Love your stay in Chicago- private bedroom with private bath right across the hall, bathtub/shower. Bed is quite comfortable and can be converted into either a single or king. We also have an air mattress or comfy couch if an additional bed is needed. There is plenty of closet space.

We love this city and would be happy to host you. We love meeting new people and have enjoyed being guests at other hosts bnb's. I am a professional circus performer and my wife is a doctor, quite the fun mix to say the least. We both love playing music, cooking and traveling. I LOVE grilling and home brewing. There is always a glass of wine or beer to share. I speak fluent French and Spanish. I am happy to answer any questions or concerns!
Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as you would like- I have hung out with guests and shared a beer or gone sightseeing when I have time; sometimes it's just a quick "hello, how was your day?" It's all up to you!
There is a specialty beer and wine shop about 5 doors down, a great local watering hole right up the street and two blocks away Roscoe Village has plenty of food choices- good pub, pizza, sushi, American, Guatemalan, Italian, Mexican, sandwiches- you name it. We have two major super markets about a half mile away and a Trader Joes and Whole Foods that are only about a mile away. There are endless food and drink choices less than one mile in any direction. Happy to guide you to the fun spots.
Transportation is easy, we are a ten minute walk to the Brown line, and if you don't feel like walking, the Addison bus runs to/from either the Brown line or the Blue line. If you come from O'hare you jump on the Blue line to Addison, take the Addison bus East for about 10-20 minutes and you are steps from our front door. The Brown line will take you to the heart of downtown in about 20-25 minutes. We are a 10-15 minute bus ride to Wrigley Field, 15 minutes or so to Lake Michigan. Wicker Park is only a 15 minute bus ride. But again, everything is quicker on a bike.
Think of us like roommates who live on a different floor, our own bedroom and bathroom is in the basement. I am in and out of the house so you will have as much or as little contact with me as you want. My wife is a doctor so she is usually either working, or sleeping for a few hours at a time. All we ask is that you just respect our place as you would like your own place to be. If you aren't sure, just ask!
Matt and Emily were wonderful and welcoming. Very comfortable, homey, beautiful place to stay. Great neighborhood. In anticipation of the birth of our first grandchild Matt was super accommodating when assisting me in figuring out possible dates of arrival/departure. Communication was excellent. Thank you! We hope to come back frequently.
Great time in Chicago!
Beautiful neighborhood and house.
5 min to subway and 20 min to the Loop.
A lot of parking places.
Hope to see Matt next time when we will be at Chicago!
Do you know that "home alone" was filmed in the north suburbs of Chicago?
Matt was incredibly accommodating and pro-active in reaching out and making sure I was having a great stay. He made sure I knew where to pick up keys beforehand, and how to get into the apartment. He couldn't have been more cooperative, helpful and great to talk to. It's like having a friend in the city!
We stood 5 night´s at Matt´s place. The house is in a very lovely and quite neighbourhood. Our room has enough space for two and the bed is very comfy. Matt is a friendly and helpful host. I picked that place because of the good reviews and was a little disappointed that the bathroom was not cleaned at all. Apart from the moldy shower curtain and thick dust everywhere, I found little hair´s on the toilet. Obviously it hasn´t been cleaned for weeks! The kitchen etc., though were tidy and clean. Another thing is, when you step out of the bedroom, you stay in the middle of the kitchen, which means that if the place is fully booked you might wake up several times during the night and in the early morning. Earplugs helped a little bit.
Our apologies for the state of the bathroom- we had a friend staying with us for a few weeks and we had asked him to do the cleaning as we were both out of the house that day. We did not check on the state of the bathroom and for that we are definitely to blame. I can promise that we will not let that happen again. We take our hosting responsibilities very seriously and do not ever want for someone to have a less than perfect trip. Thank you for the feedback.
Matt and Emily did host us with good care. The nice house was well organized and we especially had fun using the bikes to explore Chicago. Matt was really interested in helping us having a good time during our stay (it already started with the drinks we could grab when we arrived, after a long delayed trip from Europe via NYC). We also enjoyed the beautiful backyard in their cozy neighborhood. For beer drinkers: the best beer shop of Chicago is on the corner of their street. When in town (and why not, Chicago has so much) we love to stay at Matt and Emily’s again.
Nice neighborhood, very well connected with the city center. Matt is very friendly and helpful. Highly suggested.
It was a great stay in a nice area. Even if we didn't met Matt an Emily very often, they helped us by every questions. It's a nice house with a small backyard and a deck. We liked to sit there . The possibility to get a bike for trips is fantastic. It's near to the brown line, so you are in 30 minutes at the loop.
