Where you’ll be

Roanoke, Virginia, United States

We love living Downtown! You can stroll to the historic Farmers Market • There are dozens of restaurants and bars for all tastes & budgets, as well as shopping, gyms, culture, art museums, art galleries, music & entertainment venues • We are minutes away from the Roanoke Greenway, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Appalachian Trail for great hiking, walking, running and cycling • Downtown Roanoke has easy, convenient access to shopping malls, Carilion Hospital and Medical School Facilities, and the Hotel Roanoke Conference Center • Throughout the summer there is live music at Elmwood Park (4 blocks away) and special events every Thursday, Friday and Saturday downtown by the Market Building • Smith Mountain Lake is 40 minutes away and well worth renting a boat for the day. It has 500 miles of shoreline and is incredibly beautiful surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. A State Park located on the lake that offers 7 miles of trails, boat and canoe rentals and a beach • The Roanoke Valley is like no other destination in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. With urban delights and modern amenities in bustling downtown Roanoke to classic Americana in quaint small towns, there is so much to explore. Don't miss out on any of the history, culture, shopping, and especially the endless outdoor fun. At the center of the Roanoke Valley lies its namesake, the City of Roanoke, a vibrant city that combines pulsating urban energy with genuine southern charm. As the largest Virginia city west of Richmond, Roanoke is the cultural and business hub of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The city is home to a thriving arts scene that includes a symphony, ballet, theatre, lots of art galleries and the nationally known Taubman Museum of Art. Downtown Roanoke is a treasure trove of unique shopping and eclectic restaurants. It's truly a great place to include on any visit to the region, but to fully understand the Blue Ridge Mountains you'll have to explore the rest of the scenic valley. ~The Roanoke Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau
