Andrew and Alex live in the house along with Basil the friendly Labrador. Always happy to offer local advice whether it's about walking, dining, attractions etc.
Come and visit this beautiful part of the Lake District - we look forward to welcoming you!
We welcome guests as we would friends and family so make yourself at home! Please feel free to ask if you are unsure of anything or need help with something.
A few things we ask are that you are careful not to let our dog out when entering/leaving, not to leave hot cups/mugs on the wooden table/worktops and general common sense stuff - so nothing too draconian!
Great place to stay, highly recommended. Andrew and Alex were wonderful warm hosts. Their cottage was clean, warm and cosy. Basil the dog was very welcoming and friendly. We appreciated the large towels ready for us on the bed. There's a small lay-by right next to the house perfect to park your car.
Great hosts and house is in a lovely location. Made us both feel very welcome would definitely recommend others staying. I would advise people complete a shop before they arrive as not many big supermarkets locally.
We were warmly welcomed and immediately felt at home. It is a lovely cottage, not far from a pub and convenient for anyone driving up to the Lakes from the south. The cottage is warm, well equipped, and the exposed beams and stonework are lovely!
We loved our stay at your lovely cottage. The location is incredible, the room cosy and the area really beautiful. We highly endorse a stay at the cottage, and were warmly welcomed by Andrew, Alex and Basil the dog. The location is a great place to discover the Southern Lakes and was very easy to find. Alex and Andrew are quite reserved, but we were happy to do our own thing. Highly recommended :)
We loved our stay in this cosy cottage! Andrew and Alex were really friendly and helpful, if somewhat reserved, which we didn't mind because so are we :) The location is a great for exploration of the wider area and the cottage is really cute and characteristic. We highly recommend it!
We received a very warm welcome from Alex and Andrew - and Basil, the splendid black labrador. The house was, indeed, cosy and warm. A bit too warm in our room - but fine once we had turned the radiator down! The sound of the river outside is a great way to be lulled to sleep.
Alex and Andrew went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay in the Lakes. They had lots of advice on what to see, where to eat etc.
The kitchen is quite small, and supplies from the local shop are limited, so it's best to go prepared with food for breakfasts, but there is a wonderful coffee machine - and lots of tea, milk etc.
Plenty of hot water for a shower or a bath too.
Alex and Andrew are a lovely, hard-working young couple who obviously enjoy meeting the people who come to stay. We wish them good luck with all their business ventures.
My sister and I had a most enjoyable stay with Alex and Andrew (and Basil!) at Bridge House. It was great to spend a couple of nights in an authentic Lakeland cottage with the sound of the river to lull us to sleep. Their informal hospitality style really suited us well and we appreciated their knowledge about the local area, particularly places off the normal tourist routes. We wish we'd had more time to spend with them and certainly recommend Bridge House as a unique and delightful Airbnb experience.
