The Space

My apartment is situated in the south of Amsterdam in an area called the Pijp. The neighborhood is quiet and tranquil yet hip, vibrant and there is a lot to do!
The apartment is situated in a wide and green street with hardly any traffic. Either by foot or by bike you are very close to the Albert Cuyp market, the Vondel- or Sarphatie Park and the Museum square. There are also many good café’s and restaurants and museums (Stedelijk museum, van Gogh, Rijksmuseum) just around the corner. It’s a 2 minute walk to the tram stop and there are two big ‘Albert Heijn’ supermarkets close by.
My apartment:
I’m the proud owner of ground level house in a 1920’s apartment building. For a large part I did the renovation and built the book cabinet myself. The house is about 60m2/640sq ft and it has a garden. At night it is very quiet apart from the soft ringing of the church tower bell.
There is a fully equipped kitchen and because I am quite the amateur cook myself, you’ll find everything you would expect here: forced heated oven and spacious stove, sharp cook’s knives, large fridge/freezer, nespresso machine (capsules included) and dish washer.
My living room has a large dining table where you can easily sit with six people. Next to it is a small TV room with a pull out sofa which makes an extra 2 persons bed.
The bed room has large (1.80m x 2 m) bed, towels and linen are included. There is separate bathroom and toilet.

oFree WIFI
oApple TV
oMedia player with the latest movies and series
oHouse manual (including a list of the best restaurants, bars, cafés/clubs, things to do)
oWashing machine
oTumble dryer
oIron and ironing board

Getting around

It’s a 2 minute walk to the tram stop. Tram 12 stops which brings you to the western part of the city and to the museum district. You can also hop on another tram which brings you to the city center.

Other Things to Note

I think the best way to quickly move around in the city is by bike. There are several bike hire centers especially in the city centers. Ajaxbike is closest to my home.

  • Great roomy apartment with a nice walk to the city centre. Jan was a friendly host with really good recommendations in the nearby area. Would definitely stay there again the next time in Amsterdam. Only good things to say!

  • Jan's place was beautiful and warm and cozy, located in a quiet but fun neighborhood, close enough to the city center and well communicated via tram. Jan was kind enough to bring us his keys to the airport even! Our stay was great, highly recommended.

  • We stayed at Jan's house for four nights. The apartment is very nice and we really enjoyed our stay. The kitchen is very well equipped. There is also a nice small garden, though we didn't use it as it was Winter time, but I can just imagine how nice it will be in the Spring and Summer. There are many restaurants and a lot to do in the neighborhood. The house is located in a quiet street, yet it is quite close to the center. We didn't have the chance to meet Jan because he was out of town, but his friend welcomed us in the house. Communication with Jan was easy, he responded my messages promptly and is a very friendly person. Thank you Jan for letting us stay at your lovely home!

  • Great host! Communication hassle free.
Two beds for two each as promised, although one of them might be a tad too short for tall persons. Super quiet neighbourhood.
And we drank a lot of Jan's Nespresso coffee!
Very accessible from the Central train station by a tram in 20 minutes.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Jan's place. The flat was exactly the same as on the pictures, furnished with great taste and imagination, unlike the 15 sqm hotel rooms. Although we didn't meet Jan personally, our communication was great and we felt being taken care of. We really recommend this place.
