his trampoline. The home location was central to everything we ended up visiting and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted. The kids argued about who would get the loft area. My son was not crazy about the bi-fold door for the bathroom but it was really fine. I would definitely recommend Michael's place for a casual, quiet and convenient stay in Victoria!

Perfect location on a quiet street in James Bay, close to the best of Victoria. Friendly, hospitable and responsive hosts. The cottage is small and efficient with a nice little deck off the back. It felt a bit DIY in finish quality, but all in all it was clean and well located with great hosts.

Cute little cottage in a great location at an unbeatable price. Perhaps better for two or three people. Four was a tight squeeze but manageable. The Seagulls get up with the chickens. All part of the charm.
