Winter Special! Feb 6-22 only 54 dollars per night! (3 night minimum).
Lovely, inviting, and very private, our chalet is a traveler's dream. We offer location, comfort, tranquility, and a free-standing cottage for the price of a hotel room. We are situated less than a block from the attractions at Fisherman's Wharf, a ten minute walk to downtown and the USA ferry terminals, and a fifteen minute walk to the local/long distance bus stations. The historic James Bay neighbourhood shopping centre, with its myriad coffee shops, book and curio stores, and 24 hour grocery store, is also a five minute walk.
Sunny and bright, the chalet features: oak floors, skylight, french doors opening out onto a large south-facing deck, kitchenette suitable for light cooking, separate private bedroom as well as sleeping loft above the living room, comfy furniture and mattress, storage for bicycles on site with laundry option next door. There are two on-site high speed wireless internet networks and cable flatscreen tv is provided as well as a dvd player and a reasonable selection of movies.
Michael and Yuki (the hosts) live next door and can offer local tips on VIctoria along with restaurant/entertainment suggestions.
We had a wonderful stay at Seaside Chalet in James Bay, conveniently located near the water and near downtown Victoria and services and shops. The chalet was cleverly designed in a small and cozy space, which was clean and bright, with plenty of natural light. Michael was very accommodating and provided a lot of helpful information. We loved "our" little home away from home!
Michael and Yuki were great to deal with, quick to respond and very friendly - allowing us to borrow umbrella's. Plenty of privacy and only a short walk to town we liked the location. No doubt a brilliant spot in the summer, however being from Australia we found it very cold, even with the use of the heaters. A nice stay all the same and great value $$$ wise.
We stayed in the suite for the Nov 11th long weekend and we were so happy to find that the Chalet was available especially since we planned our trip the week in advance. A cozy place with great natural lighting and a cute porch. Great value! Located in a quiet and safe neighbourhood and only a 10 minute walk away from downtown, museums, and Parliament. Be aware that the house number listed on the booking sheet is not actually the house of the host (although it is the address of the suite which is in the back). We made the mistake of knocking on the house in the front and the tenants had to redirect us to the hosts house next door-a little confusing. The host was friendly and welcoming and even offered us the use of bicycles during our stay. Though I would recommend bringing your own bike lock if you plan to use the bikes as there was no lock available. As others have commented, the shower does leak onto the floor a bit due to the continuous tiling in the bathroom-only a slight hassle.
The only reason I didn't rate this a 5 star is because of the ladder to the loft. It really needs thicker boards to stabilize it. The rungs are reinforced and there isn't a fear of it breaking...but it's very shaky as you climb. 2x4's would do the trick, & maybe just a replaced ladder in the same natural wood as the other parts would be perfect for the beautiful ceiling & floors. :) The place is well worth the price, I will absolutely stay here again if I am able to return to Victoria! It's cosy, clean, cute & in an ideal location to downtown. Thank you Michael & family!!!
Great stay in Victoria ! The chalet is so nice cosy very clean and very quiet ! It s in a perfect location !
Nice place to stay in Victoria. Convenient location, walkable distance from the ferry. Nice space: exactly as in the pictures, clean and functional. Michael provides a lot of information on the neighborhood with tips on where to eat and have fun. We had a great time.
We stayed for a few nights in September. Our first, but not our last visit to Victoria. Could not have been nicer. Quiet. Close to everything. If desired you could walk everywhere you need to go in town. DId I say quiet? Our biggest regret was we couldn't stay longer. Would love to return again.
Wonderful time with the Seaside Chalet and Michael. He was helpful and informative, many good tips on where to go and what to see. Chalet was cozy, bed comfy, tv great, living room and kitchen also nice. House was located near downtown, harbor, museum, etc. in very nice neighborhood. Lots of wonderful old Victorian cottages nearby. Overall satisfying experience, would recommend to anyone!! Paul
Great location and Michael was very easy to work with. Quick responses to questions and the chalet was everything as listed. Loved the area, Victoria is a lovely vacation spot. The place was close to everything fun and a very quick walk down the the fisherman's wharf. We would definitely stay there again.
Great location did not see much of Michael but he was helpfull when we did catch up. Wifi was very poor the accommodation was very good but needs new towels and bedding as they are worn.
