We love this city and would be happy to host you. We love meeting new people and have enjoyed being guests at other hosts bnb's. I am a professional circus performer and my wife is a doctor, quite the fun mix to say the least. We both love playing music, cooking and traveling. I LOVE grilling and home brewing. There is always a glass of wine or beer to share. I speak fluent French and Spanish. I am happy to answer any questions or concerns!
Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as you would like- I have hung out with guests and shared a beer or gone sightseeing when I have time; sometimes it's just a quick "hello, how was your day?" It's all up to you!
There is a specialty beer and wine shop about 5 doors down, a great local watering hole right up the street and two blocks away Roscoe Village has plenty of food choices- good pub, pizza, sushi, American, Guatemalan, Italian, Mexican, sandwiches- you name it. We have two major super markets about a half mile away and a Trader Joes and Whole Foods that are only about a mile away. There are endless food and drink choices less than one mile in any direction. Happy to guide you to the fun spots.
Transportation is easy, we are a ten minute walk to the Brown line, and if you don't feel like walking, the Addison bus runs to/from either the Brown line or the Blue line. If you come from O'hare you jump on the Blue line to Addison, take the Addison bus East for about 10-20 minutes and you are steps from our front door. The Brown line will take you to the heart of downtown in about 20-25 minutes. We are a 10-15 minute bus ride to Wrigley Field, 15 minutes or so to Lake Michigan. Wicker Park is only a 15 minute bus ride. But again, everything is quicker on a bike.
Think of us like roommates who live on a different floor, our own bedroom and bathroom is in the basement. I am in and out of the house so you will have as much or as little contact with me as you want. My wife is a doctor so she is usually either working, or sleeping for a few hours at a time. All we ask is that you just respect our place as you would like your own place to be. If you aren't sure, just ask!
Matt is a really cool guy and a wonderful host! Took my buddy and I to a local pizza joint our first night there for a taste of Chicago. Afterwards, hit up a bar he works at for some drinks and to just hang.
His place is easy to find and the space we stayed was clean and comfortable with all amenities available to you if needed. The location is in a good area as well and not too far of an uber ride to the loop.
Would not hesitate to recommend Matt's place to my friends. It was unfortunate we were only in town a couple of nights, but plan to come back and use Matt's place again. Thanks Again!
Matt and Emily were great hosts. Communication was easily, we felt at home, and hey, who doesn't like to trade good doughnuts for good beer?? 10/10 would stay again
Matt and Emily's home rocks. It's beautiful, clean, comfy, and happy. Matt is definitely the host with the most and he goes above and beyond for his guests by being genuinely interested in where they came from what they came for and how he can make their stay awesome. I hope to stay there everytime I need a place in Chicago and I most definitely recommend him!
I had a great time with Matt and Emily in Chicago. They are both sweet and interesting people; clearly, they are used to being hosts. The listing itself was warm and cozy, with lots of handmade trinkets and artwork spread around the house. For us, the location was great: we were within a 10-15 minute drive of anywhere we wanted to go. My only complaint is that the house was a bit colder than I would have hoped. This isn't a huge criticism, especially because we just felt bad about asking them. Knowing Matt and Emily, I'm sure they would have obliged. Overall, it was a great stay and I hope to come back here soon.
Matt was very accommodating and we had no trouble finding our way into the house even though he couldn't be there when we arrived. The neighborhood is pretty sweet with some cute shops and fun restaurants. The location worked well for us as our daughter lives just one neighborhood over. We had no troubles finding a place to park very close to the house.
Matt and Emily were wonderful and welcoming. Very comfortable, homey, beautiful place to stay. Great neighborhood. In anticipation of the birth of our first grandchild Matt was super accommodating when assisting me in figuring out possible dates of arrival/departure. Communication was excellent. Thank you! We hope to come back frequently.
Great time in Chicago!
Beautiful neighborhood and house.
5 min to subway and 20 min to the Loop.
A lot of parking places.
Hope to see Matt next time when we will be at Chicago!
Do you know that "home alone" was filmed in the north suburbs of Chicago?
