About this listing

Our comfortable and clean two bedroom, two bath house can easily accommodate 6 people. It is centrally located just under a mile from The Downtown Mall, The University of Virginia, and the trendy neighborhood of Belmont. Pets ok with extra $30/night.

The space

If you book, I want you to get exactly what you expect or to exceed your expectations so please take some time to read through the description of the neighborhood, the layout of the beds, the house rules, etc. and thanks for considering!

Our 1600 sq. foot house is centrally located half a mile (10-15 minute) walk from the downtown pedestrian mall and less than a mile from "The Grounds" of the University of Virginia. Just blocks from the restaurants and markets of West Main Street!

The kitchen is the gem of the house. The spacious and open design make it a pleasure to cook in or to just linger over coffee. The counter-space is plentiful and the fridge will be nearly empty, allowing plenty of room to make yourself at home. Help yourself to coffee (french press), tea, and any basic condiments you like. The kitchen is open to the dining room, which seats 6.

The ground-floor consists of the large, open kitchen and dining room, an ample living room with queen pullout couch and privacy curtains to close it off from the hallway, a small sitting room (which also can serve as a 4th private "bedroom"), laundry room, and a full bathroom.

On the second floor you will find two bedrooms, both with queen beds, and a full bathroom.

There is a large t.v. in the guestroom with hbo channels (no dvd player or cable though).

The house also has a back deck with a gas grill, table and chairs, a front porch, and off-street parking for two cars.

I love airbnb. I have had amazing experiences as both guest and host over the last five years. I am consistently impressed with the level of trust and mutual respect that makes this not just an awesome business but fosters a community.

Over the years my neighbor has reported some "parties" happening in our backyard while it was rented with loud music and "non registered guests", as well as multiple cars parking along the street outside his house (there's no street parking on our street; the cars were just sort of pulled to the side).

As much as I love hosting, it is more important to keep the peace with the neighbors and to keep a good name for airbnb (in case you haven't heard, many cities are becoming divided between citizens who are for and against airbnb even being legal, largely for reasons like this). Given this issue here are some strict requirements for renting my house

1. NO unregistered guests without prior permission. Unless you let me know and get approved for others, the people on your original reservation are the people who have permission to be on the property.

2. No street parking on our street. There is parking in the neighborhood and I'm happy to point you in the right direction if your group will have more than 2 cars.

3. Quiet time after dark in the backyard/on the back deck. We have party's back there, we play music back there, we also always keep in mind how it might negatively influence our neighbors and keep it chill. Keep the stereo to a low-moderate level and no music after dark outside please.

If you know your group is looking to party late night with a big group than this is not the house for you. If you wanna place to have coffee together, a beer on the front porch, a chill grill out on the deck, than I'd love to host you. Let's keep airbnb the amazing and respectful community it is, not just for guests and hosts but for the neighbors too.

Guest access

You will have the entire house, including off-street parking for two cars, a front porch, back deck (with a grill), washer/dryer, and full kitchen.

Interaction with guests

We will usually just leave a key for you to let yourselves in but we will available during your stay should something arise.

Other things to note

THE HOUSE There are two real, queen beds, one is in our bedroom and the other is in the guest room. Unfortunately there is not any dresser space to unpack but there are hangers and some closet space available in the guest room, along with an iron. Additional sleeping space is possible on the queen-sized pull out couch in the living room (separated with a privacy curtain) and a small futon in the...I don't know what to call it...bonus room? It's off the dining room with a door and a backdoor entrance.
Our house is cozy and very functional. The kitchen is stocked with everything you should need appliance-wise as well as complimentary coffee and tea.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD We are located in the area known as Fifeville. This neighborhood is racially and socio-economically diverse. In all honesty, it's not the prettiest area in town and our street in particular is a mix of residential and commercial properties. It is safe and central and we have a very comfortable, clean, cozy home for you to make your own while you rent.

This is our home and, although not cluttered, it is lived in. Respect our things and please leave the house as you found it.

I love airbnb. I have had amazing experiences as both guest and host over the last three years. I am consistently impressed with the level of trust and mutual respect that makes this not just an awesome business but fosters a community.

On that note, I recently (after hosting hundreds of guests in my home) had a conversation with my neighbor about how our hosting has affected him. He said that recently there have been some "parties" happening in our backyard with loud music and more people than perhaps should be as well as multiple cars parking along the street outside his house (there's no street parking on our street; the cars were just sort of pulled to the side).

None.

2. No street parking on our street (it's pretty obvious but our neighbor said some people have tried to park in front of his house before). There is parking in the neighborhood and I'm happy to point you in the right direction if your group will have more than 3 cars.

3. QUIET TIME AFTER DARK in the backyard/on the back deck. No music outside.

If you want a place to have coffee together, a beer on the front porch, a chill grill out on the deck, than I'd love to host you. Let's keep airbnb the amazing and respectful community it is, not just for guests and hosts but for the neighbors and cities too.

Faith's house was as described. Was able to accommodate our request for an early check-in and communication was easy. Off-street parking was convenient and had a spacious backyard.

We had a great time staying at Faith's home. The location is conveniently located between the University/Corner and the Downtown Mall so you can walk (15-20min) to either. Also, it was nice that even though the house is in a residential neighborhood there are a few convenience stores just a block away. The house is cozy, eclectic, and has all the modern amenities you need. For our stay Faith put a full-size bed in the living room, which was helpful. Faith was also very flexible on the check-in/out times and very responsive. Overall a great place for a great weekend back in C'ville!

Faith User ProfileFaith is a superhost.

I am a dance artist, exercise instructor, hobby cook, outdoor lover, and traveler from the hills of West Virginia. I've lived in Charlottesville Virginia since 2010 and have been renting my house out on weekends since winter 2013. While traveling I've rented airbnb lodging on both coasts, Central America, and Europe. It's definitely my favorite way to get to know a place!
