We had a really lovely stay with Emanuela and Bartolo and will definitely be returning. The room and accommodation was excellent. Outstandingly clean and well maintained. Most of all we felt incredibly welcomed into their home and at the same time we had the space to come and go as we pleased. Our hosts were really friendly and informative, providing insight and advice about Vico (and the area) which we found really helpful. Thank you so much for such a lovely stay.
Vico Equense itself is such an easy place to take part in the Italian way of life - a real privilege. Our settled evening spot was Zerilli cafe/ bar in the tiny square - watching the world go by. There are plenty of good restaurants (all shapes and sizes) in Vico , for all tastes/budgets. If you are missing the tourist life of Sorrento then its only a few stops on the train. We'd stayed in the area before and for this time for the first time in Vico and we found it to be a great base to explore the Neopolitan riviera and the archeological sites of Pompeii, Herculaneum and further afield - Paestum, all worth a trip. However, we liked coming back to Vico, looking out over the bay to Vesuvious or just watching the world go by. We also spent a couple of days being one of the few tourists on the beaches of Vico (walk down AND then take the little bus back) just soaking up the sun. Overall - a great location and a real jewel of a B and B.
WOW!! We just had the most wonderful genuine Italian experience with Emanuela and Bartolo. We made Tiramisu and real Italian pizza!!
Accommodation was beautiful and clean; and so close to access everything around the area. Bartolo provided heaps of really useful advice to help us make the most of our stay :)
Emanuella and her husband were super nice and helpful. They went to pick us up at the train station and helped us to bring our luggages which is very kind. The room was very clean and it was very comfortable. Breakfast patio was very pretty, and the food was very healthy and pretty good variety. The room we were in had a nice view as well. We will recommend to anyone who don't mind a short of walk to this airbnb, but the view was totally worth it.
We had a great time staying with Emanuela. The room was beautifully decorated and spacious. Breakfast was also provided which was lovely. On arrival Emanuela and her husband made us feel welcome and provided us with a map and suggestions of things to do in the local area. Will definitely recommend this as a great place to stay.
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful stay at Il Calicanto.
On arrival Bartolo and Emanuala met us at the train station and helped us with our luggage. The train and bus station is just 5 minutes walk from the house up the hill.
The house was just as described in the pictures and has some amazing views.
Bartolo provided us with some books and useful tips to help us explore both vico and the surrounding areas (which we really appreciated).
Vico Equense is a prime location to set up base and explore Sorrento and the Amalfi coast.
We really enjoyed our time and would love to return one day.
Bartolo and Emanuela are amazing hosts, Grazie Mille!!!!
II Calicanto is located in the small but lovely town of Vico Enquense. this is about a 10 minutes train ride to Sorrento. One ticket each way was 1, 60 euro. We didn't find many places to eat but what they do have are gems. Be sure to try Pizza Metro( university of pizza) for the best pizza. you can see the guys making it threw a glass wall. Also be sure to try gelato in town.
The house a great view of the coast on the roof. We filled up on breakfast every morning( coffee, tea, cookies, crackers, nutella, toast, granola, milk and fresh fruit)
Fair warning now: there are a lot of stairs required to getting to this location.
The experience was good, I only saw Emanuela once and the rest of the time her husband Bartolo attended us. It is a gorgeous house and beautiful peaceful location. Bartolo helped us with our luggage and provided the breakfast and a helpful map to get around. However, the walk from the train station to the house is a steep walk and it was wayyyy more then 10 minutes . I would recommend taking the stair be it is MUCH shorter he took us the long way which was exhausting.the bed and room was big but the bed was a bit hard. Breakfast is very light, just yogurt, juice, coffee, Nutella, and some crackers that's it. Wifi is not in each bedroom you have to go to the kitchen or the living room to have access. Also not enough toilet paper . Other than this it was fine a little far from sorrento so you will have to take the train.but beautiful house and location was quiet. Bartolo was very nice and so was Emanuela.
