Comfy Room & Bike in Roscoe Village

House - Private room · N Leavitt St, Chicago, IL 60618, United States

The Space

Love your stay in Chicago- private bedroom with private bath right across the hall, bathtub/shower. Bed is quite comfortable and can be converted into either a single or king. We also have an air mattress or comfy couch if an additional bed is needed. There is plenty of closet space. The kitchen is open to use with complimentary coffee and light snacks as is free washer/dryer and 10Mb/sec wireless internet. Backyard has spacious deck and nice lawn area, BBQ also if needed, smoking allowed in backyard, not in house. Plenty of free street parking if you have a car. We love biking everywhere and have extra bikes with helmets and locks for free if you are interested in seeing the city on two wheels. If you're an adventurous couple we even have a tandem. Everything is quicker on a bike, and cheaper! We have a small bootcamp of workout equipment. if you want to curl some iron, let me know and I can show it to you.

There is a specialty beer and wine shop about 5 doors down, a great local watering hole right up the street and two blocks away Roscoe Village has plenty of food choices- good pub, pizza, sushi, American, Guatemalan, Italian, Mexican, sandwiches- you name it. We have two major super markets about a half mile away and a Trader Joes and Whole Foods that are only about a mile away. There are endless food and drink choices less than one mile in any direction. Happy to guide you to the fun spots.

Transportation is easy, we are a ten minute walk to the Brown line, and if you don't feel like walking, the Addison bus runs to/from either the Brown line or the Blue line. If you come from O'hare you jump on the Blue line to Addison, take the Addison bus East for about 10 minutes and you are steps from our front door. The Brown line will take you to the heart of downtown in about 20-25 minutes. We are a 15 minute bus ride to Wrigley Field, 20 minutes or so to Lake Michigan. Wicker Park is only a 15 minute bus ride. But again, everything is quicker on a bike.

We love this city and would be happy to host you. We love meeting new people and have enjoyed being guests at other hosts bnb's. I am a professional circus performer and my wife is a doctor, quite the fun mix to say the least. We both love playing music, cooking and traveling. There is always a glass of wine or beer to share. I speak fluent French and Spanish. I am happy to answer any questions or concerns!

  • What a great place to stay! I got there and found out that Matt had accidentally forgotten to leave the key in the lock box, but he was WAY on top of it...A couple of minutes after I contacted him, Emily came out to let me in :)

Staying with them was more like staying with old friends - they are super friendly and welcoming! I had a great time chatting with both of them and hanging out in their house. Maybe, if you're really nice, Matt will show you his hydroponic garden (for salad fixings, silly!).

The room was comfy and just what I needed for the weekend, and I loved not having to worry about sharing a bathroom with anyone :)

Great experience, and I will definitely keep them in mind if I'm in the area again!

  • Matt and Emily were great hosts and we wish we had more time to hang out. Both of them were welcoming, engaging, and funny. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable.

The apartment is in a great location (7 minute walk to subway, buses everywhere, cool neighborhood), and it was really easy to get around. If it was warmer, we would have taken out one of the many bikes Matt/Emily have.

We don't have any musical talent, so we were not able to play one of the many instruments in their beautiful living room. But it looked cool!

If they'd have us back, we'd happily stay with Matt and Emily again.

  • Matt was a great host for our weekend in Chicago to visit family for a surprise birthday. Apartment is very roomy and cozy. Rental room was private on 1st floor with private bath across the hall. My daughter and I slept in the king converted bed which was fine. Everything very nice and clean. We enjoyed meeting Emily as well. Street parking was easy even with several inches of snow the 2nd night. Would love to return when weather warmer to enjoy deck and back yard. Thanks for your accommodations.

  • My husband and I totally lucked out finding this gem of spot in a great location of Chicago with even greater hosts! Matt and Emily are terrific people who feel like old friends. Their place is lovely and comfy -- and a good night's rest was never in question. Matt took hosting to a whole new level by baking delicious fresh bread and cheese scones! It was great to wake up and have coffee and tea too. I lived in Chicago for four years and felt a bit rusty on places to take my husband out to, but Matt always had excellent recommendations on places to go visit and eat. They even had bikes for us to ride around with! (Which is totally the best way to get around on the north side.) Overall, just a fantastic experience. Thanks again Matt and Emily!

  • We are neighbors who needed to find a place to stay while our children and grandchildren visited. Matt and Emily's home is cozy, our room was comfy, and our first experience with airbnb was great.

  • Although unfortunately we didn't get to meet our hosts they were so wonderful in communicating and ensuring our stay went well and smoothly....and it did. Matt made us feel so welcome! Their house and neighbourhood was very comfy and enjoyable. Matt ensured use of the bikes was easy which was great as it was a bit of a walk to the train but an easy bike ride. This was perfect!
